Hey, I don't know if this has been posted about. But have you guys noticed that in the dvds (Raiders anyways) the volume of the audio gets quieter during loud sequences (on my Dolby 5.1 anyways), like at the end when Indy and Marion are tied up to the posts and the "beings" are flying around them and lasers are shooting around, it really seems like it should be a loud scene but it gets quieter. Is that just because the movies weren't filmed in full surround?
You guys having the same problem?
Thanks
Tim
Well at least I know that there are two kinds of edits in the movies.
1. The quality is better, and some mistakes have been corrected.
2. The sound and music is full surround, and music is louder than on the VHS versions.
It might be intentional. They have reworked the volumes between different sound effects (and music) to tone down the ones that seem to grab too much attention to create the viewer even more balanced (and athmosphere-rich) soundscape.
It's completely another question do you find it more enjoyable or not then...

There are few effects I enjoy more than the gunshots in the Raven bar! Weirdly enough, my favorite sound effects, I think. They seemed toned down more on the DVD's but it could be my imagination...

to tell you the truth I didn't like it when the sound pitched down, because it was pretty obvious. But did you guys notice it also? I just want to know for sure that it is the dvd's. And hopefully I don't have bad ones.
To be honest, I didn't actually pay attention to the scene's sound effects to note anything being different... but my suggestion is still a good one considering we're talking remastered movies.
