Normal, Ill.? I lived there for two years during the mid-90s.
Please ask these kinds of questions in the PMs.

PM = Private Message. Its the Raven's version of email, except its between Raven members only. This type of question is better suited in a private message rather than in public.

Guess I am as confused as Aussie Jones. Why is a discussion about wher you live discouraged? Or am I missing something? or is it the Normal Ill being HQ for Hightimes Mag the problem?
Further I remain confused why when a Mod gives advise to take something to a Pm Why do they not also advise on the reasoning of it. No complaints but much curiosity. Forums almost seem like political and legal administrations where decisions are made in private and vague releases are all that goes bublic. I keep wondering if people in general are not mature enough to just know truth . Would kaos break out if every one knew all the intiomate details of the interworkings? Or is it MODS have some extra ability that is not to be discussed with normal people. I already realize that is some what unfair as I could not be a MOD as I understand the parking lot meetings of the "underlings" but I guess I get just as confused by the necessity of the back door meetings of the Mods. That too is ok I do not have to understand every thing.
Gladhatter, the reason why mods keep it short and simple (and sometimes even blunt) is actually in the board mechanics, not in the policies. The length of a PM is limited to one thousand characters... you don't much write novels when the case is like this, do you? ;)

Actually I prefer short stories when limited to 1000 chars but Ifind your answer not applicable to the question . but like I say its not neded eoither soice I do not need to know all things.
Whoops, misunderstood your question, Gladhatter, sorry (yeah, English still not being my mother tongue)... thought you mean why mods rarely give you any insight on the calls they notify you via PM.
The reason for suggesting a PM can be simply because your inquiry is pointed to one person only and no other viewers of your thread can do much to say anything to it, and your question can also sometimes be (not in this case though) the kind where the one who has the answer may not want to spread it out to all the board (and Internet).
And when I say 1000 characters, I mean one thousand letters, numbers and such in all. Not 1000 words. You prefer some really short stories, my friend.

Thanks Finn, I was just sittng pondering this same issue. I suppose many do not care to share such things as pesonal address. I guess I live in such an area as I can be spoiled and give my address to all. We still welcome strangers at our home as they did in old days. It is much a tradition here. I think its a shame that it cannot be so in all areas.

What I'm saying is that Tessa may not want the fact of where she lives discussed openly. That is why we try to keep all messages of a more personal nature confined to PMs.
Didn't I just explain that?

Yes you did, but I wanted to answer it in a slightly different way, so as to avoid any confusion.
