Batman is best, though he's not strictly a superhero. Best villains, best environment, best gadgets...Mr. Wayne has it all...

1. Spider-man
2. Batman (though looking at one of my shelves, you'd think it was Batman was #1)
3. Iron Man
4. The Tick
5. Deadpool (though he'd hate to be called a superhero.)
6. Harry Dresden--Harry is a wizard (super) and he saves people through detective work and magic (hero) and quite recently he's got comics.
All of the other comics I read that deal with superheroes are teams:
1. Teen Titans
2. X-Men
3. Fantastic Four

Always liked Marvel the best...real world locations, and for a while didn't really NEED supervilians to write compelling stories. Spidey villans were the best... The King Pin! Green Goblin, Doc Ock...Venom.
Still liked The Justice League, Lex! Although the Legion of Doom didn't seem so inspired.
One of the coolest ideas that they couldn't sustain, but became inspiration for others including The Incredibles was Damage Control.
I think there was some nod in last years Iron Man...:dead:

Ok, so I was obviously kidding with my last post. (though I actually kind of like The Blue Raja). Even though I had read all of The Punisher comics available at one point, my vote was easy. The Maxx.
http://fc43.deviantart.com/fs8/i/2005/353/2/6/the_Maxx_by_echomrg.jpg
http://fc62.deviantart.com/fs11/i/2006/220/1/4/The_Maxx_by_allanced.jpg
I'm sure that I'm not the only here at a place like "The Raven" (especially this thread) with a little bit o' the "Hero Complex". The Maxx is perfect for my version. Misunderstood, but not at all in touch with reality, either. I was able to download all the episodes from MTV's "Oddities" series, and put them in order on dvd's. All of questionable quality, of course. But good enough for me to enjoy. It is truly a dark and beautiful story about messed up people, and how they learn to cope with life's atrocities. For what it's worth, and for the uninitiated, IGN gives a short review here (http://tv.ign.com/top-100-animated-tv-series/16.html), while ranking it #16 on their list of 100 best animated series of all time.

If you say Jack isn't super, obviously you have never seen 24. He's come back to life from the dead at least twice. Story tells that they named a street after him in LA, but soon had to rename it because of increased jaywalking fatality rate on that very street. And why?
Because nobody crosses Jack Bauer and lives to tell the tale.

meh. this is just a cheap way to put it. Supes has a weakness for kyptonite, but it's not like that's the only one. he gets his butt kicked all the time. i mean you pretty much say you don't know much about DC, so i guess you don't have much to say about it. Supes has great internal struggle. Sent by his parents from his exploding homeworld where'd he'd be the most powerful being? kinda would make me feel like an outcast. not to mention he's one of the only hero's who doesn't have a mask. instead wears one (yeah glasses are obv lame) when he's not supes. also who IS the real clark? Superman is an act? or is metropolis clark kent the real one? those are both identities. is his real self is when he's home in smallville?
and what's wrong with having a hero who does stand up for something good and doesn't have dark problems. kinda nice to have at least one of those whos so pure. and talking bout bright colors, Spider-Man and Captain America are bright red and blue too. Wolvie was yellow for a while. batman used to be blue and grey.
Green Lantern weakness against yellow was lame until recently. the green has always been the embodiment of will power. Yellow eventually got shown to be the embodiment fear. hence the biggest GL villain had a yellow ring. so the yellow thing is just something for the GL's to get over (overcoming fear etc). and they're all just normal people who got the ring.
Batman isn't anti-DC. DC is named after the comic he's from! he's one of the most important characters. it's not like Marvel is filled with normal guys. they're all mutants, or drank super serum like captain america. got bit by a radioactive spider. Go hit by radioactive gamma rays(hulk). or got hit by radioactive rays in space(fantastic four).
but anyway. ha, i got carried away. not trying to sound defensive or anything, i love em all

and what's wrong with having a hero who does stand up for something good and doesn't have dark problems. kinda nice to have at least one of those whos so pure. and talking bout bright colors, Spider-Man and Captain America are bright red and blue too.
Go hit by radioactive gamma rays(hulk). or got hit by radioactive rays in space(fantastic four).
but anyway. ha, i got carried away. not trying to sound defensive or anything, i love em all
Sorry, I didn't mean to say I didn't like DC, I'm just more of a Marvel fan. Guess I'm too biased. Most of what I see of DC is through Teen Titans or Batman.
I actually like what I've seen of Green Lantern through Batman comics and cartoons. If I were to pick up another DC title, it would be Green Lantern. (By the way, if you don't think I like Batman, you should compare my Batman toy shelf to my Spider-Man toy shelf!)
Spider-Man isn't that dark, no, but he should be. Spider-Man has had a lot of crap happen to him. He's broke, he watched his girlfriend die in his arms, etc., but he still cracks jokes and so on. And he's worn other costumes. The symibote was all black except for a white spider and white eyes, and after he left the Symbiote, he wore a mock-Symbiote costume from time to time. (See "Back in Black.")

I think that's what's great about Spidey. But yeah he does have his dark parts. and yeah Green Lantern is really the only thing i'd suggest anybody to read at DC right now. everything else is kinda in the middle of changes. but GL is one of the best books out there.

This is about it for me. One character, one film, which I do like a lot. I've always found the idea of Batman interesting. I like the idea of a dark loner, and for me, Keaton defines it. Other than that, not really a fan of the super hero genre, no reason in particular.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned him yet, so allow me! The Man of Bronze!
The giant upon who's shoulders so many stood. Batman, with his utility belt full of advanced gagdgets, Superman with his Fortress of Solitude (some five years later) not to mention CLARK Savage was called the Man of Bronze and CLARK Kent the Man of Steel ;) Even Spock borrowed from Doc who used to paralyze people with that weird neck pinch thing! I offer Doc Savage as the first, the best, the Ultimate Super Hero upon which all others followed behind!
The youngest of you may be asking: Who is Doc Savage? From the back cover of the Bantam reprints - "To the world at large, Doc Savage is a strange mysterious figure of glistening bronze skin and golden eyes. To his amazing co-adventurerers - the five greatest brains ever assembled in one group - he is a man of superhuman strength and protean genius whose life is dedicated to the destruction of evildoers. To his fans, he is the greatest adventure hero of all time, whose fantastic exploits are unequaled for hair-raising thrills, breath taking escapes, and blood curdling excitement!"
Currently, the Vintage Library is reprinting the original pulps - two to a book, complete with the original illustrations!

WOW maybe they will make a movie about this Hero never heard of him but i'm sure he is SWEET like the other hero's.
I hope they will make a GREAT movie about Captain America i do not think they gave Justice to Captain America yet if they do start producing a Captain America i hope it would be like IronMan. Captain America and Superman i think are on the same line Superman is and American icon as well and Captain America, so i hope they consider producing this great character.

People may not believe this but we have the technology to build a real IronMan if they were to do this and have a person fight this war in this suit, we would not lose men and women like are today. Let's truly have a REAL HERO FOR AMERICA!

yeah the movie had its flaws, but i thought it was decent. like remember when he turns into the rider the first night and he gets stabbed in the arm? the caretaker had to give him stitches the next morning, but when he was shot at like 100 times the next night he didnt need as much as a band aid. that was a major flaw, and of course there were more but the special effects were amazing.

Jack Nelligan it's nice to see someone else with the same experience.
As a small child Wonder Woman appealed to me far more than Superman. It was not until recently that I began to appreciate Superman the way I do now. As a child I was always fancinated by Lynda Carter's eyes; they were for the lack of a better word hypnotizing. Plus, back then I was disgusted by the fact that girls never got to hold their own against villains. Men were always saving a woman who was gripped in fear and acting like a helpless infant. Of course I respect and admire daintiness and feminism, natural traits that come along with being a woman but I felt like the program producers were biased or shall I say sexist as Hillary Clinton and Palin might agree (ignoring Rush Limbaugh.)
I, like my father before me also liked the Bionic Woman but now as I'm older, and into more EMO personalities I prefer NBC's M. Ryan Bionic Woman much more. However as I've never really had a realtionship with a real girl after having a freak and REALLY short experience with a very disappointing young woman back when I was 13 going on 14 I found myself moving more toward liking male characters as I got older. It's only now that I've begun to open back up to females thanks to the fact that my mother wants me to be much more cordial to my sister (siblings :dead: ) and the fact that my sister's friend Brianna does not seem as monstrous and evil as Desiree did in the bitter end. Anyway back to Wonder Woman. I wish now that I've done some looking around that they'd gone with the earlier EMO Wonder Woman now, I simply enjoy EMO personalities.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/26/PdPH2CC0001.jpg
Anyway I still find comfort in the harsh yet noble male characters of the comic book world like my mainstay Wolverine. Characters like him seem to be the only thing that helps me to hide my pain and the storm that swirls in my mind unbeknown to those around me. Life is not always sweet and rosy, at lest not for me at times.

That's ture Lonsome. It also goes on to deal with characters that are sometimes a cross between a man and a woman, or male characters that are more like a woman in appearance. I personally found out about EMO culture through my former friend Matthew whom I met at the Community Seventh Day Adventist Church in Leesburg, GA who felt like being part Hispanic and part Filipino mandated that he be EMO plus his spiky hair helped lol.
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p313/dark_riku209/anime%20emo/emo-2.jpg
EMO is very broad in it's meaning. It is true that it has to do with dark and morbid characters like the snake man in Naurto called Arochimaru or something like that or Edward Cullen of the Twilight Saga; however EMO is also fashion.
I suppose one could say that EMO is an neo-gothic type of movement and is usually tied into manga/anime/geek/dork/sci-fi/fantasy lifestyles. In fact things like World of Warcraft, Harry Potter, Dungeons and Dragons, Castlevania, Shaman King, Bleach, Twilight or Death Note Saga are all considered things that one MUST like or enjoy by many young adult groups in order to be a member of the emo underworld.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ef/Deathnotesoundof.jpg
BTW here is what wikipedia has to say on EMO life:
Today emo is commonly tied to both music and fashion as well as the emo subculture.[98] Usually among teens, the term "emo" is stereotyped with wearing skinny jeans, sometimes in bright colors, and tight t-shirts (usually short-sleeved) which often bear the names of emo bands. Studded belts and black wristbands are common accessories in emo fashion. Black Converse sneakers and skate shoes, such as Vans, are popularly worn among people of the emo fashion. Some emo guys also wear thick, black horn-rimmed glasses.[99][100][101]
The emo fashion is also recognized for its hairstyles. Popular looks include long side-swept bangs, sometimes covering one or both eyes. Also popular is hair that is straightened and dyed black. Bright colors, such as blue, pink, red, or bleached blond, are also typical as highlights in emo hairstyles. Short, choppy layers of hair are also common. This fashion has at times been characterized as a fad.[102] The style spread to younger teenagers, the style has become darker, with long bangs and emphasis on the color black replacing sweater vests.
In recent years emo has been associated with a stereotype that includes being emotional, sensitive, shy, introverted, or angst-ridden.[104][105][106] It has also been associated with depression, self-injury, and suicide.[107][108]

Batman....by a country mile.
A human with no super abilities other than the devotion to an oath he swore as a boy.
Think about all the superheroes and supervillains. Their imense and unfathomable powers, strengths, intellects and so forth. Many of whom have brough entire armies, countries, worlds and even galaxies too their knees before their might.
Batman, this mere mortal has walked among those "gods" and when necessary, he has humbled them.
The epitome that with deterimnation, dedication, resourcefulness, preparation, heart, guts and sheer strenth of character, morality and will, a man can achieve anything.
Proof that whether you think you can't, or whether you think you can, you're right.
Batman.

batman is cool. i think that the batman from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight movies is the way batman should be, y'know? like he has a tank instead of a car, hes a vigilante, not a hero, and the villains are dark, not like they are in the cartoons where they're really...colorful. even the more colorful characters (and in this case i mean the Joker from The Dark Knight) are really dark, y'know what i mean??? that is the way batman SHOULD be.

batman is cool. i think that the batman from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight movies is the way batman should be, y'know? like he has a tank instead of a car, hes a vigilante, not a hero, and the villains are dark, not like they are in the cartoons where they're really...colorful. even the more colorful characters (and in this case i mean the Joker from The Dark Knight) are really dark, y'know what i mean??? that is the way batman SHOULD be.
I like Batman and Batgirl as well because i like to see people who have no powers using there brain, love for people and there human strentgh to fight villians.
Lol IndyScout, I know what you mean about does emo's.

I also like Spawn. I was a big fan back in the late 90s.

My favorite superheroes? These .... things.

Not really, though. In seriousness, I wouldn't classify most of my favorite heroes as superheroes (such as Indy, for one good example), though among the conventional lines, I would have to go for Batman, Ironman, Spiderman, Robin, and Wolverine, in that order.
Superman and Batman........America's first, most popular superheroes.
What I love about Batman in particular is the wealth of delicious villains. You have the Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, The Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, The Riddler, Two Face, etc.
And all the other superheroes seem like a rehash of Superman. The alter-ego, special powers, etc. But Superman is the original and the greatest to me.
A slice of pure Americana.
Just too bad they couldn't give Superman the movie he deserves recently....

And it doesn't look like we'll be getting one any time soon :(
With the technology involved in movie making today, imagine Supes fighting Doomsday, Metallo, Darkseid, or Apocalypse. It would be epic!
I hope one day we'll get a truly great Superman film again.
But in the mean time, if you're a comic reader, check out Superman: Secret Origin. It's only 4 issues and 1 issue in. It's great.
