He said "Hey! You now; come here!" in heavily-accented English.

No, he's speaking German, just not very well. He' saying "Komm her", not "come here"

"Hey, thin man! Come here! Come here! Come here! Come on, fight! Boy, come down! Down now!"

When he pulls Indy off the ground before he bites his arm he says "Come on, stand up! I'll smash your face in, I tell you!"

That's what he says? "I'll smash your face in, I tell you!" Really? Hahaha!!! That's funny.

That's like when I found out the guy in the tank in LC says "These Americans fight like women" just before Indy kicks the periscope and it hits him in the head. I took my LC script to my high school German teacher one day and asked her to translate all the German dialogue for me. Oddly enough, whatever Vogel yells up to the blimp she couldn't makes heads or tails of and said it looked like jibberish. It basically translated into "You live and to ever see me again born." LOL!!

I always interpreted it as "You'll hear from me": "(Du*) wirst nochmal hören von mir!" To be correct it should be "Du wirst nochmal von mir hören!"
I'm not 100 % sure, though, if that's what the actor was trying to say.

*You don't really here him say that.

Nurhachi, after calling him "thin guy" he just adresses him as "Junge" (As in Carl Gustav Jung) which is the german word for "boy".

Just checked the script. Maybe just a typo on your part, but it says "bören" instead of "hören." Not sure if that makes any difference in the translation or not if it was just a typo. :)

I always enjoy hearing what the villians say. Like in Last Crusade when on the tank the German says "Ha ha. The American, he fights like a girl!"

That's hilarious. Anyone have any clue what the german soldier was saying to Indy in Raiders, when he's stealing the Nazi uniform?

I'm not sure, it's obviouse he wasn't happy with him. The only geraman words I can understand in any of the movies is when Vogel says "Guten tag, herr Jones", he said "good mornin, Mr. Jones"

Still remembering some of my basic German from high school, when the soldier steps up and says, "Guten tag. Mude?" he's saying "Good day. Tired?" Not sure about the next part, but then he asks "where is your hat?" and says something about "You look like a pig." You can clearly hear him say "Schwein" at that point. :D Not sure about the rest of the stuff, and I don't have a RAIDERS script handy.

I'm nitpicking here, but "guten tag" is "good day" and "guten morgen" is "good morning." :)

I could understand some of it. He says "Hello. Tired? Why are you sleeping? Where is your something something something?" (I got lost after that)

No problem. And also "guten nacht" is "good night."

Also, "hamburger" is..... "hamburger." :D That's why I loved taking German. It was rather easy to learn because much of it is very similar to English.

OK, so anybody figure out what the German towards the end of Raiders who confronts Indy after he's put on the uniform that's a little to tight says? I vaguely remember my German-speaking grandmother telling me years ago when I asked that it pretty much had to do with what it looks like, your uniform is messy, dirty, your hair needs work, etc... but I don't know the direct translation.

Fun thread. Someone needs to make a list of the translation of all the German spoken in Raiders and Last Crusade. All I understand is "Scheise!" (used by both Gobler and the Tought Sergeant; Gobler's utterance of it always makes me laugh; "Ah, scheise!"). My sister knows German and has told me a little bit of what they're saying, and even without subtitles it's fairly easy to 'get' the gist of what the intent is. I.e., when the Tough Sergeant yells something and all his guys go, "Jawohl!" before climbing out onto the sides of the truck, it's easy enough to surmise he ordered them, well, climb out onto the sides of the truck.

This brings up one minor complaint I have about the DVDs, namely their closed captioned. Whenever the Nazis speak German, it just says "(speaking German)." This is pretty pathetic, especially in a series of films with the idea of globetrotting and visiting other parts of the world as one of its main draws. Heck, my DVD of The Great Escape has the spoken German dialogue included in the closed captions, word for word (and my dad once translated all of what the Germans were saying, but all I can remember from it is the part where Bartlett is in Von Luger's office, and Von Luger's dialogue in German is him telling the guard to remove Bartlett's handcuffs).

You must have not read to the bottom of the first page. :)

When you're watching the films normally, the German isn't subtitled because they want you to feel like Indy. He doesn't know what they're saying, but is able to work out the gist of it and react accordingly (eg. he understands that the German mechanic is beckoning him to fight, he understands that the German officer in the submarine base is angry at him resting, the two Germans telling him to follow him into the bar).

Its all about the audience and Indy feeling the same way.

D'oh! I missed that somehow, geez I musta had a bad day. However it doesn't finish the whole little speech the guy had. Any further info on his lines?
