View Full Version : Indy's Knife in Temple of Doom???

All right, I just noticed something while watching Temple of Doom...
In the scene just after Indy spits out the blood and Shorty tries to start a ruckus, one of the Thugs goes for Indy's bullwhip. As he picks it up, something that was tangled up falls to the floor. Upon closer inspection, it looks to me like knife in sheath attached to a belt or strap. I've searched high and low for references to Indy's knife, but all I can turn up is info on his pocket knife in Raiders.
Any insights???

Seems to me Mola Ram or one of his flunkies gave him the knife when he enlisted.

No, this before Indy is on the payroll. This is right before the Giant Thuggee whips him with his own bullwhip. Track #21 "The Blood of Kali" 1:15:00. Check it out, you'll have to run it in slow-mo.

I think that is Shorty's knife. I've been told that you can see it in the spike roon as well.

Yes! I just watched the spike chamber scene, and Indy uses a knife to try to pry out the wall switch. Indy then hands it back to Shorty, which he then tucks into sheath on his belt. I had never noticed that before...
Thanks, Lightning. You have the eyes of a beagle. :)

malŽa`prop
Noun 1. malaprop - the unintentional misuse of a word by confusion with one that sounds similar
Technically this definition doesn't apply because I swapped "beagle" for "eagle" on purpose, rather than by accident. Nevertheless, I'm sure the comedic effect wasn't lost on the extraordinarily literate audience here at the Raven (and by the presence of a smily to indicate that I was joking). :D

Deadlock, if you were a superhero, your name would be "VOCABULARYMAN"

Thanks for the compliment, Indyologist. Or if it was an insult, I swear eternal war on you and your descendants. Just kidding. :)
Anyway, I think it might be more fun to be known as "MalapropMan".
Faster than lighting, stronger than eels, able to outrun a speeding mullet, it's MalapropMan!!! :D
