If you're like many of us, you're heartily sick of fighting the demon-posessed terracotta statues, most notably the ones in the level called "The Pillars of the Underworld" (the first level in The Netherworld). If you are, here's some tips for creaming these guys.

The first point you must realize is that while this may not be obvious at first, the terracotta statues CAN be destroyed even before they are posessed. Thus, if you hack them apart with your Pa Cheng early enough, "exorcism" won't be necessary. ;) Unfortunately, that's not an option %99 percent of the time, so read on for the real purpose of this thread.

If you've been following my thread about hacking IJET (located at http://www.theraider.net/theraven//showthread.php?threadid=5659), you would by now have heard of the "all weapons" cheat. If you enable this cheat, you can use your machine guns (either the MP-40 or the Thompson SMG) to destroy the statues from further back (before they are posessed).

Now, for the main reason for this thread: "The Pillars of the Underworld". The technique is simple: equip your Panzerschreck (rocket launcher), and hold C to enter first person mode. From the safety of the platform you are currently on, aim carefully and blow the sh*t out of every teracotta statue you can see on the other platforms. Like this, when you have to fight the blue demon after jumping to the next platform(s), at least the red demons he releases won't posess the terracotta statues and make a major nuisance of themselves.

If you want some challenge, restrict yourself to blowing up only half the statues, and fighting the rest of them the old fashioned way. Or only blow up one out of three, or even one out of 4 - the choice is yours. ;)

Enjoy!

That's pretty good Mp3.

:)

Another way I read of is to have them line themselves up in a row, facing the edge towards you, and at the last second do a guard-mode drop off the edge: they'll run right off the cliff. :)

Good old Yolegoman. I knew I could count on you - I had a funny feeling you would be the first to reply. ;)

Speaking of guard mode (a.k.a. block), what's that ball of energy that surrounds Indy for a second when you press shift while the Pa Cheng is equipped? It's obviously some sort of shield, but is it good for anything, or is it just decorational?

You can use the shield that the pa cheng generates to bounce the energy balls that the ghostly skeleton fires at you. Saves you throwing your pa cheng away and waiting for it to come back. Otherwise pretty useless.

Well, that's actually pretty useful! The energy balls that the blue demons shoot have been frustrating me very much, as there seemed to be no reliable way to block them... thanks for the tip!
