Is it true that Selleck said that ROTLA script was ridicolous?

We all know that he wasn't casted because of his Magnum P.I. commitments, but I've read some time ago (I don't remember where) that when Tom Selleck read the script, he said it was "ridicolous"...is this true?

I've never heard that anywhere. (That doesn't mean it never happened I realize.) I've always heard that Selleck was very dissapointed that he couldn't do the role.

I can't see him in the role anyway. Anyone see Runaway? I like Selleck, but Gene Simmons floated him in that movie, and even then it wasn't exactly a keeper.
