O.K, I have been thinking and wondering if Indy had to die how would you want him to go. It's not like I want Indy to die but it's just something to think about.

Indy should not die, he should just vanish off into the mists of legend never to be heard from again when he realises that the world is no longer his world.

Yeah, what bob said.

Funny, heeding bob's advise would actually leave us with the subject of this thread...Indy's End. I'm sure the droolers wouldn't be disappointed.

That reminds me of the Brad Pitt character in 'Legends of the Fall.'

Even though IJ is grounded in an earlier time, he is still a modern guy, vested in the here and now. Accordingly, I'd rather see IJ either (1) go down swinging (like in 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' (Novel)) -- say, defending a site or dig, or (2) pass away quietly of old age in his sleep, having been productive up until the end as a curator and/or teacher.

I'm still partial to the "Shane-esque" ending where Indy is slumped over a horse (or some similar visual exercise) where folks like us can debate the merits of whether he is dead or not for years to come.

Still, I'd like to see Indy die in his sleep after all his harrowing adventures, finally able to rest. I'd like to have him die like Rose died as an old woman in "Titanic." Let him dream of him when he was younger, trekking into the jungle, riding on horseback, receiving some award, or finding some artifact he's always dreamed of. Like the ark perhaps?

i guess, (sniff) if indy had to die, he would die on the job.fighting for what he believes in, perhapse in one last heroic blaze, wipeing out most of the nazi army. including hitler.

I don't think I'd have him officially die...I couldn't bear to kill Indy off properly. I'd probably just have him mysteriously vanish and then make it so he'd just been lost in the jungle or somewhere else for years.

I see Indy as something of an immortal, since he always managed to escape everything in the movies.

Indy is 93 in 1992, he's not going to die from anything other than old age.
