Hmmmm, ..........Taiwan?

Not the usual vacation destination.

Did you spell that right? Did you mean to say Thailand?..... as in Pattaya?, Phuket?,

I'm not sure what Taiwan has to offer other than being caught up in an invasion from The PRC.

Just joking OK. I've always been interested in Taiwan. I've never been there. Been to Hong Kong, but never Taiwan.

Enjoy Mathias! And come back with some stories.

I've been to Hong Kong... I have bad memories from that place. I didn't like the food at all, so I had to go looking for food that I liked. Chinese food is different in China. They served me a chicken that still had it's eyes. *shudder*

I'm on vacation too. I'm travelling the world in 14 day's....actually its kinda true...It's our annual Folklorama Festival. Pavillions from around the world have there own presentations of authentic food, beer, clothing, and dancing.
I was in Australia today, it was cool seeing the dingaroo being played by the aboriganies (sp?)
I think I'm going to Scotland tommorro and getting some Tennant's beer.

Done! Although these are technically not vacation pictures as you would normally see, we rented two "themed rooms" during out vacation that are very Indyish and as Ren pointed out, one room is reminiscent of Star Wars. I was waiting for Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen to appear. Check it out... (http://www.ricktheriault.com/hiddenpage/)

I sooooooooooooo envy you guys. Teh hat business only slows don toward mid July and early Aug long enough for any vacation. Unfortunatly, poor people that live in unfinished houses and have shop and office space under construction, have teh option of either a pittance of money when making hats or time to work on the house and office but no money when the hats slow down . Either way no vacations here but no complaints also. Well I am told I will now go help finish a replacement hat. This is the part of the business I hate. You finish a true master piece hat and then a customer decides it was not as perfect as they originally thought. You have a choice of the legal stance that they accepted it as finished and all perfect or you can do the humanitarian thing and ruin 5 more expensive hat bodies trying to make them a hat as they decide they want which you think is not good at all. Oh well enough belly aching and I will go finish up that hat as I brought it home for this reason.

The rest of my extended family lives in Taiwan. I swear...how the heck did Harrison Ford manage to survive the heat in India and elsewhere in GEAR? I can't even survive here with shorts and a tee-shirt! I was in gear on the plane from Massachusetts to Chicago to Tokyo to Taiwan and on the wonderfully air conditioned plane it was alright, but once we got off onto land I was like.."Oh crum..." You can't breathe here...very humid, very hot..No wonder Harrison was sweating buckets in th "Cairo chase" scene and the scenes set in India.

Next compliant...I am a stupid, stupid fool. I forgot to bring my Indy DVDs...(Well, the two I have left :( ) NO ONE HERE HAS INDY VIDEOS!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I'm extremely grateful for Jackie Chan Movies and HBO, but it's still not Indy... Hey, get this: Jackie Chan's home in Taiwan (His wife is Taiwanese) is in the same apartment complex as my Grandmother and Uncle, where I'm staying!

Anyways..I miss Indy enormously and can't wait to get back to the States so I can watch Indy and bask in the harmless weak rays of the Massachusett's sun in gear without getting roasted alive.

Good food here, though.
