I say this...everyone claims to be huge Indiana Jones fans and from what i have been reading so far.....some of you are true fans. But since i have deicated my life to these 3 movies and i know pretty close to everything about the movie from the opening sequence in Raiders, to the Fearless 4 in LC who ride into the sunset. I say we start a Trivia Thread. Try to stump people with questions ranging from What is Indianas dogs name, to impossibly geeks questions like how many windows are in Henry Jones Sr. house....there are 9 visible windows.
I also suggest that we use the honor system, if you know an answer great! if you dont, dont go looking at the movies or online to sound like you know what your talking about.
So if your "up to the challenge" i will start with a question that hopfully sets the tone for a good trivia thread.
"In Temple of Doom, Shorty wears a Ny Yankees hat. Who else wheres a NY Yankee hat in one of the movies".

Trivia game. Good idea! ;) But I have no idea what the answer is. I'll think on it, and post if I know, later.
intergamer
10-24-2003, 08:28 PM
lol, noone knows. We have to be able to look things up, its still hard. And someone who really knows will still get the answer fastest and will win, so it works out. Plus, people will get answers, and we can learn something.
Agreed?
because a trivia thread could be a lot of fun. Also, easier questions are OK. We aren't all Indy supergeniouses. A good mix is great.

To answer Atilla, 2 planes, and neither of them did he fly well (not to mention his bad landings). He did fly in 4 other planes, that he did not pilot, however.
In what movie is the following line said:
"Maybe its all the chocolate I've been eating."
And yes this is a real line in one of the films, bonus for who says where the line is said.

Listen this is the break down.....i dont know if you mean how many planes he flew or how many planes he was in. But since i have some extraordinary Indy knowledge i will answer both. Indy flew a play breifly in TOD..and Flew a dog fight in LC But all included he was in 6 planes total in the trilogy.
ROTLA...he was in a plane with Jock---Then Cali to Nepal---then Nepal to Cairo.
TOD Indy flew briefly a plane belonging to Lao Che
LC- he was in a plane that took him from Barnnet College to Venice Italy. He flew the auxilary (spelled) plane at the botton of the Nazi Zepplian.
Indy homself only flew 2 planes, one in TOD and the other in LC. BUt he was in 6 total planes in the Trilogy.
How about how many people did Indy explicitly (i.e. not in explosions) kill in the trilogy?

A five-syllabled mantra of Siva is the Gross Pranava. The name Siva is used in the dative case with Namah prefixed. (Namah Sivaya – Homage to Siva). It implies the five principles. The Japa of the five-syllabled manta shall always be performed along with Pranava i.e. OM NAMAH SIVAYA. A man can achieve everything by means of the Japa of the five-syllabled mantra: or more simply put "Adoration to Siva"
The Dance of Siva represents the movement inherent in matter, when Siva stops dancing, the illusion of matter is destroyed.

Didnt he think it had been deserted since the 1850's?
or was it 1885?
I may be pulling that 1885 date from the Back to the Future 3 portion of my brain. Dang and i knew that Jacque Yankees cap question!
Here's my question-
Name the three famous people who "cameo" in the scene in TOD of Indy, Willie, and Shorty getting on the plane in Shanghai. One is easy because they speak, the other two are waving in the background.
Marcus Petrius
10-28-2003, 02:49 PM
It was deserted since the mutiny of ...
1857 that was. I don't know where I picked that up, maybe in the script or subconsciously from the movie. Or from reading about Indian history.

NEW QUESTION -
Name the line (or lines) in each Indy film (yes all three!) that makes reference to Indy's mother. (kinda tricky)
TheOldBum
10-29-2003, 10:29 AM
"I never understood it, and neither did mom."

How many times did Indys hat come off in the movies? i mean from start to finish in each movie, how many times?
Rave&wood
10-29-2003, 11:39 AM
Can you be just a wee more specific, i.e., do you mean every single time the hat is just not on his head, or every time it "falls" off?
TheOldBum
10-29-2003, 12:53 PM
D'oh! I thought you said name the three indy quotes, not quotes from each of the three movies. I dunno. I haven't seen ToD in years, so I'm not up to snuff on my quotations. In Raiders, doesn't he say "Marcus, you're beginning to sound like my mother!" or some such thing? Anyway, great question.

Ok Old Bum, you got the Raiders one (close enough).

IJstuntman23
10-29-2003, 04:38 PM
I think i got the TOD line...
ITs in the Bar scene when Indy gets introduced to Willie...
willie says
-"I always thought that archaeologists were funny little men always chasing after their mommies"
Indy replies
-"Mummies"
question for ya'll
what is one the chalkboard before Indy flips it over to draw the description of the staff of RA???

And just in case Im right, my next question-
In Last Crusade,
Name the person who performed in STAR WARS, and Harry Potter, in addition to this Indy movie.
Bonus- Name the three actors who are in Last Crusade who are also in Empire Strikes back.
Follow up Double Bonus- Name two other people, not yet mentioned in this multi part question, who are in Last Crusade, and are also in other franchises (movies with multiple sequels) besides Indy.

Stunty youre mostly right.
In Last Crusade,
Name the person who performed in STAR WARS, and Harry Potter, in addition to this Indy movie.
The answer is indeed Julian Glover. In addition to playing Donovan in Last Crusade, he famously portrayed General Veers in Empire, and (not so famously) was the voice of Aragog the Giant Spider in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Bonus- Name the three actors who are in Last Crusade who are also in Empire Strikes back.
Well first of all, Julian Glover as Veers . Obviously Harrison as Han Solo, and finally Michael Sheard who played Adolf Hitler in Last Crusade, played Admiral Ozzel (as clumsy as he is stupid) in Empire. Funny thing is, not only did he play Hitler in like four other films, he also played the U-boat captain in Raiders.
Follow up Double Bonus- Name two other people, not yet mentioned in this multi part question, who are in Last Crusade, and are also in other franchises (movies with multiple sequels) besides Indy. John Rhys Davies , Sallah, also played Gimli in the Lord of the Rings franchise, and Sean Connery played ..duh.. James Bond in the James Bond franchise. I guess you could say (because of the way i worded the question), that he was also in the "Jack Ryan" franchise, as Marco Ramius in Hunt for Red October.
Final Bonus-Name the actor that played a Bad guy in Last Crusade that wasnt an answer to any of these, that appeared in another film that won Best Picture.
The guy that played nazi Vogel (Michael Byrne), also played Smythe in Braveheart, the gross old guy that tried to defile Mel's wife and led to the beginning of the end for the English. Oddly enough, he also was in the Jack Ryan franchise, in Sum of All Fears, though neither he nor Connery were around when Harrison was Ryan, they both played with different Ryans, Connery with Alec Baldwin, Byrne with Ben Affleck. man we were cheated out of some cool harrison movies!

I guess I'm geekier than all of you - at least as far as this scene is concerned. This scene actually has no less than five cameos: Spielberg, Lucas, Anthony Powell and Sid Ganis appear as missionaries waitng for a plane, while Akroyd played Weber.
Additionally (cameo number six), producer Frank Marshall can be seen playing a coolie pulling a rickshaw.

he takes/changes clothes (other than his):
-3 times in ROTLA
1-he wears the White turbane and white rob in the map room scene.
2- takes clothes from the one german he grabs and then punches out on the ground.
3-then another German comes and questions Indy about his appearence and Indy get that guy hats but kneeing him in the stomach and then again in the face.
-1 time in TOD
1-the only time he wears something that is not his is the red piece of string he wears as a sash across his chest when he is under the black sleep of the Kali Ma.
-3 times in LC
1-when Indy puts on Elsas hat and cloak and pretends to be Barren Buvwald of Scotland.
2-when Indy beats up the German to get his clothes to go get Henerys diary from Elsa in Berlin.
3-When he puts on the Ticket collectors uniform in the Zepplein.
Sp the total number of times he changes into clothes that are NOT his or when he beats people up for clothes that he then puts on is 7 times throughout the trilogy.
