Well the Holidays are upon us and its time to start getting does dinners ready for Thanksgiving and time to get does Holiday gifts out.

When I was in Target a lady was buying a Wii and controls, games for her children, she said they won't find out until Christmas.

I can't wait for does beautiful ornaments and the Christmas Tree. I want to get my parents something for Christmas before it gets here, last year I couldn't find anything because stores were sold out of things. Any ideas?

Early Happy Holidays folks.

In my case, we've gotten a bit lucky. Though there won't be presents this year... the trip's the present and whatever we buy over there is our presents. It's just the situation the family's in. I didn't think I would be coming back so soon. I am glad though. We haven't had a good New Year's Eve in years and this year we just might. Fingers crossed.

My parents say just being together with family and friends is a present, and having a home to stay in. There are a lot of people here in Atlanta who live on the streets with no home or food.

I'm going to Japan in Dec so that will be my family's present. I don't know what we are doing for Thankgiving, my mom and I might cook dinner for Thanksgiving.

That was for Canada :D

Ah well. I see Holiday stuff decked out in stores earlier and earlier this year.

Wonder how long she's going to be able to keep that Wii a secret. I still remember when I was 5 or 6 years old, I would dig out every single little thing my parents hid for me....:rolleyes:

(And besides, a Wii by itself seems to be quite a large object to hide. Not to mention all of those games- where is she going to hide them? XD)

I think the gift of a Wii is this generations equivalent of coal.

And this is from a former Wii owner.Seriously,It was one of the worst consoles I've ever owned.

I owned one also, and sold it.
There are a few good games for it such as Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros: Brawl and the like, but 96.8 percent is just shovel-ware.
I also hate motion controls. I guess that I am a traditionalist when it comes to video games.

But, like I said the excess amount of crap-software is what put me off from the Wii. I do not like junk like Carnival Games, Wii Fit or even the mighty Wii Sports. Give me Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank, Bioshock and Fallout III any day of the week.

Since there is so much hatred going on for the wii, let me just say that the wii introduced to a wide variety of games on its virtual console. I was never much of a gamer growing up with the exception of Mario, of which I am still a huge fan of. The only reason I purchased a wii in the first place was to play Super Mario Galaxy, and while waiting for the game to be released I discovered the Virtual Console. Seeing that there were a wide variety of games from Nintendo, the Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64 that I had missed growing up, I decided to give them a try. And this was how I discovered Zelda, Castlevania, Megaman, Punch Out, and much more, I couldn't believe I had been missing all these great games all these years, and let me just say that The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is truly one of the best games I had ever played, and I never would have played it had not been for the Wii. It was also this period that I first discovered the point and click adventure game by using scummvm to play Fate Of Atlantis. So if you don't feel that the wii is a great system, that's all right. But personally I think it's a great way to introduce people to all the games they've missed over the years.

But, the sad thing about all of this is that all of the games that you've mentioned were for past consoles and not the Wii.
I think that it shows the lack of games for the Wii when someone spends their time playing games from the NES, SNES, and N64 besides of games for Nintendo's current system.

Agent Crab

Ever since the N64 days... Nintendo has lacked decent thrid party support. The NES and SNES had one of the better era of games. N64, Game Cube and Wii suffer it. Sure, games like Gradius ReBirth, Contra ReBirth and Megaman 9 are great as Wii Ware games, the real wii games.. we need more thrid party games, besides ports of other games that appear on other consoles.

My Wii gets least played out of my consoles.

Well all that I'm saying is that I've never played any of those games before the wii and that the system introduced me to them. Wether or not games for the wii are any better or worse than those from the other systems is unknown to me since I'm not really that much of a gamer. I will admit that every time I take a walk around the video game section in any store, none of the games from any system succeed in grabbing my attention. The last time I bought a game on impulse was when I purchased one called Hotel Dusk on the ds, a fun point and click adventure game, my favorite genre. I'm sure you know more about the subject than I do since it seems that you are very passionate about games, while I'm more inclined to films, but from my personal opinion most games today just aren't very good.

Well my parents find ways to hide gifts from my brother and I, plus people can hide things in the most unlikely places.

I loved the Wii first Console I've had ;) AWESOME games I love the motion control as well. I plan on buying Indiana Jones Staff of Kings for Wii, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Help Wanted, MySims, MySims Racing, and MySims Agent and the list goes on folks :D I got my Wii for Christmas, anyone like Soccer? I have FIFA 09 for Wii.

I'm wishing for Mario Kart Wii for Christmas.

I'm a BIG fan of Nintendo. I like the Wii because you get lots of exercise from playing, unlike other consoles.

I heard about this new console where you need no controls just your body as the control, there trying to keep it under wraps I guess, I don't know the name of the console. I saw it on the news when I was living in Cali.

My kids are limited on their game play whether it be on WII or PS3. If it's nice outside they aren't allowed to play until in the evenin and then for only a couple of hours.
Outside play is better exercise then the WII could ever be and playin outside broadens their imagination more. But that's just my opinion.

You are right about that. But for me, I can't go outside like a normal child or teenager because I live in a RV park no where to play and to top it off if your outside doing something people just stare at you. My parents are looking for a house right now. Thats why I said I would like a early Christmas gift which is a home so I can make friends and play outside and do yardwork, my goal is becoming a Tennis player.

I work in the health and fitness field.Wii fit is a JOKE.For instance,The so called 'Wii fit age'' test is a total load of ****.You simply can not measure someones level of fitness by just rocking your weight back and forth.It also does not take in account muscle mass durning the BMI.So anyone who is muscular will be listed as overweight even though they clearly have a very low body fat percentage.

It's great that the Wii is encouraging people to exercise but fitness is more than just rocking back and forth on a pad, it's about proper lifestyle, proper diet, stretching...Etc..

Damn you're lucky. Disneyland's heaps better than all four theme parks that I live near (the big theme parks are all in my town and I'm about 30 mins from all of them which is handy, but they really suck in comparison to Disneyland and Universal Studios!).

So I suppose you could recommend a decent restaurant at Downtown Disney? And I don't suppose you know if any would be open on Christmas Day or New Year's Eve (I do know Disneyland is open on both, just wanted to make sure)?

Yeah, I remember that one from last time (I just couldn't remember the name. I knew it had something to do with jazz!) I had chicken there (quite nice I might add). I know they have the Rainforest Cafe (didn't eat there) and ESPN's got a restaurant in their building. I ate at Captain Kidd's across the road from Disney, and that was pretty good for an all you can eat place as well as Denny's (not really a fan, it's ok) and MacD's (I thought it was amusing that the McDonald's apple pie is different to here and is in fact cheaper, and also nicer).

Akator? Not exactly. Still, the company that owns the chain spent twice as much on the Anaheim location; so, it's the nicest one of 'em all. You really aren't missing that much if you don't eat there, sort of like Outback Steakhouse.

If you're just looking to eat in or around the DLR, check out

- The Lost Bar for adult beverages and related bar snacks;
- The Storyteller's Cafe (in the Grand Californian) for a seasonal all you can eat buffet and/or menu service;
- Blue Bayou Restaurant (the place you pass on Pirates) for Creole-style food;
- Cafe Orleans has French-like cuisine in a casual environment; go for breakfast and have Mickey-shaped beignets!

http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/5230273/beignets-main_Full.jpg

Blue Bayou is considerably cheaper during lunch service. Also: make reservations as soon as you get in the park, or call Disney Dining once you arrive in the states. You can also request a Waterside table.

No money needed:
Take time out of your busy schedules and volunteer at your local food bank or soup kitchen for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most of us are truly blessed and giving back to those who are les fortunate that ourselves is in the true spirit of the holidays!

God Bless and Peace be with you!
