You guy's had to see this thread coming sooner or later. As a strait male, my intrest is basically in the area of "Indy Gear".
Anyway's I would think briefs because its more difficult for the creepy crawlers to find thier way into places you don't want them to go.

Ahh, the new wave of "Indy threads for males" - a counter-attack to the floodin' droolers.

Well, I've always preferred boxers - you gotta give your gear some room there. ;)

boxers for sure..
but for indy, what about Boxer-Briefs?

seriously, does anyone know anything about the customary male undergarments in the 40s?

Hmm.......

*thinks this is a bit much for an Indiana Jones message board. Stands and looks at a pocket watch retrieved from his pants*

Its time to ponder the discussion in this Indiana Jones portion of the bar. If you would like to discuss the topic of our beloved archaeologist in a more appropriate venue or participate in one of many already underway, than please do so.

*Returns to the bar shaking his head slowly.*

Boxers, for sure.

After looking at 1940's mens undies on this site:
http://www.vintageskivvies.com
<img src="http://pwp.surfglobal.net/banddvt/1940otis01ad.jpg">

I think Indy would definately be a briefs man... The boxers of those days were UGLY! uuuck! Looks like a skirt! I think it would be easier for a guy to manuver on ropebridges and fight on top of planes in briefs..Plus his butt just wouldn't look as great as it does in the khakis. There'd probably be VPL (Ladies, you know what I mean...for the guys thats "visible panty line).

Boxers...Indy needs freedom with all that gear on

For Indy, I'm sure he wore whatever was clean...or not as dirty as the other choices.

Of course theres another kind of freedom that doesn't involve either...but I'll leave it at that.

I cringe to think of what the character had to go through if this were the case...especially the last moments in the truck chase, ouch.;)

Ooh, what an interesting subject!

I have often wondered what kind of underwear Indy wore underneath his clothes. :o

Some time ago on COW, this very same subject came up and I replied with:

"I have always been of the opinion that he would have opted for something comfortable with freedom of movement and am of the opinion that he wore boxer shorts when playing our favourite adventurer!

I think that silk boxers would have been the best option from Indy's point of view. They were cool (think of all the hot countries that Indy travelled to) gave him freedom of movement and when things got really romantic with the ladies, he'd be able to impress them even more!

Oh my goodness. I can't believe we're discussing Professor Jones' underwear! What would our hero think?!"

Shame these weren't around in the 1930's. ;)

Briefs (after seeing vintage website pic). I'd like to imagine Indy at the height of style...

... But...

I can't really see him in either.

*muses over revelation*

Johan

Actually...Boxer Briefs.

IndyMcFly

Well I think it's kind of obvious, each opinion could just be each person giving their own experience. I also prefer boxer briefs, like Johan and Ren.

Interesting thread though.

Boxer briefs look sexy on the right men, but some people just shouldn't wear them. I'm sure you fine gentlemen look good in them though.

Hey, have you ever been to a beach in this icy hellhole? In here, we consider it hot-looking if chicks have (padded) jumpsuits while sunbathing...

For a while (don't know if you still can) StarWarsShop.com had Indiana Jones boxers for sale. Suppose that should shed light on his preferences.

SWS had them too? I thought they were just ET merchandise available at the LucasArts Company Store back in '03.

Well...

Modern men's underwear was largely an invention of the 1930s. On 19 January 1935, Coopers Inc. sold the world's first briefs in Chicago. Designed by an "apparel engineer" named Arthur Kneibler, briefs dispensed with leg sections and had a Y-shaped overlapping fly. The company dubbed the design the "Jockey" since it offered a degree of support that had previously only been available from the jockstrap. Jockey briefs proved so popular that over 30,000 pairs were sold within three months of their introduction. Coopers, having renamed the company Jockey, sent its "Mascul-line" plane to make special deliveries of "masculine support" briefs to retailers across the US. In 1938, when Jockeys were introduced in the UK, they sold at the rate of 3,000 a week

(Thank God for Wikipedia and its acurate information and 100% infallibility.)

So briefs, then. Can you imagine how ripe and moist they'd be after a few days in the rainforest? I hope Indy packed some talcum powder.

Really? You should meet the guy looking for the CS version of the Howdy Doody Song. And stop watching MTV.

High Colonic or Ex-lax and Espresso?

For that mater, circumsized or not?, you know how he hates snakes...cripes!
