Since we only have a movie thread and not a music one I thought I would start one to see what people are listening to and if anyone is going to any good concerts this year. I'm going to see the Foo Fighters in two weeks and I got 8th row tickets to see Tom Petty in June. I'm also hoping Stone Temple Pilots gets back together this summer so I can go see them. I was also going to go see Rush but decided to skip them this time around. So, any concert goers out there?!?

I wish. no one I like is coming to Oregon-or at least I think not.

Had no concert plans so far this year, but within the last 15 minutes I grabbed some tickets for a Huey Lewis and the News concert at a casino here in California. This will be my third year in a row seeing them, though in 2006 and 2007 I was within the first five rows. This time I'll be in the 25th row since the tickets have been on sale for awhile now. Still, should be a great show.

I went to three concerts last year, but this may be the only one I go to in 2008 since I'm starting to save up money for San Diego ComiCon.

I'm going to the Liverpool Sound Concert in England in June, where Sir Paul McCartney is headlining :D

They are playing the Spectrum on the 21st and I couldn't get tickets to that show so a friend and I are driving up to Binghamton on the 22nd to see them. Should be a great show!

Cool, Im sure there will be a ton of scalpers at the spectrum, maybe I'll check it out.

Good luck. I was going to go that route too but the tickets are WAY overpriced for the Foo Fighters. I've seen GA for the floor going for like 150 per ticket. When I saw those prices we decided to get tickets in Binghamton for 42 bucks and just drive.

Well, I live in Nashville and they just tore down our outside ampletheater so our large concerts have all but deminished. I saw the Police last year in Louisville, KY and I hope Tom Petty makes a stop here. I'd love to go to Bonaroo this year to see Pearl Jam but I can't do the three days of camping and not bathing. I'm not that much into it.

Sucks they aren't playing the Tweeter.

Aww man, I go to concerts all the time. This year I've already seen the Foo Fighters... just a few weeks ago. I plan on seeing Panic! At the Disco, Weezer, Coldplay, John Mayer (possibly), ACL (Austin City Limits Music Festival) and some others I haven't decided upon yet.

In the past I've got to meet a few bands I really liked too... like most recently Fall Out Boy, The All-American Rejects and Switchfoot.

I love going. I'd like to see Green Day in concert one day.

I wasn't in many concerts in my life.
Probably because Argentina isn't a main target in any band world tour... and how many bands can do a world tour anyway?

But the best concert I've seen was the one Pearl Jam did in Buenos Aires two years ago
Eddie Vedder was amazed because the crowd sang along even the guitar solos!

A yearly pilgrimage to see Jimmy Buffet and of course Anti-flag!

I saw the Police last year in Louisville, KY

I'm jealous. I so wanted to see The Police's reunion tour last year, but the tickets were beyond my range. Heard nothing but great reviews for their tour, though.

KISS is coming next month. I'll be there. Also Maroon 5 is coming however I will need to choose between Maroon 5 and going to Supanova Comic Con. Hard decision coz they're both in the same week.

Going to see Pink Martini in a month, and then probably the Mountain Goats soon afterwards.

I think Petty's playing a few dates in Ohio but nothing in TN or KY. I'm going to see him in at a sold out show in Philly and they already added a second show that has sold out of it's lower level seats and they just went on sale Monday.

I got to see Genesis play in Philly last September and it was fantastic. I also saw Nickelback, Three Days Grace, Live, Breaking Benjamin, Daughtry, Staind, Seether, Finger Eleven, and Chevelle last year. After the Foo Fighters and Tom Petty concerts this summer I'll only want to go see Pearl Jam and U2. I'm guessing U2 will tour at the end of this year or beginning of next year since they have a new album coming out sometime this year.

It was incredible, we had the cheap seats ($75, if you wanna call that cheap) and right before they took the stage a worker at Churchill Downs came over to my group and gave us new tickets to move to the front. We ended up sitting in the $350 price seats, just a stones throw away from Stewart, Andy and Sting. An amazing concert to say the least.

...And to Arab Swordsman, I might have to look into those Ohio dates or hope Atlanta is added to his tour, thanks for the info.

They have the full tour listing at tompetty.com. He's playing Cincinnati and then Atlanta the night after in July. I don't think the Atlanta show has gone on sale yet either.

I joined the Petty fanclub and ended up getting 8th row seats during the presale. Definitely worth it!

8th row, sweet. I was going to do it for the Police fan club but it cost $100. How much was it for the Petty fan club?

I do indeed. Thanks for that.

(That's the only real perk of being a mod - excising silly typos like that hours past the normal edit deadline.)

40 bucks which included a 10 dollar gift voucher for the online store and 10 percent off each order. Not a bad deal at all.

Well, it looks like I'm screwed for my Foo Fighters concert Friday night. NE Pennsylvania and Southern New York are supposed to get a nasty snowstorm during the day Friday and into the night. Hopefully they'll cancel the show so I can go another time. The one freaking day that we get any kind of snow around here and it's the day of the show!

If Morrissey is scheduled for a US show and I have the money, then that'd be great.

This summer is going to be a fun and exciting one since I'll be attending a couple of shows in the NY area. Rather catch up on them then just sit around in the sun burning like hell:D

I'll be watching Spoon(7/15), Black Lips(8/3), The Cure(6/20), and the Siren Music Festival(7/19)(Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks and Broken Social Scene will be performing) and, hopefully, Sonic Youth(7/4)

The last concert I have been to was the Siren Music Festival back in '04. I remember Death Cab for Cutie performing then. Not a huge fan of theirs, but I think they put on a great show:) I also liked Mission of Burma.

I have an huge interest in eclectic mixes of rock ranging from Indie, post-punk, classic rock and some folk.

Any concerts that you guys have been to or trying to attend, at least?

Thanks for the heads up for the Who tribute:)

Hope I'll be able to see Sonic Youth then. It's a free show at Battery Park, NYC and the tickets sold out fast so I'm just hoping that I can be able to see the show from a distance.

Heh, I'm going to see the Boston Pops tomorrow/tonight and July 4th. But I don't know the next time I'll see a concert where the music has words.

Almost forgot, I went to Carnegie Hall last October to watch a piano recital. Not bad I should say since I used to be a pianist.

Unfortunately, i'm not seeing any concert this summer.. But i saw some good ones over the last year. The last concert i went to was The Australian Pink Floyd Show, which was amazingly awsome.
Before that i saw Chris Rea (sorry, got a weakness for low voices..), The Police, The Dave Matthews Band and Roger Waters' Dark Side of the Moon tour.
I really want to see Coldplay again, but they're not performing in Dublin..

< Lover of music here folks!

So far this summer I've already seen Phil Lesh and Friends (to satisfy my inner Deadhead) and, last night, The Swell Season (to strike my inner emotional chords). Both of these shows were off-the-wall fabulous. The remainder of my summer looks thus:

Jun 27th - Rush (As in Closer to the Heart, 2112, Spirit of Radio, etc.)
Jul 12th - Tortoise (evolved noise-rock that works in unbeliveable textures within their stuff)
Jul 19th - Umphrey's McGee + Sound Tribe Sector 9 (aggressive-progressive jam rock + laid-back instrumental breakbeats)
Jul 21st - Punch Brothers (Chris Thile's troupe of musical masterminds playing wildly outlandish bluegrass masterpieces)
Aug 1st - Erich Kunzel conducting JOHN WILLIAMS! (All of his noticeable themes including Indy and then a sweeping passage through ALL the best of the SW films!!)

And I work at Ravinia, which is a music venue and I get to hear a ton of great stuff all summer! Good thread!

I saw Tom Petty two weeks ago and it was fantastic! I was also really impressed by Steve Winwood who was the opening act. Being right in front of the stage didn't hurt either.

I have tickets to see Live and Collective Soul in August and that's it for the rest of the summer. I missed out on getting Pearl Jam tickets for this week in Camden but I'll see them next time around.
