Hello everyone here.
I want to be polite and introduce myself. My name is Pedro Rosas and I live in Mexico city.
I am 32 y/o. and happily married. my wife is pregnant and we'll soon become first time parents of a child.
I collect action figures and I have now focus on Indiana Jones items. I have been customizing a 12" (1/6 scaled) Indiana Jones figure and I would like to share it with you but it is not finished yet. I have always wanted to get a nice figure but Toys Mcoys' indy is not even in my dreams.
anyway... I wanted to say hello to all of you guys.

Thank you much for your welcome.
I never heard before of a person to be illegally in Mexico. I strongly believe you dont need any permission to get in Mexico.
and now... i want to post the photo but I can figure out how.
i will soon post it.thanks

But, you do need permission to live there, trust me, I have tried (<small>legally</small>) but that's a longer, different story.

At any rate: "Welcome, we have been expecting you :D"

Hi Piedrito, I do not know much about forums and such and seem to be controversial figure where ever I post a message at. I am kinda new to the Indy craze and am just an old time hat maker. I am not sure I can ever be of any assistance to you but if so , Please holler. I resolved to not post any more post any where due to misunderstandings and some folks simply not liking that I tell truth and type and spell poorly for most part. I hope you find the forum(s) as gradifying as I have on many occassions and never find the grief I have encountered on some. I sure hope your wife and your self the most favorable child and in all good health. Nothing more precious thatn a new life. My wife is considering such a thing her self as she is young and I am not sure of it all due to age and lifes experiences so far. I often consier adoption as compared to bringing anoter life to the world . I guess I do not know the answer here but some one to get my hat collection would be a nice benefit of it all. :)) Congratlations once again.

Welcome to the Raven, gladhatter! You're one of the most intersting new members I've seen in a while. Hat vendor, eh? That's awesome! I know you'll have a great time here- everyone is really friendly, but beware of Finn- JUST KIDDING PAL!

Hi,Kate and thank you for your warm reply. We are hat vendors of a sort but a unique sort. What we are more of is customer care specialist that just happen to also make Truly custom hand made hats just like they did a 100 years ago. We do comercialized hats as well but our passion and pride is in quality and workmanship and more yet in customer care and filling the needs of hard to please people. Maybe badly worded as we fill unique needs that others cannot or will not. We are not on here to drum up buisness to be honest , but to relax and make friends we hope and take 5 minutes out now and then.

I am a terrible typist but I offer tons of free support to any one needing an answer or a help .

Please Kate and all if we can ever help you in any way related to your Indy hat questions we remain available for free advise. Our emil is gladhatter@gladhatter.net I am available usually 16+ hours a day 7 days a week. yes nice life I know. But hats are my life .

Thanks again

I thoroughly enjoy hats, though, to Ren's dismay, have no "Indy Gear," which he seems to have an unhealthy obsession with. I have hats of every kind- from berets to pink fedoras. My dad has an Indy like hat and I have tried it on and it does NOT look good on me. Though lots of the guys here look smashing in Indyhats, I do not see why a girl would want to look like Indy.

I cannot agree more but then i have seen th gal onCOW and she is attractive in an Indy hat. I an not an official Indy fan as such but a hat fan for sure.

What is COW?

It's fab that you are a hat fan- how deliciously random! :)

COW is Rens fav spot on th web. Its Club OBI Wan I guess. Home I am allowed to post their link here it is some great guys over there but many that hate me for telling them some hard truths.

http://www.indygear.com/forum/ ..
They seem to all be Indy fans as well. I would like to be clear that I do not think any of them including Ren is a bad guy but many of them sure have misunderstood my good intent. Just this day after a 6 month journey of a hat making adventure , Seveal of them just contacted me to order hats . I guess it was I had told them that time would tell. :)) You may enjoy the long winded story but as you do not know the backend off it may lose some flavor : http://pub63.ezboard.com/faustinscafeamericainfrm9.showMessage?topicID=94.topic

That was fascinating, gladhatter, and wonderfully random and informative as well. Now I can say I know more about what goes into hat-making than most folks I know. BTW I visited your website and it kicks a**. Nice work, love! Will you make me a hat for free?

I have visited Club Obi Wan and I find it wierd; I didn't know Ren was a member but then again of course he is- he's a little obsessed, shall we say, with Indy Gear.

BTW Kate, GH isn't a new member. He has been here for over three months, and you haven't been around for even a month yet.

Whoops- my bad, VP. I just thought that by the # of posts he had that he was newer than me. Guess not! Sorry, Gladhatter!

Kate please do not be sorry. While i have found very nice people on this forum, I am not a forum peson and do not usually know one forum from another. I am not sure if this forum is one of the ones that Ren has continued to viciously attack me on or not. I understand he has quite a support base of friends and if any of them are her they probably will not like me very much and you may hear some hostilities toward me as many seem to think I have been rude to Ren. truth is I have no hard feelings toward Ren or any one else but I am quite sure Ren and his friends may not fell same toward me.

In end to be clear to all that read, I remain sorry for any and all controversy that has occured over my promise to create and make the perfect IJ hat . I fufilled my promise and I delived the hat on the timly basis of it owers request and I remain to date with 100% of my customers 100% satisfied. I still remain available to help any and all with free support that may email me privatly and ask for it.

I remain aslo with stron moral and business convictions and remain also willing to defend my person when attacked and remain still unwilling to alter my very fair and very suscessful business practices to meet the whims of any group on any forum that requires I need to give them answers about any other customer on a public forum.

With that said . I hope peace and harmony only and I hope to make and keep a million friends.

Wow hatter I read your post on that other forum. Its crazy how much you know about making hats! I was wondering one thing though, how many custom hats do you make a year?

gladhatter
02-28-2004, 02:25 PM
Hello and thanks for inquiring. I do not know how to answer about how many a year. I cna tell you weekly averages but it varies. We often make as few as 90 per week. We have had to turn out 240 in a week . its not easy to do this many in a week. But these were for a movie and were not complex simple Lewis and Clark hats. For a good example of a average week we pulled and put 90 hats 2x this past week ath was 180 hats . We also do a lot of refurbs but we donot like to do them as they are not profitale for us and cost to much for many customers. We just released the "Pefect IJ hat " and are bombarded with orders for it now. Also a gentleman in Nw yourk just Bought 15 sterling beaver hats for his collection and he will need lot of attention . So no easy answers . We do as many as we can and still provide the intimate level of care that is necessary to please every customer. Then I also help oters hatters find supplies and hard millinery supplies and equipment . I also just took over management of the worlds largest hat company (American division) and it it just a lot of responsibilities . We have hard to keep scedule but get it all done..

hope this helps..

One more question hatter, if you will permit me. Did you have to go to college or a speacial school to learn the arts of hat making or were the skills passed down by your family?

gladhatter
02-28-2004, 02:53 PM
Hey caliber education comes in many forms . I am a fairly uneducated old Hillbilly. I ahve not taken any formal training in making hats as you may think of. My family was not hatters but wore hats. I ahve been into hats since age 14 . That is long time. I certainly do not mean to sound rude nor short with you . I do how ever want to be honest. While I have dealt with hats a life time io rarly block any hats any more. I am in the administrative end of it all. My duties are to work with my customers and amke sure ever detail is met . we sell a lot of hats but se sell a lot more customer care. most hatters have a very dry speel starting now but each year it is our best time when all othrs are closing nd cleaning ect. we use this tiome to make hats for th masses that want to order and wait. we do not have slow season for most part.
