How do you invision the death of Indiana Jones? On a death bed while he whispers his last goodbyes or running from some natives in a jungle while being pierced by darts?

Actually never thought that way. Indy dying sounds really sad and morbid but in reality we all can't live forever.

Indeed we can't all live forever. The ultimate truth is that we are all going to die and human beings are likely the only living thing on the planet that KNOWS it's going to die. But that's an entirely different discussion.
Indy dying. Hmmm. Well honestly after seeing KOTCS I would guess that he'd outlive everybody just about. I'm sure he'll outlive Marion, something just tells me that he would. Mutt would likely be the only person left that he knows (and any family Mutt has spawned.. heh, spawned)... and he would die at like a crazy age of 108 years old or something.
Or maybe he'd just live a normal life like anyone and die at a normal age under normal circumstances.
... He can't die on an adventure because the whole point is that SOMEHOW he always gets out. I don't think you're ever supposed to really be able to know how a character like this dies.

Nah, man... didn't you see Last Crusade? Indy and his dad both drank from the grail; they're immortal now. Geez.

It would've been kind of cool if that really happened. haha. Them becoming immortal.

You know, there are still some people who misunderstood the immortality clause in LC. (i.e. you can't cross the seal) People ask about it at IMDB and it's one of those pet peeves of mine. You have to be paying very little attention to the film to miss that part.
re: Indy's death. I hope we never know how he dies. The best heroes don't die, imo. Although I do rather prefer him dying over turning into a bored old man, molesting indifferent youths of modern day with firsthand accounts of history, like in YIJC. That was more sad than funny or interesting, I think.

The real world takes so many things away from us, so I never think about my heroes passing on. They are, even illogically so, immortal to me. :)

...setting up for the Mutt Jones film, the search for Indy.
Indy doesn't die. He'll just go home. Like Elvis.

To quote Henry Jones Sr. - "Let it go."
We don't need to know. We celebrate his life. His death is unimportant.
It reminds me of the long-running beloved, Rurouni Kenshin series where years after the anime series ended they decided to make an OVA (Original Video Animation) out of the blue which included Kenshin dying of consumption after a life filled with hundreds of battles and struggles. Truly gut-wrenching, and even the series creator (who wasn't consulted for this piece of animation) said it was brutal and unnecessary. The last we should see of these beloved characters is their happy endings and leave it at that.
Indy deserves the same.

as much as i love Indy, i sometimes think how his time would come. it seems fitting for him to die on an adventure, its something that could easily happen too. and i know hes meant to escape from that, but like everybody else you do start to slow down and maybe that quickness that he once had wont be there anymore.
its probably for the best that we may never quite know.

In my head Indy never dies. I like to think that one day he barely beats the forces of evil to a MacGuffin that does grant him immortality. Then Indy keeps a low profile, maybe in the jungles away from civilization, keeping the item out of evil's hands for all time....that way he remains forever a hero.

I've suggested before that maybe he dies in a simple motorcycle wreck like his friend T.E. Lawrence. It would be ironic for him to survive all that he does in his life, and then die while out on a peaceful drive in the countryside. :dead:

It'd be pretty cool if old Indy was on his death bed and he sees the light and Henry Jones Sr. comes out...
"Why are you just laying there, Junior? We've got work to do!"
Indy's spirit rises out of his body. He puts on his fedora. They both walk into the light. Cue:
"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Heaven"
I don't think Indiana Jones should outright die / be killed off. I thought a more suitable way was to have his character 'become' a part of the legend at the end of one of his adventures, if that makes sense.
Instead of making a significant archaeological discovery, being reunited with loved ones and riding off into the sunset, Indy would, for any reason, "stay behind" and become part of a legend, hence ending his adventures (with the obvious exception of prequels, spin-offs etc).

I was *about* to post what my parents 'dream' had been: to just take off on motorcycles towards the ocean. I can definitely see adam's scenario.

Like the Grail Knight? I like that idea, but it would be pretty cool for him to sacrifice himself a third of the way through the movie and then come back halfway through...and it's really his twin brother, no no no...uh
Becoming part of the legend is a cool idea, what could it be though...?

I would hope he died with dignity, not pissing in diapers and rolling around in a wheelchair. But knowing most modern doctors they would have kept a "living legend" alive for as long as possible.

I have to say, I agree totally with this. I just think it is probably the most suitable way to go. Perhaps he ends up living in the Garden of Eden???
Well, it's better than the 'space between spaces.'
And Marion can't live without him, so she goes with him.

Indy can't die.
He is an icon and therefore like Batman, James Bond etc can be truly immortal as long as people want to watch the movies or read his adventures. They can have adventures as long as people want to see them and people carry on writing them.
Unless you are talking about how they should kill off the character in a film/book?.....well...he grows old accoring to the tv show.
Porobably he will be waffling on (YIJC style) and peg out just before revealing the end of the biggest most enthralling adeventure he ever had but we never even knew about.
That or find the fountain of youth, rejuvinate himself and live forever annonimously scouring the globe's archeological sites and have infinite more adveneures.
(For the record I figure old Indy got the scar and eye patch from his own whip. hand eye co-ordination not what it was at his age)

It would have to be because he sacrificed himself to save others (Marion, Mutt, etc.).
That's the only way Indy could pass on.

Yeah, that's what I suggested, too. Personally, I wouldn't mind him dying in a story as long as it was this way. Well, saving Marion, at least. I don't really think I would want him dying to save Mutt...

Well he can't peg out in his prime as we have alreadt seen him way past his prime (I don't mean KOTCS!)
So here's a few...
He's a boring old codger in YIJC so he will pop off with a tumor caused by being in the middle of an atomic blast in the 50's. Also explains why no more kids...:p
Delayed radiation poisoning?
Or maybe he's running after a bus as he's missed the last one due to telling some poor disinterested waitress another anecdote.
He magages to hook onto the rear bumper with his cane and hangs on for a few blocks. Then dragging him self up, manages to climb on the side of the bus to the door...(ROTLA style)...he pulls it open strolls up to the shocked driver and then has a heart attack as he realises he left his bus pass on the diner table.
Mutt fleeces him for all the fotrune and glory he made through the years, then buy another bike and puts Indy in a home. Alone and in the retirement home he hangs himslef with his own whip...or one of the nurses puts a pillow over his face to shut him up.
Mauled by CGI monkies?
Picks up the wrong meds in the home...he chose poorly.
Transdimensional beings take him away to a place where he will never age, along with all the old farts from Cocoon.
