i saw the video of kanye west interrupting taylor swifts award speech --- what is this guys problem? from different things he has done in the past , he shows that he is a bit ignorant, and basically a person who doesnt like that when things dont go his way , he has to lash out . i hope that mtv sees this and bans him from returning to the next few awards shows . i mean jumping up and ruining taylor swifts speech is just intolerable.

The only reason I watched the VMAs was for the Jackson tribute and This Is It Trailer, but after what Kanye did it really angered me. Not only has MTV gone down the tubes, but so has the behavior of so many artists.
I don't know much about Taylor Swift, (my cousin is a fan) but she's pretty, seems to have clean music with a decent message, she doesn't dress like a whore. So she's ok in my book. But it was a dick move by Kanye. I don't know much about him either other than he has a big mouth and an even bigger ego.
So he ruined that whole girls moment, just to find out Beyonce took home the biggest award on the show for her video. What an ass. But Beyonce was total class and gave Taylor her moment. Gave me some hope for this generations music industry.

The man showed he has no class.
Lots of money, lots of ego, but zero respect.
Sadly this kind of attitude reflects on the music and genre he represents which already has a lot of a very dark, disrepectful and unappealing areas in my opinion.
Taylor Swift..I don't really know much about her but nobody deserves this kind of treatment. Beyonce was embarrassed.
His opinion meant jack to anyone but himself and he humliated Beyonce as well as Taylor.
Wosrt of all, people look up to guys like him as a role model and we all wonder why the world is such a bad place sometimes.
The sooner he and his kind of "art" disappear into oblivion the better.

I could give a crap about anyone at the awards show. I just tuned in to see the This Is It trailer and they had a nice MJ tribute
I don't pay much of any attention to MTV, so it was kind of by chance that I happened to tune in a couple times. Watched the whole MJ thing, came back to see what Green Day did, then heard about Kayne's ass-u-me... ption on the news this morning.
'Least no one was KOed by a bass this year... nor were there any 'malfunctions' from Janet.

All that matters is that Matt & Kim won. Period.
And don't try and tell me the whole thing wasn't staged. Taylor Swift coming out in the red dress was the giveaway.
I pine for the days when a lit widow Cobain taunted Madonna. Those were the days.

Did anything else happen at the MTV's?
No one's taking about any other part of the broadcast.

Because it sucked. I only watched it for the MJ tribute (which was brief and at the beginning) and that's it. Nothing else interesting happened. Kanye made the show haha.

And we wouldn't be talking about it or the network at all if not for this stunt which I suspect was completely scripted, or at least enabled backstage. Kanye's behavior at awards presentations was already a running gag (http://www.hulu.com/watch/10349)...
This show has a long history (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTV_Video_Music_Awards) of stunts. Just like that scripted MTV-produced Superbowl nipple sighting. These headlines are about the only good thing going for the music industry right now.

I agree with everything Moedred just posted. We're talking about a cable network that will re-broadcast this show a million times. You need a hook in this day and age to cut through the clutter and get people to linger on the repeat.
As for the dresses, I thought that it for a more visually compelling image when the two hugged at the end (as opposed to one wearing red and the other white). And don't forget Beyonce sounded a bit scripted with her "when I was seventeen" line.
