This is inspired by DrHapgood's thread...

Where in the Indy Timeline does Paris Disneyland's Temple of Peril take place?

and

What's the background story for the ride?

I've never been to Disneyland Paris, but from what I've read, there's really no story there. It's just a rollercoaster with some Indy theming.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Its from the theme park era......... The year was 1993 and Old Indy (George Hall) decided to make a ride in one of the city's he held dear to him...... Paris. Indy wanted to give people young and old a once in a lifetime chance to have an adventure just like he did back in the early 1930's. Indy told imagenes he wanted the ride to be like a similar experiance he had in 1935 whe he and two of his closest friends escaped from a group of Thuggee guards.

Than Indy moved on to Anaheim California........... and you can fill in the blanks from there

DisneySeas in Tokyo also has a Temple of Peril ride, except it's called Raging Spirits and it doesn't have the Indy overlay. Same ride: rollercoaster around ruins with pyrotechnics and a loop. And it's right next door to Temple of the Crystal Sull.

Temple of Peril really has no storyline unfortunately. There are no visuals or real date / event references. It's simply a roller coaster themed to Indiana Jones.

As for Temple of the Crystal Skull, I have never been there, so I can't say for sure. The storyline here differs from Forbidden Eye a bit, but the idea is basically the same.

Indy discovers the Temple of the Crystal Skull in the Lost River Delta region of South America along with his sidekick Paco. Through further exploration of the Temple he finds that it houses the legendary Fountain of Youth, which is guarded by a Crystal Skull. Indy goes in to explorer the deepest chambers of the Temple, and given what they've already found and the intrigue of the tales of the Fountain of Youth, Paco decides to make some money by giving tours through the Temple.

There really is no major event history or timeline for Crystal Skull. Plus it all seems to occur in one swoop rather than the 2 Part scenario of Forbidden Eye.

The thing is over at Temple of Forbidden Eye, we have elements that tell us the story considering it was one of the biggest undertakings WDI has ever made. We have 'Eye On The Globe' Newsreels, Radio Broadcasts, Telegrams and detailed maps that tell us the full story and give us the Timeline. Not to the mention the involvement of Sallah and the amazing 30 minute 'Making Of' special created back when the Attraction opened featuring Karen Allen and John Rhys-Davies.

I do not believe Crystal Skull has Radio Broadcasts or Newsreels (which are the biggest parts of the story / timeline since they're the ones that effectively divide the story into 2 parts) from what I have surmised of their Audio Loops and videos of the Queue Area. I know they have an office for Indy, but whether they have detailed telegrams or further storytelling elements; I am not certain.

I hope that answers your questions. I've been looking for more Crystal Skull info myself, but given they apparently just went for a pseudo-clone of the Disneyland Attraction, they don't seem to have put as much effort into the story and timeline element. So effectively you could place it pretty much anywhere.

If there really is no storyline in the queue area for Temple of Peril (though I find that hard to believe) one could estimate a date based on the vintage of the trucks and other equipment at the ride...

I thought I read somewhere that the storyline of DisneySeas' Temple of the Crystal Skull is tied in with their Tower of Terror. They dropped the Twilight Zone overlay and the storyline is something like Mr. Hightower coming back with a relic from the Lost River Delta which sent him to another dimension in his own hotel. Is this right?
