Most movies and stunt shows use about the same length as Indy's whip, which was already said. Because it seems to be easier for the actor to work with when proforming a show or doing a movie. I am plaing on getting one, and hopefully i won't be going to the hospital with cuts, haha!

They used all different sizes, but the one he uses/caries the most is 10 feet.

I have heard and read in numerous places; On his belt was 10'. For cracking sequences they used an 8' and clever camera-work to make it look longer, and wrapping/swinging whips anywhere from 10' to something like 15 or 20' (the ToD swing-over, I think).
So, basically, anything from 8 to 20 feet is screen accurate.

and to be screen accurate we have to go out and buy all different sizes , huh? well in my household we have a 6ft ( for jr) a 8ft and a 10ft and 12ft bullwhips , so i think we have quite enough :D :whip:

If you're looking at buying one mainly for display, the 10 foot will look cooler because it has the extra loop. The 8 foot is easier to handle if you want to do a lot of cracking. But, then, of course, once you master the 8 you'll want the 10.
As others posted about the film versions, 8 usually for cracking, and 10 for hanging at Indy's side.
