You know the drill, ladies and gentlemen...go to it!

And congratulations for finding it...

<small>Hi, Langdon and Neveu here... guess we were the first ones. (This message was left here by PH & F)</small>

The green bar representing his charisma skill, Indy, while dodging machine gun fire, takes time to hug the ladies.

-------------------------

Every time Steven tells Harrison to hold still while the cameraman shoots a 'behind the scenes' still, Harrison annoyingly poses as if he is about to pounce on the dancers.

------------------------

How does that one go? It's on two movies including Inspector Gadget 1. The bad guy gets an automatic gun out of his sleeve, points it towards the good guy's feet, and tells him to keep quiet and Dance!

-------------------------

Indy ponders: "Does fog settle in layers?"

By the way, how were you able to make your post say it was so long ago?

And, what is Bickersons, Intergamer?

Oh, please don't. I know I had such a fun time finding it, I'm sure everyone else will too.

So much effort went into it. And besides, intergamer has had something like this in his mind for a while.

Okay, here's my caption(s):

In spite of the melee around him, Indy couldn't resist jumping over to the piano to bang out a snappy, toe-tapping rendition of "The Maple Leaf Rag."

To save money at Club Obi Wan, the owner has installed the first-ever automatic hostess (the big blue statue in the corner). It smiles, distributes menus and points the way to the nearest available table.

1. Caption: Indy on his escape from the sniper, decided to pick up a couple of girls to take back to his place.

2. Caption: Indy couldn't stand Willie anymore so to make her jealious he picked up 3 girls. (Hopefully to shut her up ;) )

Sorry forgot one

3. Caption: Suddenly out of nowhere a strike of lightining appears. (Anyone else spot it?)

Actually, it would be OK to move this thread to the Video Game section, and even rename it - it's been bumped anyway. And the links will still work since they only refer to the thread number. I just want people to post captions!

Well, I suppose it comes from the word Bicker, meaning people who argue. If you saw me use it, I was probably referencing the old radio program "The Bickersons" starring Don Ameche and Francis Langford and John and Blanche Bickerson. The premise of the show was that they were a married couple that argued a lot..

Not too many people are posting captions. Hmm.

Indy's heart pounded as he moved through the dance steps. He knew that if he gave a bad performance he would receive a "thumbs down" from the statue and the gunman would not let him the club without several holes poking through him.

--

Indy nervously tried to blend in with the dancing girls, in hopes of hiding from the persuing droolers.

Remember folks, you did not follow a map to this contest. Captions are not an exact science.

Hmph. I guess it's true. When you're a guy the world IS your toilet.

Indy would probably be the only guy in history to write in the snow in a foreign language. Like Latin...

Indy stood in the Himalayas (spelling, I know) surveying the landscape when he realized just how bad he had to go. He unbuckled his cold buckle, undid his fly and began to do his thing. On a whim, he wrote in the snow, deciding to brush up on his Latin.

"Damn it. In Latin, Jehovah starts with an 'I'." I'll eat a pound of snow and correct that in a few hours." Zzzzzzip.

Indy HAD been training furiously for the 1936 Olympics, too bad they were being held in Berlin. Oh well, those long jump skills pay off when you need to clear the occasional grand piano...

Well, good show all.

If you want to know how one was supposed to get here, you simply clicked on a little X which was hidden in the "Last edited by Intergamer..." blurb on the original caption page, then translated greek letters into english, then found some 'invisible' lettering somewhere on that thread after a lion's head, then went to the first caption contest, then came here. But whatever. A number of people solved that. Pale Horse and Finn were the only to completely finish the deal and use the word COLOR in their caption. If you click on the 'X' in the upper corner of the caption its an isolated link. The Code tags were probably a giveaway, and if you were to quote my original post, you would have found it for sure. Unfortunately for Pale Horse, it wasn't enough to vault him into the final rankings, but PH and F can crown themselves caption contest sleuths, or something.

Without further ado,

In 3rd Place,

Brilliant about the Olympics, topical - and made the most sense since in the game, Indy is really trying to jump over the piano!

This would not be complete without honorable mentions: PH, the other person to use the word color in his caption, Indyologist for posting something completely unrelated ("Damn it. In Latin, Jehovah starts with an 'I'. I'll eat a pound of snow and correct that in a few hours.") - we considered giving you the Gold. Finally, Aaron H's second caption, since anything involving drooling somehow merits mention on this board.

I probably could say more, but my fingers are getting tired...

..Kudos to all!

INCIDENTALLY:
I personally feel that the caption contests are getting a little trite - I don't know if I have the authority to say this, but it might be a good time to retire it and try a different but similar game with captions? Or maybe switch to screenshots from the movies instead of from the games? I really think this is warranted, we've done a good 51 of these and it seems a good place to switch it around. Perhaps first we can have a best of - or that might be saved for the Raven Awards like last you. Deadlock, the future is in your hands.

And before I forget, GO USA OLYMPIANS!

For all you caption addicts, I'm posting a poll at the Off Topic table (http://raven.theraider.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6791/) to determine the fate of the caption contest for the future. I plan on leaving the polls open until Sunday, August 29th. So cast your vote and speak your piece. (And if you don't have a piece, go get one RIGHT NOW.) :)

Stop reading this. Go back to post 1.

After nearly 5 years I figured it out! (A hint: apparently there was a time at the Raven when you had unlimited time to edit your own posts.) Pale Horse's review (http://raven.theraider.net/showpost.php?p=183842):
The best thread digger of all. Many sites have captions, this one was the best and most involved thread of all. It operates on so many levels, it was the smarter more academic caption thread. The stuff of true adventurers.
