Your Favorite Indy Music Themes.

Hello, everyone! I'm not sure if this thread has been done before, but I thought it would be fun to talk about our favorite themes in the Indiana Jones films, and what kind of music we would want to appear in No. 4. Here's my opinions:

Favorite Theme Overall: The "Raiders March" (of course)
Favorite Romance Theme: The "Marion/Indy kissing owies" theme
Favorite Villain Theme: Mola Ram's
Favorite Action Scene Theme: Tank Chase
Favorite Opening Sequence Theme: Young Indy in Last Crusade
Favorite Credits Music: Raiders of the Lost Ark credits

(Be warned, though. This idea is kind of hard, so think carefully and just try to think of the most memorable theme with the best "Humming-for-three-weeks-straight-Factor"

I LOVE the music during the truck chase in Raiders. Right as the German in the back curses and climbs uptop and you see the truck rounding that corner from above. The music is just so relentless there.

I think the music throughout the whole trilogy is outstanding. They're among the best scores ever written. I couldn't choose a best action scene theme or best romance theme or anything.

I havent seen Raiders yet.
But for some reason i personally really liked the theme played during that Nazi parade in LC (No i am Not a Nazi :p ). Always liked that style of music.
But as oki9Sedo said. ALL the music was outstanding. It sounded sortof like a differant Starwars. (I always liked Starwars theme music. Especially the opening crawl).

You're forgetting the all important cave scene music!

Raiders - the Snakes
Temple - the Bugs
Crusade - the Rats

For me, it has to be the bugs, only cos there's another danger present and time is running out for Indy and Shorty - so the music is much more paced and nailbiting!

That one got me without seeing the other 2. ANd Temple Of Doom although not as good as LC was still good enough i am a firm fan...
As for not seeing it.... Our Library some uh...nice person checked it out and hasnt return it,...... its a month overdue so..... Whnever i get enough i am going to buy the DVD set.

... well, I was gonna make a thread on this but, I figured somebody else already did. Thus, a revived dead thread.

It's not exactly a "theme." But my favorite piece of Indy music currently that I CAN'T get out of my head is the music that plays as Indy and Shortround are stuck in the spike room as the ceiling is coming down.

Ya know, the "dum dum da-dum dum dum da-dum... dum dum da-dum dum dum da-dum!!" hahaha.

I love Marion's Theme, it's just such a beautiful piece. Usually I don't listen to a lot of "soundtrack" music, but that is one that I love. Raider's March is of course a close second.

Just about every theme in the three movies would be up in my top 25 favorite. But I have to say that the combination of the Grail theme and the Raiders march (especially during the ride off into the sunset) is really sticking out in my mind right now. Simply because I always think of the combination of Connery and Ford. It will be the one thing I'll miss in the new movie. But, the absence makes Last Crusade more unique in the series.

I can't wait to hear what John Williams brings to the fourth installment.
It'll be another classic score. :up:

I have categorized mine, as it's the only way to do it...;)

1) 'Raiders March' – Standout track of the trilogy to date. It’s Indy’s theme c’mon.

2) ‘Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra’ + ‘Belly of the Steel Beast’ - Best action music. I couldn’t decide between the two.

3) Marion’s theme – Most beautiful piece.

I love the Crusade Grail theme, the father/son theme, the belly of the steal beast music (most adrenaline pumping music ever) and Marion's theme.

I like, overall, the themes in Crusade. I think John Williams just totally nailed down that whole score. It really fits with the nature of the macguffin.

Favorite Theme Overall: That's tough. Tank chase/Short Round's Theme interpolated over main and other themes/Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra

Favorite Romance Theme: Marion's Theme

Favorite Villain Theme: Parade of the Slave Children (I know. But it's ominous)

Favorite Action Scene Music: Mine Car Chase!! Nothing comes close, it's so thrilling and fast with a nice ebbing ending!!

Favorite Main Titles Music: The whole opening of Temple gives me Ah-here-we-go-again-great-adventure! goosebumps every time! ;)

Favorite End Credits Music: As mentioned above, it's Temple, hands down.

Relentless is a good description. The track NEVER lets up! What has always been striking to me is how almost joyful the music is up until the moment Indy gets shot, then it really grows some teeth!

Favorite Romance Theme: Marion's them- Probably my favorite love theme of all time not just from the Indy films.
Favorite Villain Theme: Mola Ram's for sheer scariness, Toht's cue from the bar scene is a close second. Right when they open the door.
Favorite Action Scene Theme: TRUCK CHASE!!!
Favorite Opening Sequence Theme: Like all three basiclly the same.
Favorite Credits Music: Temple of Doom.

The Scherzo. Although it's equestrian in character, it's transposed onto something nearly contemporary. :D

Aside from the Ark theme and the Raiders march from the films, I like the (I'm not sure what it's called) "family theme" from YIJC. There's a lot of music from the show that makes me smile. :)

I agree, that's insane. (Actually it's probably a credit to how well-made TLC was to make you enough of a true fan to be a member of the Raven before seeing Raiders. I saw TLC first too, and probably would have done the same thing had I known this site existed. ;) )
Okay, my favorites... that's tough. I love it ALL!
But if I had to pick...
1) The Raiders March: classic.
2) Marion's Theme: one of the most beautiful love themes John Williams has ever written. I hum it constantly.
3) The Ark of the Covenant: the perfect blend of mystery, allure, and danger.
4)The Sankara Stones piece. I never really got what was so great about a bunch of glowing rocks, but the music when Indy is holding the stone in the Temple of Doom gets me every time. I almost find myself believing that the stones are worth something.
5) Pretty much everything in TLC, from the "Young Indy" bit to the "Father and Son" theme. I also love the Nazi theme (I'm NOT a Nazi, don't freak out)... I hum that one too. It's pretty catchy, if you listen to it for a while. :D

Anyway I agree about the Shankara Stones music from TOD. That cue along with the way Ford plays it makes the scene. The way Indy looks like when the light hits the map room in Raiders, when he gets the stones in TOD or when he discovers the second marker in Venice in TLC is great.

I absolutely love the music that is played when they bring out the ark. I believe it's called "Ark Trek". (yes/no? Help me out here!) It's so mysterious and eerie... I love it!

I agree with Mr. Ticket. The Scherzo For Motorcycle And Orchestra is the highlight piece from LC. Truck chase from Raiders and main incidental theme from TOD. ( Don't know what it's called).

Hey great has John Williams been to this series when one of the most iconic music pieces of Raiders, "In the Idol Temple" isn't even mentioned until the fourth page of this thread? You can listen to that piece and literally feel those tarantulas crawling along your back...and can feel the sand sifting through your fingers as you try to gauge the weight of the idol....

Least favorites include the Ark, and Marion's theme. I can't explain it; I've just never liked those two. Marion's theme is too similar to Han/Leia love theme from Star Wars.

I have to admit that for me the soundtrack of LC is my favourite, the most "mature" Indy tracks :)

I've just never liked those two. Marion's theme is too similar to Han/Leia love theme from Star Wars.

They are very similar. I think though, that the Star Wars theme is more grand and epic, whereas the Raiders theme is more intimate.

I'd say my favorite music from the whole entire trilogy would have to be in TOD when Indys on the platform or walkway or whatever and that thuggee runs up and swings his sword and indy ducks causing the thugge to cut that rope behind Indy, well ayway I love the music that plays wen Indy is swinging on the rope trying to reach the mine cart that Shorty and Willie are in. It only last afew seconds but I love it, my favorite of the whole trilogy.
