View Full Version : FREE Indy Game!!

Okay, don't get too excited...
I made a simple, 2D Indy action game. I only tested it on my computer, so I'm not even sure how compatible it is with other people's systems. Out of consideration to those people with dial-up modems (myself included), I tried to keep the graphics/animation and sound files to a minimum. So don't expect anything too impressive!
The plot is minimal, to say the least. Just walk around, collect the relics, and avoid anything dangerous. That's pretty much it... the full instructions are on the site itself, so read through them.
You'll need to have your sound card set up properly for MIDI playback if you want to hear the background music (composed by yours truly.)
So take a look, let me know if it works on your PC, and as I said, don't expect too much!

My thoughts exactly...
I do like the music though... ;)

Yes, the relic in the middle is near impossible.
Pretty short. Dang hard. But I still got through it. One thing I liked was the Nazi death effect... :D "Nein!"

Thanks for trying it out!
I didn't realize how tough it was. I spent so much time testing it that it became very easy to me (except for the damn spiders on level 3... they still piss me off!) I actually ended up making the spikes move faster because I thought people would complain that there wasn't enough challenge... oops.
Maybe I'll post a "Beginners" version with slower spikes.

Thanks! (I was thinking "Lemmings-style" music, but whatever....) Anyway, my brother also just informed me that it's too difficult, so I will post an easier version tonight. It may be too easy then, but at least it will be more fun (and then you'll all be able to see the thrilling Nazi crushing levels! woohoo!)

is the easier version up yet? That first level really pisses me off now.

Not yet. Sorry to hear it's pissing you off. I tried posting the easier version last night, but couldn't get online for whatever reason. The only thing I changed for the easy version is that the horizontal spikes move slower. I don't think the vertical spikes could be giving anyone trouble... or are they? Honestly, it's hard for me to judge because the whole thing seems relatively easy to me after playing it countless times as I was making it.
Let me know if I should slow down all the spikes. Thanks.

THE NEW, EASIER VERSION IS NOW AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!
The spikes are a little easier, and you have the option of skipping any level. See site for details:

Thanks for your feedback, everyone... I hope this new version is more enjoyable.

I play the game with the harder difficulty because it's more addicting that way, but is there a save feature?

Hmmm... there isn't, but maybe I should add one this weekend (after all, I complained enough about ET not having one, so the least I could do is put one in my own game! lol). It shouldn't be too hard to add, so I'll see what I can do this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thta was a good game and it took me ages to complete on the easy one. I will be looking forward to your next Indiana Jones adventure. Did you use Game Maker 5 to make it?

Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, Game Maker 5... this was my first project with it. My next Indy game will probably be done with Dark Basic, though.
By the way, on the HARD VERSION, you can quick save by pressing F5 (F6 to quickload.) I accidentally disabled this option in the easy version, but since you can skip levels in the easy one, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Wow! Great job! That game is so incredibly addicting. My only complaint would be the elevator music that plays in the background. I feel like I'm still waiting to get off.... ;) Anyway, this is Indiana Jones! You should get some exciting music to play! Great job again!

Thanks!
The music was meant to be light-hearted (kind of a throwback to games like "Lemmings" and "Mr. Do," etc.) I actually used more exciting music at first, but then I looked at how goofy Indy and the Nazis looked, and it just didn't fit. So, I wrote that dopey version of the Indy theme and recorded myself saying "Ow!" and "Nein!" and just made the whole thing even goofier.
Those effects are the best part there's on the game. :D
...and couldn't you have done it a little harder? When I got through it, it was 2 am and I was tired as hell and I had been playing it for 45 minutes! WE WANT AN EXPANSION PACK!
And who said "show-off" there in the back row?

An expansion pack... hmmm... okay, maybe I'll work on that! And maybe a new song to go with it. I'm a little swamped with things right now (just bought a condo), but I'll try. By the way, Finn, good job!

I've downloaded the 'lite' version. The 'hard' version isn't linking up for some reason.
Also, someone asked what you're using to make the game. I don't see an answer to that. Thanks!
