Has anybody caught any similarities? Last night I was watching A New Hope and the scene in Mos Eisley with that spy telling the stormtroopers where Luke and company were heading reminded me of the Monkey Man in Raiders telling the Nazis where Indy and Marion were.

Indy's line "I have a bad feeling about this" from Kotcs is a Star Wars classic of course and maybe the Indy/Han Solo shoots first scenes from Raiders and A New Hope (original one).
there are also some things like same sound effects ect.

Also, Marion/Mary and Obi-Wan/Ben being known by different names after disappearing for a long time.

Indy running after Thuggees only to realise there's many more of them behind is simmilar to the scene in ANH where Han chases group of stormtroopers on the Death Star.

In ROTLA I think the snake pit is kind of similar to the trash compactor scene.
The Shaman character in TOD can argued that he's similar to Yoda in spirit.
LC and ROTJ can be seen as a father and son film with the fathers realizing their errors and mend their ways for their sons.
The motorcycle chase scene in LC similar to the speeder bike chase scene in LC?
Marcus Brody is more C3PO in LC than Obi Wan Kenobish in ROTLA.
In KOTCS (and I'm surprised that no one mentions this already) Mac can be seen as similar to Lando both moustache afficanados were friends to Han and Indy until they betray them for their own personal use. Also the Indy forced to look into the skull always reminded me of the torture scene that Han was put through with Mac and Lando looking on with regret and unease.
In KOTCS Mutt and Spalko's duel in the jungle chase so reminds me of the Mustafar duel with Anakin and Obi - Wan when they were riding on platforms on top of the lava.

The fourth film in both series sucked.

When I saw that you had posted in this thread, I knew that was exactly what you had said

I saw a similarity with the trash compactor scene, but in TOD where the room is shrinking with the spears coming down onto Indy and Short Round.

So no one is going to post the most obvious link? Or does it not need to be said?
Their music sounds the same; John Williams recycles like mad. I can hum Raiders March-Star Wars Theme-Superman theme without missing a beat. I just started to do the same with Princess Leia's Theme-Han Solo and the Princess-Marion's Theme.

Gosh, Harrison Ford is in both of them too. Coincidence?

Not true. 16 years between ROTJ and TPM (1983-1999), 19 years between LC and KOTCS (1989-2008)

I'm not talking about the release dates, I'm referring to the internal storyline.

They have... strong similarities :p As someone who has been listening to the Star Wars soundtracks for years, and then coming into Indy more recently, upon first listen to much of the Indy soundtracks I kept having double-takes on what I was listening to. There are very many similar themes/cues, etc. The most glaring one, to me, is the aforementioned Princess Leia's Theme/Luke and Leia and Marion's theme.
Personally, since I liked the original (Star Wars) themes so much, I don't mind the similarities when they appear- and I like the variations.

My dad and I were the only two in the whole theater to laugh when he said that.
And I wouldn't say Williams recycled his music. That would mean hearing identical themes in two different franchises. That's never done. He's got a style (as all composers do) that allows you to identify him being the same. When I was little, I actually thought the Asteroid Field and the streets of Cairo music were the same. There's some similarities, but he didn't "recycle" The music at all. It's completely new and different. Well, except for KotCS, but that doesn't recycle SW music, just old Indy themes....

In his love themes, he likes to start on major sixths. He loves major triads for his main themes. And OMG the Imperial March sounds like Holst's "Mars" - I loved the Planets until I played them.
Oh, my party laughed at the "I got a bad feeling about this" as well.

Julian Glover was a villian in both franchises.
