Please help me name my forum

I am going to take th plunge today or tomorrow! I am opening the new forum . I am looking for a name .

My forum will be sectioned off into Indiana Jones interest.

Hat interest in general .

General conversation.

Icq and instant messenger and online friends section.

I am open to new names new sections changes, deletions, additions and comments.

I am further interested in a name for the actual Bar.

The link will likly be fedora .

The name may be The Fedora Bar or The Blue Fedora or it may be some name you point out here.

Plese help and not be offended if your name is not choosen or is.

My forum will have little or no moderation and will be for adults or adult minded people. If you come to visit or join, you will need tough skin and if you cannot take the heat then stay out of th kitchen.

Finally I should not say my forum as it will be the peoples forum. You will be the admin and the mods. I will only be there to post when I please but will not be running it from any involved capacity. I am looking for a couple 3 Mods but not in sense of the strict moderation at this and other forums. I just do not want people getting on to talk Vulgar or disrupt it or to spam it with nothing. I do not want to restrict a thread to have to remain OT . If you want to diversify a topic then it is fine. If there is too much objection to this we as a group will decide and fix it. if any problems exist we as a group will decide and fix them.

I positivly am not trying to steal any one from this or any oter forum and want to offer you an option and a second 3rd or forth place to post. A place tht is truly differnt thatn any before it.

We will alow soliciting and advertisments . We will allow any one to promote their business in a reasonable manner. We will be liberal conseratives. I can only Hope that Rick will take me up on my offer to act as one of the main people that drops in to make sure things are not over board. If any here would like to help in that capacity please let me knw.

If you have any oter thoughts on the matter please le me know and know in no uncertain terms.

Well, you do not want it directly associated with your business name so if things get wild, your business doesn't suffer - you may not know you are offending a person who just placed a large order - but you still want it to address your subject of business; namely hats. With that in mind:

Thanks Finn, As I have just semi finalized the agreement and am aboutto click the buy button on the same software most current ver that runs this board, name suggestionswould be nice.

The one thing I am not asking for is any financial support and while I certainly would not want the forum to eiter hurt nor contain my business name, the intent of the forum is not to promote my business but instead to promote all hat businesses every where and also promote free speaking like the childless issue and a myriad of other issues.

I have heard of Speak easies all my life but never kne it was an actual bar. I understand they generically named them speak easies in chicago during the prohibition times. Can always count on you Steve for the best ideas . NOW where the heck was you while I been sanding bondo all day .. Dang I am sure one more fine coat will get it there. Could not imagine all you went through on Marc's old block but I know now.

Sanding bondo down is a job. Not one that I would want to do again. But, it works, and is durable. It is easier if you just have to use a little to make a dome where it is flat. I had to build up the entire sides and top of the block. Like I say, I sure don't want to do it again. regards, Steve

Steve do not know if the forum will even get off the ground. Am positive it will not if I depended on folks like the ones that post here. But then again I am starting the forum for lfolks exactly the oppisite the ones that post here.

It will be a mature site for grown up people not kiddies.

Of course I am going to have a romance and dating section
and a bunch of fat girls and losers looking for a man. Or them young indy studs that love to tease the gals.

I am hoping to have you on staff in your free time if that exist, as the resident IJ hat expert. I do not really expect to have mods as such but some oversight to make sure things do not get plumb out of hand.

At least it will be a place where people like runquist and deckard, lewis and webber will not be able to start their lies and not have any one openly challenge them. I doubt they will even show up as I say it will be fr grown ups not for kids so that kinda rules them out.

I just got word earlier that I cannot get the contract till morning so it should all be going by next week. May end up like FL wher they are down to the 6 or 8 members that all are getting the free hats and now that they have competition in their own ranks they are starting to fight themeselves as they cannot fight any one else but I cannot imagine it as I think folks like to read the truth just do not like to admit it.

I too Deadlock like Ricks suggestions and I like yours as well. I thank you for them. I was a bit susprised that they did not complete th contract to set it all up yet but should not be susprized as I have found few business men in past 20 years that are ffcused on business and all seem to allow thier personal lifes to dictate how their business runs. Simply sad but true. If I ran my business as do oters I would have nobusiness. I suspect in the end most businesses are side line businessess. never the less if I do geta contract to day I will finalize this for the time being .

Indyologist while you may value your deragotory post her, and hope to gether support for them , I fear you will not find any public support at all as I think the primary gropu is a bit more mature than lower them selves to this behavior. Hey Charlie. How about simply calling it "The Sterling Beaver?" It sounds classy to those who understand hats, sounds impressive for normal folk who do not undertstand hats and it sounds a bit perverted to those who are, well - a bit perverted - but is the creme de la creme of what you do. Here is a definition from Dictionary.com:

Genuine; pure; of excellent quality; conforming to the highest standard; of full value; as, a work of sterling merit; a man of sterling good sense.

Plus, you get the added benefit of those searching for the ultimate hat getting a Google hit and finding your board, so they have the opportunity to discuss hats with the man who makes them.

Thank you for your support. I am not jumping down her for this one pos but the cumulative attitude of her recent post that are applicable to me. In fact I have not jumed he at all but her pos only. I appreciate you may find her to be amusing and any number of oter qualities, I certainly do not have to find similar values nor exend her the latitudes you do if I do not recieve a similar degree of respect from her.

Rick, you make some premium points here. I guess I have never made my position clear enough. While it certainly will be a board to talk hats on I want it to be a good time bar with room for a multitude of discussions. Possibly even a section for young romancers to find a safer place to meet an interest of the same or oppsite sex. I have considered a section for ICQ nad oter online chat admirers but ferthe entire site would get hijacked by the vicious ICQ group then as it became so popular the young turk and russian hackers make thier living selling the stolen Uins from ICQ. I lve the name The Sterling Beaver. I think for sure it has to be intregrated in to the theme some how or be the name its self of the bar. Dalia will make the final word on it or Folks like you rick and th rest will in combination with Dalia. It truly is not going to be my forum but the peoples forum. I simply want a place to post and argue wih whom so ever wants to argue with me. But my greater purpose is to have a classy joint where folks can come and enjoy. I would love to have a Moderatedd nd non moderated section of it so that we can have best of both worlds.

GH, I’m merely suggesting that if maturity is your goal, then patience and graciousness might be something to invest in. You can say, "I wasn’t talking about her, I was talking about her post" all you like. I'm just telling you that you just might want to watch the words you choose. Calling her post "childlike" and encouraging her posts to be "a bit more mature" really isn't called for. We can bring in the lawyers and the nitpickers to engage in the hairsplitting necessary to decide whether your comments were limited to her post without reflecting on her person. I'd rather not.

Now to put this more plain. You do not know what you are talking about and need to but out of it. That said Ineed to address the matter privatly with her and you do not need to be come the next Ren that thinks you have some wholly powerthat requires you protect all the innocents. They have a feller that does that already and his name is Gilles.

As you said, I’m basing what I had to say exclusively on the posts within this thread. It happens to be my belief that just as each day is a new day, each thread is a new thread. I try to limit the amount that we bring hard feelings from other threads and messages into new threads. There’s no reason why we can’t agree and be friends in one thread, and be diametrically opposed to one another in another thread. If you are claiming the moral high ground (and the right to be impolite), I guess I have to take your word for it. I made my call based on what I saw happening in your thread.

Also, I’m not trying to be a superhero. I’m fully aware that there are mods and that I am not one of them. However, let me say this. Self-regulation is what is needed in a mature forum. It’s not about scoring points with anyone; it’s about playing fair. Are the mods the only who should support that? Besides, running to the mods all the time is silly. If you can’t respect what I have to say because I’m not a mod, so be it.

The issue of when to use PMs versus posting is such a grey area. However, in this case, when so much of the discussion has already gone on in public… It might as well be resolved here too.

Deadlock, I want to add I have ultimate respect for you and maybe I say things all wrong. maybe i should have sent he last message PM but I assure you I am not sore at you but on this one please let her take up for her on thoughts and actions. I honestly think she can make some improvements and feel better about her self.
