I'm in New Haven since June 27 evening and that's so great.
We can see many things and really close !
But oh my GOD !!!
I can't believe what happend to me today.
STEVEN SPIELBERG walked in front of me just 20 cm away from me, and I was so choqued that I can't tell anything and just watch him going away.
And I were wearing that t-shirt with the drawing of him !
But I try many things to get contact to meet him and I never dare hope to see him just walking in front of me, and not for the 1st day !!!
That was just incredible
I'm sooooo sad, I think I hate myself for that, it was a great chance to give him my drawings.
I hope I will meet him another day, but "really meet him"
And he didn't comment the shirt at all?
What a jerk.

What a jerk.
He may simply have walked by, and not been looking her way.

Yeah I don't know if he saw me.
He was just walking fast to the set for work.
And today I saw him a lot of time, but not as close ;)
Because he was on top of a truck for shooting.
And with 3 friends we were in the end of the street, where the truck turn around.
So when it turn around, Steven Spielberg say hi to people waving his hands!!!
I'm almost sure that he see me with my "Steven Spielberg" t-shirt an my Swiss cap!
Next time it will be the meeting ;)

Just keep trying to get yourself noticed, and hopefully be in the right place at the right time. Maybe you can get an opportunity to talk to crew or staff of the film, and tell them about yourself. They might be able to introduce you to him.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH !!!!!!
I MADE IT !!!
This morning with Fred and Aaron, we were awake at 5h00.
At 6h00 we were on the Green Park for met Shia Labeouf !
He was very kind and nice, but he couldn’t help us for Steven Spielberg !
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/Indiana.Jones/Steven%20Spielberg/MEET%20SPIELBERG/SHIA.jpg
Then we went for breakfast. Later, we were walking in the streets searching for maybe Steven Spielberg, and we saw a man with a cap !
So we aproach and it was STEVEN SPIELBERG !!!
He was on the other side of the road, and he waves at us to come, but his security guards say stop, and wait there !
So we wait a moment and we STRESSED because he was only in the other side of the road and we can’t go through !!! And we were affraid if he goes away !!!
But then a guard comes to us and tell us that Steven Spieblerg is ok for meet us and sign my huge drawing, but then we must not try to be bad guys and following him everywhere.
So we cross the street and STRESS STRESS STRESS, we wait near a wall, then Steven Spielberg comes to us and shake our hands.
Then I give him my file with my drawings and pictures he asked me if it’s really for him and I say « YES of course !!!» He was sooo happy !
He look a little bit at it and say that my drawings are great !!!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/Indiana.Jones/Steven%20Spielberg/MEET%20SPIELBERG/MeetStevenSpielberg.jpg
Then I give him my « Director’s Chair » with my name on it for sign it ! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/Indiana.Jones/Steven%20Spielberg/MEET%20SPIELBERG/AUTOGRAPHE1.jpg
Then he ask me to show him the HUGE drawings that I print and say he want to sign it for me !
And he made a LONG signature !!!!

I tell him that I was very affraid of E.T. and he say « You were affraid of E.T. ??? »
Then I say « Yeah I made a therapy for that »
And he laught, that was just GREAT !!!
I’m so happy, it was my BIGGEST DREAM and it comes true !

That is really fantastic Elodie! I looked at your all of the drawings at your Myspace page and you are very talented.
Where you nervous showing Steven Spielberg your drawings of him? As an artist myself, I am never sure how real people will react to a drawing of themselves.

I admit, when you were first planning your trip to New Haven, I thought it was a silly idea, if only because it might not pay off and would probably be among the lesser ways one could spend the same money on a vacation, but this almost certainly proves me wrong. I'm elated for you that it went so well!

Wow, I always thought I was the only person who was ever scared of ET. Great drawings, too, Elodie!

Wow, thanks for all those nice messages !
For the New Haven Register, it's funny, because originally we wanted to make this article for maybe help us to meet Steven Spielberg.
If maybe somebody of his crew or himself would have read it, he could contact us.
We planned the interview on July 2 at 11:00am.
But that morning at 8:00, we met Steven Spielberg :D
So the interview was very different :p

O ... MY ... GOD !!!
It was a while since I checked your posts, Elodie... but now you kinda hit the roof !!! I accidentally came across those photo's in your DeviantArt gallery
(over here for the lot of you: http://elodiejones.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=24 )
My jaw dropped and I couldn't say a thing for like two minutes straight. That is so incredibly *wow*.
By the way, you must have ruled in so much planning just to get a glimpse of him !!
Right now I shouldn't be envious but... WAY TO GO GIRL !!!
<SIGH> I wish I could show Spielberg my own Master's Paper I'm finishing this month... only Spielberg's autograph (or that of Harrison's) would make my college years complete ! P.s. That master's thesis is ironically about museum acquisitions in my home town LOL. Bet Marcus Brody would love to read that :-)
Closest thing I ever came to that was visiting the set of Episode II over in Ksar Hadada (Tunisia) where they were about to shoot the Tatooine scenes... but the sets were still been constructed and no trail of George Lucas around yet...
Noone can take that moment of yours Elodie... treasure it like the biggest Idol you've ever witnessed.
You rock!

I felt exactly the same way you did, but I only had to make a train trip from Pennsylvania. It will always be a very treasured memory. I saw you on the news in New Haven when I was there, and I actually prayed that your dream would come true. When I found out that it had-- and especially that you had encountered Spielberg not once but twice-- it brought a tear to my eye, I was so happy for you. If you follow your heart, you CAN achieve miracles.

It's not a freaking miracle...it worked out, and that's great, but let's keep things in perspective. I know I'm asking for that at an internet message board, but can we at least try to have some sense of what's actually important in the landscape?

If Spielberg had offered to take her under his wing and let her direct a segment from Indy 4... then I'd say it was a miracle. As it was, it was just a stroke of good fortune that you she got to meet somebody she respected. I've met a few celebrities... wouldn't consider that a miracle... hell, I wouldn't even consider it good fortune. They're just people (sometimes really self-centered people... *cough* Tom Savini *cough*)...

Well, no, you pretty clearly implied that it was by talking about it along with your commentary on Elodie and her good fortune. Also, do you have even a remote idea of what a miracle would be? Divine intervention, by which I mean to say, following your dreams really can't have any effect on it.
At least you make sure we remember your name every time you post, I guess.

I believe in small miracles as well as large, but in my experience debates over these things get nowhere, because it's a matter of faith-- people either believe or they don't. If it makes you happy, just forget I used the word miracle.
Attila the Professor
09-06-2007, 02:01 AM
If you believe in miracles, fine. I'm not going to take issue with that. It just totally cheapens both Elodie's efforts to go all the way to freaking Connecticut from Switzerland and her good fortune (chance being an integral part of existence) in being able to meet Spielberg and see him for as long as she did to bring miracles into this situation, apart from, in my opinion, cheapening miracles.
I'd forget you used the word if you hadn't been so deadset on using it time and time again. It's not sloppiness; it's intellectual carelessness. Anyhow, I'm through.

Ah ah ah very funny :D
I think the real miracle with this meeting, is that I was in the right place at the right time.
Cause there was NO OTHER CHANCES to meet him.
I talked to many people, assistants, some very close to him. But the only chance to meet him is catch him in the street and have the chance to be accepted by him...
That morning was crazy. We met Shia LaBeouf and we asked help, but he says that Steven Spielberg was too busy and he can't help us. He says that he will probably be the only person that we will meet.
So we were so saaaad and we walked in streets, just walking without thinking of where we were going... and we saw Steven Spielberg, only with his crew. It was THE CHANCE !!!

He did meet a few others briefly-- one lucky guy wandered into the filming area and got to take photos with Spielberg and Ford before he was escorted off the set-- and Spielberg took the camera away from another fan who was filming him and turned his own camera on him! The film in that camera will be a keeper, I imagine...
But you're right-- your experience was unique. Nobody else got to spend that much time with him! I call that a-- no, I'd better keep my mouth shut.

I'd say slim to none, if almost any other big director was involved-- it's a Cinderella Story, one of several that almost makes it seem as though it was Spielberg's intention that Indy 4 be something of an interactive experience between the fans & the filmakers. My fedora's off to him. :hat:
