Thought it was about time I posted on this board.
Just watched TOD today and when Indy releases Willie from the steel cage thingy he does the CAMPEST walk ever to the stones. It's as if he's walking on his tip toes.
So what are your campest moments in the trilogy?

I'm assuming you mean the most "campy" moment.
I think one line from LC is particularly campy:
"I'm like a bad penny-- I always show up." Somehow, I felt this line was a "miss" and more than a little lame on Indy's part. I'll bet it was an ad lib.
Adlib? I prefer Sound Blaster.

No, No I mean "camp" as in a Graham Norton/John Waters kind of way.
Camp in the UK means acting flamboyantly or feminine like how a stereotypical gay person would. Its actually quite hard to explain.
Sorry but I dont know the equivalent word in the US.

So, with the light being glaringly shed on what you mean by "camp," you think Indy's walk to the stones was, um, how do you say... a bit "lavender?" I didn't notice at all, myself. To me, Indy is the poster boy for masculinity-- and he's STRAIGHT as an arrow.
Straight as a board
Straight as a post
Straight as, well... as straight can be.
NOT at all like THIS...

I'd say the "Anything Goes" dance number from ToD is the campiest.

Indyologist, you should be severely beaten with a wet noodle for making Indy look that way. Shame, shame.
Just kidding.
Actually Bosco, the way Indy walked had more to do with Harrison Fords recent back surgery that had to be performed mid filming, so altho it looks "campy", I think the dude was in alot of pain.
Cut the guy some slack. Sheesh!

Actually it is almost a step-to-step recreation from a bit in the 1956 movie/musical "Anything Goes" (http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movies/movie.html?v_id=123410)...

I'd knew the scene was an homage to the movie musicals although I wasn't sure which one though.

That's the funniest thing I think I've seen in a long time...but at the same time it makes me want to puke!
Camp and Indy don't mix, I don't see any campy moments.

LOL! Wonder how Indy would fare on "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy?" They'd probably be almost wetting their pants trying to get Indy to take his shirt off!
Okay, I'm feeling a little ill thinking about GUYS drooling over Indy!

Okay, I'm just tryin' to keep my attention from the rest of the picture. Seriously, couldn't Indy purchase a nice Gucci man purse...er satchel for Indy IV?
"Campiest" Indy moment...let me think...
What kind of "real man" is scared of snakes? Or even better, would tell another man that he doesn't like snakes? That just screams "girly man."

LOL! Don't swallow your tongue!
About Indy smoking... well, they were supposed to make him a smoker. It was removed from Raiders (along with the "playboy" bit), but actually brought up again in ToD. The one of the earlier drafts of the script describes Indy lighting a cig when he enters Club Obi-Wan.
Also, the only characters who have actually smoked in an IJ movie have been women. Marion and Elsa.

Really? Didn't Belloq smoke a hooka?
And I know he wasn't a main character, but one of the Nazis smoked and threw the butt down the pipe that Indy was watching from on the ship.
Hmm. Odd. Can't recall Belloq smoking, but I do remember Katanga now. So my memory lacked.
It's just funny that Indy doesn't smoke (or who knows, maybe he does, it's just not showed in the movies) but two of his girls do.
And Willie didn't, because after watching her halfway through the movie, the viewer had smoke coming from his ears already.

Well, in the original draft of Temple of Doom, Indy was going to appear at Club Obi Wan, smoking!
Here's a bit from an article called Raiders of the Lost Drafts (from The Raider.net).
"And, shock horror, our first site of Indy is by the light of a match, as he lights a cigarette!"
<small>Canyon, now just look three posts up.</small>

Camp. Hmmmm... I think I'll add that meaning to my vocabulary! Good for confusing people: "You're so camp!" Maybe.
I think any of the Denholm Elliott scenes from Last Crusade are pretty campy.

Vogel is pretty camp in LC when he slaps Henry, Sr. with his glove, asking where the book is.

You almost expect him to follow it up with something like:
"By the way, after we find the Grail, I'll be in my tent from 10pm onwards. No pressure..."

I guess I've never looked at the movies that way before.
Sorry to put these ideas in your head! :)
Of course, we don't know for sure about the movie character - but keep in mind that some leading Nazis were gay, so it's not like it's an outrageous, "couldn't possibly be true" kind of concept.

I never, ever got any impressions that any of Nazis were gay in the trilogy. However, I DO know from a class I took on fascism that Heinrich Himmler wore a powder blue uniform and often wore makeup. Weird.

(And also LOL that suggesting this has made you think I might be gay!)

Since English is not my mother language what I did was seeing the meaning of CAMP here it goes: 1) like a woman, esp deliberatly; EFFEMINATE: a camp voice/walk/gesture 2) HOMOSEXUAL by behaving in a camp way.
Then, I looked at some posts here and....let me tell you, what a vivid imagination you have! What Indy has is beyond his courage ways is a thing called SENSIBILITY, that is missunderstood a great deal for you guys, that's a wrong point of view from you.
A man can be courageous without have the need to be a macho, those types are more suspicious to be gay than a man that shows all his sensibility and expresses it without fear.
Anyways I found very amusing the collage made by Indyologist!

I don't think he'd do that. He's an archeologist, been to almost every place in the world. I'd say he's really open minded to everything, even homosexuallity.
I don't really see any "campy" moments for him in the movies though. Well, maybe when he's wearing his bathrobe. ;)
BTW, did you guys know that you can find Indy/ Henry Slash stories out there on the internet? Have to admit that I read it though. Don't think I'll ever do it again.
