It's been so long since I've seen Raiders i don't remeber this stuff.
I think Marion and Indy should be in love in the end. Are they?

Hi there!
Welcome to The Raven!
Well, thats a very interesting question that you've just asked.
In Raiders the movie, Indy and Marion don't actually tell each other that they are in love, but I personally believe that they are.
Take for instance the scene on Sallah's balcony (one of my favourites). :D The way in which Indy and Marion look at each other, almost as if Indy wants to say something to her, and its almost as if a private moment exists between them.
In the novelisation Raiders, the scene where Indy and Marion are tied to a post and when the Nazis are just about to open the Ark, the following dialogue takes place:
Marion: "It's a helluva time to be making bad jokes, Jones. Still, I love you for it."
Indy: "Do you?"
Marion: "Love you? Sure."
One day I'm planning on writing a book set two months after Raiders, where I will be exploring Indy and Marion's relationship further. ;)

Yeah, it seems to me that they are in love, but we never find out what happened to her...she just disappeared in LC!

The way in which Indy and Marion look at each other, almost as if Indy wants to say something to her, and its almost as if a private moment exists between them. The banter in the marketplace was pretty indicative of people who are more than just "in like" ;)

When he thinks Marion has died, he takes to the booze and is basically suicidal. Do I think he would have been like that for Willie or Elsa? Nope :) Draw your own conclusions from that.

You are so lucky not being able to remember Raiders. I wish I could watch Raiders for the first time, I've seen it about 15 times.

It is another case of Bond. Meaning that someone can be head over heels for someone, but by the next movie, they're gone! Marion probably got hit by a German car explaining the line:
"Nazis, I hate these guys!"\
Wink, Wink, nudge, nudge, grin, grin, say no more...

No way they stayed together. Indy is an ultimate player so I kinda doubt he'd want or need a perminant woman. He shared some early time with Marion so of course he'd feel badly, but more so because he felt responsible for her death.
Keep in mind that Marion was supposed to be a prostitute while at the raven after Abner died to make ends meet. I doubt a player such as Indy would care to have a former prostitute as his main woman. Plus, Marion was much to independant to be with Indy for too long after she got her cut of the prize money from the Ark.
They seemed to both have the same personality. Marion was just a tad bit more up front. Gotta love that character.

Its in the novel.
Like agent5 said. She had no money, no place to stay. So she could stay in the Raven but only if she did some servises for the guests. and I dont mean serving drinks.
After the owner died she got the raven.

Marion also hints towards that in the film.

In the earlier drafts fo the script Indy is portrayed as an alcoholic who carries around a flask, always taking sips off it. If you look carefully at the film he's not far from that.
Drinks are being drank, poured or discussed quite a bit in the film by all the characters.
Sign of the times.

I think Indy cares for Marion but he is not in love with her. In Raiders, he grieved for Marion but his grief wasn't that of someone who lost his true love but of someone who felt responsible for the death of a someone he cared about.
Plus, Indy certainly doesn't stay with her because she is completely absent in the Last Crusade. Indy flirted, then later slept, with Elsa the first chance he got.
Doesn't really sound like something a 'hero' would do if he had the love of his life waiting for him at home.

Perhaps, the drama of life-threatening ordeals may have caused them to become close and then fall in love but after it was all over they realized they weren't in love, just really good friends.
or
they had a really "open" relationship
