Is their a problem with the cold war such as the artifact will not be as relevant when all you have to do is drop a bomb on the opposing side of Germany and the world goes to hell, right?

The artifact is almost obsolete. I mean the cold war changed all warfare with anyone with a Atom Bomb!!!

I imagine supernatural is the next step up from nuclear power. In theory, you'd just need something that would tip the stalemate between the US and Russia such as the crystal skull.
