The USA Network has an Indiana Jones page up for the upcoming marathon airings of all 3 Indy movies in May:

Kind of a strange order they're showing them in.

Yeah, that's strange. I remember the last time USA did a marathon a few years ago they showed all three in order the first night, then they were just cycled randomly for repeats throughout the week.

I wonder if that weird version of Raiders that adds more sound effects and dialogue during the truck chase is still used for TV airings. I'll have to try and tune in to find out.

Yea, they're going backwards on the Indy airings...they're even putting "National Treasure" to start off the marathon:

http://www.usanetwork.com/schedules/sched.php?sdate=5/10/2008&switch=2

Saturday May 10

12:00 PM USA MOVIE: NATIONAL TREASURE
03:00 PM USA MOVIE: INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
06:00 PM USA MOVIE: INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM
08:30 PM USA MOVIE: RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK

Only thing I can figure is they wanted to show RAIDERS in prime time. Which is why it will be shown last.

Raiders of Clay

Well I know what Im doing that day. I can't remember the last time Indy was on T.V. In whatever order it comes in it is a great way to kick of May.:D

Kind of a strange order they're showing them in.

Not really. Obviously they're showing them in the series' internal chronological order, just choosing to sequence Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in the series according to its earliest scenes rather than its latest ones.
;)

(Possibly interesting note: Counting all of the Young Indy material collectively as a single "project" equivalent to a single feature film, as is often done... has anyone ever noticed how each successive screen Indy production is at least in part a prequel to what has come before? Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom takes place entirely before Raiders of the Lost Ark, the opening minutes of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade take place before either of those, and most of The (Adventures of) Young Indiana Jones (Chronicles) takes place before any of the movies, aside from the Crusade prologue. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the latest of four feature films and a TV series, should actually be the first of all those Raiders follow-ups to actually be set entirely after the original movie - at least, as far as we spoiler-dodgers know, anyway [and no, that's not an invitation for spoiler-savvy fans to correct me if I'm wrong; there'll be plenty of time for that after May 22nd]...)

Why would you want to sit through an edited movie with commercials if you have the DVDs?

I just noticed that the guy was says "You are watching Indiana Jones on USA, blah blah blah" just said "You can get Indiana Jones on DVD for the first time on May 13th!"

WTF is that?
The first Indiana Jones on DVD was in 2003. I know, because I got them the day it came out!
Why did USA lie like that? Or did I just mishear what that guy said?

I recorded TOD in HD because my DVD is scratched. I was watching Raiders in HD it looked good.

Sci-fi will also be airing the trilogy (in the same order as USA) in a couple weeks, maybe next.

I noticed some weird stuff I'd never seen before while watching Raiders just now. First, did it seem like the shot where Gobler and the Troop car go over the cliff was redone with CG? It looked sharper and more realistic than I remember it. I haven't seen Raiders in awhile though so I could easily be wrong. The second is in this scene.

http://www.theraider.net/showimage.php?ImageUrl=http://www.theraider.net/films/raiders/gallery/dvdscreenshots/330.jpg

I'm positive that Toht is a dummy in this shot. He never moves a centimeter, is slouched crazily low in his seat, and his jacket is folded in a weird way. Has anyone ever noticed this?

yodazone
05-10-2008, 10:01 PM
The colors are definitely retouched! Especially in the final Ark sequence where the lightning and fires are flying everywhere.

Also in "Last Crusade" the desert/canyon scenes at the end looked alot redder.

I watched all three yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised at the respect USA gave to the films. Not only were they presented in widescreen, but the commercials were sparse, and their placements didn't seem to interfere with the story as much as a lot of commercial placements do.

My only gripe is that they played that DVD commercial at every commercial break.

Toht looks to have no neck at all in that one. Suspicious, indeed.

Lucky. :) I want to go see KOTCS again (for a third time) but I doubt my parents or my brother would be willing to drop me off to see a movie I've already seen twice.

Oh well, I'll just have to settle for seeing TOD on tv. ;) I'm always up for a new Indy adventure.

USA has done a great job in presenting the films-I usually hate watching good movies on network TV, due to all the cutting and commercials- but these (well, at least Raiders so far) were cut well, with sparse commercials placed in actual appropriate places, and the quality (on my non-HD tv) looked fantastic! It may be ridiculous to be waiting for a 24 year old film that I have on DVD to air on network TV- but I'm exited for TOD tonight!

Unfortunatly not. But I may be able to see it soon if it's showing at the movie theatre near the summer camp I'm going to in about a week. *crosses fingers*

And on a side note, I'm watching TOD right now and I'm really enjoying it so far!

Nope, not before last night. I wasn't allowed to see it when I was younger (now I know why!) and we never owned it 'cause it never was a favorite in my family, so I never had a chance to see it until last night.

I'm the same way. Lots of movies I don't bother watching on TV because of commercial interruptions and the cropped aspect ratio, and because I may also have them on DVD anyway. But the Indy films are a small handful of movies that I almost always end up watching whenever I catch them on TV. :)

My mom caught the truck chase in Raiders Thursday, but I missed it. Darn. I wanted to see if they still used the funky-looking redo of Gobler's chasm fall. Did they?

Anyway, I was able to come in and sit down and watch the last of Temple of Doom. I was a little upset when they cut out Indy's hilarious, exasperated, "Oh....****" on the bridge, but glad they kept "Prepare to meet Kali...in hell!"
