Has anyone here read any of the Find Your Fate books? It took me a while to find them all, but now I've got the complete set.
Some of them are pretty cheesy, and some are pretty good, in my opinion.

When I was in elementry school my 4th grade teacher had a bunch. I errr... sorta "borrowed" one for a while and forgot to return it. Now about six years later I still have it. They are pretty entertaining.

I have all but one of the Find your fate books. The very last one.
#17 IJ and the Mask of the Elephants.
I heard it is very rare. If you have it I would hold on to it.

There's a lot to like in these books, but there's also a lot of dumb stuff too.
A while back I embarked on a project to rewrite the "Find Your Fate" books, trying to make each one into a single, cohesive story. I took the best parts from all the story branches and tried to put them together. I've got three done so far and you can read them here: http://home.earthlink.net/~pandersonfam/
I've started on a couple of other ones. They're a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. Some are easier than others, and some turn out better than others.

Don't know if this was metioned or worth mentioning but indianajones.com has a new update talking about the R.L. Stine Indy books. Go check it out.
Does anybody own any of these books? I own one...and I did not buy anymore because I did not like them. Then again I bought the 2 Caiden Indy novels. If he was alive and wrote more Indy novels I don't think I would buy them.

I've got all four of them. There's nothing special or remarkable about them.
They're just like every other "Choose Your Own Adventure" book.

Didn't even know R.L.Stine wrote anything Indiana Jones related.

Indy has great potential for the "choose your own adventure" type books. Are there any out there?
I see a few Young Indy books out there on amazon.com, but I'm not that interested in young Indy. I didn't watch the show much, but it seemed that the stories always revolved around Forrest Gump-like situations where he meets historical figures.
Yes, the old "Find-Your-Fate" books. 11 of them from the mid-80s.
In my teens, I bought the very first one but somehow lost it somewhere
over the years. Should you decide to seek out any of these little books,
do keep in mind that they were written for children and the reader plays
the role of a young kid in the company of Indiana Jones.
The Literature Section at TheRaider.net has a good page on them:
http://www.theraider.net/information/books/adventure_findfate.php
An Indy role-playing game came out at the same time and a 2nd one in the '90s.
I've never played them but one adventure is based on the Marvel Comics story,
"The Fourth Nail"! A parade of others can be seen here:

Yep, there are a ton of Indy "Choose your own adventure" books. I remember reading about 5 of them in 6th grade. The books are awesome and action packed just like the movies. I remember that there was one about the Queen of Sheba, one that took place in South America, and another that took place in Turkey. The books are awesome!:D

Really? I was just at Disney and I don't recall seeing them. Maybe I just missed them. But the only books I saw were some Star Wars books and maybe a couple Indiana Jones ones, but I don't remember a choose your own adventure one.

I vaguely remember the 'Indy' Choose your own adventure (Or fate) books... Most of the books of that type put you in the role of a kid, but even as a kid I wanted to be an adult character and especially with an 'Indy' book... If you're reading an Indiana Jones 'Choose your own adventure', who'd want to be some twerpy kid when you could be the man himself!?

Hi there!
I've been away from the Raven for a while, but the recent news and IJ4 hype has brought me back. Now I'm getting caught up on all the old discussions.
If anyone's interested, I adapted a few of the Find Your Fate Adventures into straightforward narratives, picking out the best elements from all the story branches and putting them together. You can read them here (http://home.earthlink.net/~pandersonfam/). Let me know what you think.

That was always my problem with them, too. Even as a kid I remember thinking, "Who's brilliant idea was that?"

Do you guys have any idea how many adventures me & Indiana Jones went on?! These books were fantastic! Yes they were written for kids/teens, but I WAS a kid/teen in those days. To be able to go on an adventure with my favorite hero was great! I still pick up those books and go out on a fun trip with Dr. Jones and to rekindel my youth!:)

Not too long ago... two of my friends and myself went to the top of one of said friends' roof. There we sat for like 2 hours taking turns reading a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book, actually acting out the voices and such.
How sad considering I was 22 at the time.

As a kid, I remember being dismayed that you never read these books from the perspective of Indiana Jones. You were always playing as some "sidekick" that traveled with Indy on one of his legendary adventures.
I suppose that was still fun, but I wanted to be Indy!
I think the only ones I had were "Treasure of Sheba" and "Eye of the Fates."
Which book was it where you run into Belloq's brother?

I liked the unsuccessful ending in "Lost Treasure of Sheba" where a mob is after you and there's no escaping it.
As you cower behind Indy, he rolls up his sleeves and says something like, "Get ready kid."
I was optimistic.

A few times it's a cousin, sometimes it's an intern at the museum, at least once it's just a bystander who gets pulled into the adventure.

1-9, then 16 and 17. Numbers 10-15 were James Bond, I think. I loved these books when I was a teen. I wish they were still published with the original covers. My copies are pretty worn out, since I got them as they were published. I think a couple were reprinted to cash in on R.L. Stine's name after the Goosebumps series became popular.

I've got #4 Eye of the Fates. It's the only one I have. They are hard to find. I'd like to get the whole series eventually.
From the Young Indy "Choose Your Own Adventure" series I got #1 and #2. These books are also hard to find.

Ape Slaves was pretty bad. R.L. Stine took a hiatus from the series then returned with Ape Slaves. Megan Stine and H. William Stine continued with the next book, Mask of the Elephant. That one wasn't very good either.
I remember I did like some of the earlier books in the series (Horror Island, Mummy's Tomb, Eye of the Fates) but there were a few scenes that bothered me. One of them had Indy flying an airplane and some mention of "your uncle's expert flying skills" or something to that effect, which contradicts the movies. As far as I know, Indy learned to fly after Temple but never really learned to land.
Anyway, I wish I could find some mint conditions of these books with the original covers. Mine are pretty faded and worn out.

No really, they should reprint these!

If they do, I hope they use the original painted covers. There was some pretty good cover art for this series! The couple of books they did reprint of R.L.Stines had new covers with just a small picture of Indy's face framed in a box, and R.L.Stine's name in huge letters and nothing else of interest on the cover. That's why I never bought the reprints.
AnnieJones
11-23-2009, 06:19 PM
Yeah,I know right. It was so unfair because all it had on the reprinted covers were a small picture of Indiana Jones and even his name was in smaller letters compared to the big letters that provided the title of the books. On the cover of the originals people can easily see him(right there can't miss him)and his name(in big bold letters). The newer ones people have to practically search to find him and his name.I couldn't see him at first,I had to literally look for him to find him on the cover.
I totally agree with you about the original cover art as well. If it is going to be an "Indy book" it should have more of an Indy theme on the cover than what the newer covers have.
Anyway,I'm sooo happy I read two books that have good cover art(book 1 and 2 of the Indiana Jones Find Your Fate series).

They were great. They often dealt with sorcery and high adventure and sometimes science fiction. There weren't any Indy books. Here's a list of all of them: http://gamebooks.org/wwlist.htm
#9, Creatures of the Dark was always my favourite.

These books are pretty OK if you consider the time they were published in. They mostly have not so much to do with 'real' Indiana Jones anyway.
But I wanted them to complete my collection... ;)
