Hello, Kate. As 00Kevin (One of the very frequent posters on this board) would say:
"Welcome to the Raven, where paths cross." (C)00Kevin
Hope you have as good of a time here as I've had.

Yeah, I've been "lurking" around here for awhile, without joining. I feel like I know everyone already!

But seriously, I'm always willing to help you folks, and I can probably say the same for Canyon, 00Kevin, and some other folks that I'm not sure enough I can say that about...but it's a nice place, so stay awhile.

Like morning dew on tulip leaves,
she floats amoung, a semibreve;
anticipation,
Gone.
Bereave.
Rarely do I wax poetic, but alas, I am smitten. Welcome to the Raven. Ware paths Kaross. spelling intentional
I'm sure your aware of your monikers history. If not, I will expound:
Aikaterina Kate is a diminutive of this Greek woman was the daughter of a rich and noble prince of Alexandria. She was very beautiful, and being at the same time highly talented, she devoted herself to Greek literature as well as to the study of the languages of all nations, and so she became wise and learned. And it happened that the Greeks held a festival in honor of their idols; and seeing the slaughter of animals, she was so greatly moved that she went to the King Maximinus and expostulated with him in these words: 'Why hast thou left the living God to worship lifeless idols?' But the Emperor caused her to be thrown into prison, and to be punished severely. He then ordered fifty orators to be brought, and bade them to reason with Aikaterina, and confute her, threatening to burn them all if they should fail to overpower her. The orators, however, when they saw themselves vanquished, received baptism, and were burnt forthwith, while she was beheaded. THat is why your name forever means "pure"
I hope that you do not meet the same fortune here. With the warm response you received tonight, from many members I respect, I doubt it will come to fruition.

Hi
Good morning everyone-
Thankyou for the poem, apalehorse. 'twas lovely. And Kate is indeed my real name, not a screen name. I couldn't think of anything both inventive and indyish. I wanted to be Miss Ravenwood, but it was taken. Ah well.

Welcome to The Raven, Where Threads Grow Like The Pueraria Lobata (©2004 MP3)
Ya know, the first name of the actress who plays Willie Scott is also Kate - as in Kate Capshaw. That's why I nicknamed you "Ms. Capshaw, or Cappie for short" in the other thread.

If religion and debate is your thing, check out these. Be wise, though. With the many passions that frequent this place topics in these threads must be handled delicately. Don't let others passions provoke yours. But I'm sure you knew that already.

Hi Kate. Welcome to The Raven!
Yay, another female Indy fan, and someone else who writes Indy fan fiction! :D
Are your stories online cos I would love to read them! :D
no, they're not. to tell the truth I've written only one, but it was a full length screenplay so...

the plot is really stupid. or at least, to an expert fanfic writer like you, it would seem dumb.

Me an expert? Hardly. I'm just someone who loves the character of Indiana Jones, but thank you for the compliment.
BTW, I would very much like to read it.
thankyou canyon! maybe you shall read it one day.

Let Canyon read it. "Trust me" ;)
so palehorse, you're a writer? me too, kind of. well, I write plays for a children's theatre, if that counts.
Pale Horse
02-09-2004, 04:35 PM
That is one of the best ways to be a writer. You are giving to children. Kudos.
thanks! what do you write?
Pale Horse
02-09-2004, 04:40 PM
Primarily:
Screenplays & Publish Poetry
But I am also involved in:
Grants, Term Papers ;) , Editorials and the like. My money comes as a policy writer.
wow! i just replied to your thread in indy 4. I want to be a screenwriter. i am going to major in dramatic writing in college. what types of screenplays do you write?
Pale Horse
02-09-2004, 04:46 PM
Oddly enough, thrillers. Feel free to brows around in the film classics forum. You'll see some of my light heartedness, I'm sure.
have any of them been made, actually?
i know it's really hard to sell a screenplay.
Pale Horse
02-09-2004, 04:55 PM
I wish. Closest I have come is interest from Art Montrastelli expressing interest in a script he said "...[he] could take to Universal right now and sell it for a million dollars, cut you in for 10%..." That was this past November.
wow!!!
it sure takes guts to go into that business- guts I don't think I have.
At least I'm not a screamer.
;)
Pale Horse
02-09-2004, 05:00 PM
Not guts, confidence. You get told "no" in so many creative ways.
that's what I've heard.
Have you written any plays?
Pale Horse
02-09-2004, 05:11 PM
No, they are much different. While screenplay writing is technical, plays involve much more complicated dialogue structure because everything else you have to work with (on stage) is so limited. Things like setting and place have to be spoken about, more than pictured. Not my cup of tea, really.
I forgot to mention short stories, too. I like narrative writing.
as do i! have you had anything published?
Strider
02-09-2004, 05:21 PM
i once wrote a play, it was a suspence thriller called The 3rd Room. I don't know what happened to it though.

Absolute
I hold a spoon, which isn’t there,
And it’s reflecting me;
But when the spoon begins to bend,
I slowly start to see:
That I am just an empty hole,
Within a lump of clay;
A needle’s eye, where camels walk;
The open-gated way.
I am a drop of water in
An ocean made from sand,
The riddle of the answer for
The single clapping hand.
Or maybe I am beauty pure,
In poems penned by Keats;
Perhaps the jealous lover, chaste;
That Plato must compete.
But who am I to see such truths
Their trouble, lies within;
Alas, the glass is empty now
That I was looking in.

At this point it's all water under the bridge.
