Is it true that American audiences went ballistic and cheered the "We are going to die!" line? In Britain, we are more reserved to the point of mute, especially in the cinema. Actually, the only time I experienced a truly lively audience was at Last Crusade. The whole place was a barrage of laughter, you'd think Steve Martin was being wild and crazy below the screen. I wish British audiences were more like the Americans ones.

I pretty much hate lively audiences. While I appreciate the enthusiasm of a fan based crowd cheering for their hero.Though usually that isn't the case. It's always some ignorant teenie boppers on their cellphones,Hooting and hollering,Throwing bottles,Etc...
Anyways...Usually why I stick to a matinee,Less of a ruckuss:up:

Some audiences are more lively than others. Friday and Saturday night audiences seem to let their hair down more, but maybe it's just the release after a long work week.
I myself prefer movies on Sunday mornings when there's not a lot of people there. One of my biggest pet peeves is having a movie ruined by obnoxious people, and I've had a few really bad experiences in this department. I never got to see ToD in theaters so I don't know about the "We are going to die!" line.
As for KotCS, I'll probably check that one out on or near opening night. It'll be such an event movie, that I wouldn't want to miss out. Usually the die hards show up on opening night, so the chances of the movie be ruined are lessened. Maybe more crowd participation ie., clapping, cheering, etc., but that's about it I'd guess.
KotCS is going to be up there in my opinion with The Phantom Menace in terms of anticipation. Not nearly as large as Star Wars, but big nonetheless.

In Japan it's rude to laugh in a theater. Anyway, I'm definitely going to see KOCS opening night at a big theater. Hopefully I won't be the only one dressed as Indy.

When I went to the theaters to see "Attack of the Clones", everyone in the theater was cheering like crazy when Yoda was fighting Dooku.
I hope that no one cheers that loudly in the theater while watching KOTCS!

That's just dumb. What do you do when something is real funny?
Oh thats right, the poor old Japanese don't even get comedies like Knocked Up. Instead they're choking on Godzilla XVI: Bride of Godzilla.

Well, I can see people laughing at it, but not cheering so much. It's one of my favorite bits in Temple, though. ToD is so awesome.

I always try to go opening night. That's when you get the die hard fans for big movies that are eagerly anticipated. Some theateres tend to draw different crowds. One theater in my area draws teenie-boppers who can't seem to figure out how to turn off their cell phones, or still want to gossip about the first time they kissed some one. Another theater draws an older crowd that cheers at the right times, at climatctic scenes and such and really make the experience enjoyable. I tend to go to this one on opening night for movies that I really want to see without interruption.

Don't know about American audiences. When I was over there, there wasn't any movies I was interested in seeing, so I could find out if the American audience is louder than the Australian audience. Australians are generally quiet, unless it's a big event movie close to opening night, i.e. Pirates, Transformers. Big budgets after teens mostly.

The only time I notice the audience being loud is on a Friday or Saturday night when the theatre is packed with teens and the typical friday night assortment of jackasses.... this is exactly why I avoid the movies on busy nights.. ( or large crowds of teens period)

Hey, Big Newport, that's where I'll probably go! That was the theater I was talking about where the audience is really cool. The other theater I was referring to is at the Block in Orange. Man the audience there is horrible.
