For me this is a very tough choice as I consider Harrison's acting in all three films to be superb, but I would really like to know everyone's opinion on this. :D

He played such a different character in each one, though. The basic theme was there, but each movie he acted a little differently. You can't really say, "Well, in temple he acted most like Indy" esp. since he acts different from one that came out first. But you can't really say "He acted best in Raiders because it was his first and set the precedent" either I don't think.

So I'm just going to answer the question, "Which Indy character did I like the best" because I can't really compare the exact characters of the three to each other. Am I thinking too deeply into this? Anywho, my vote goes for raiders. LC is my favorite movie, but I like the raiders "Indy character" the best.

Ouch, ToD is doing bad. It was a tie for me between Raiders and LC, I voted LC though.

Had to go with Raiders.

I think Indy (Ford) is very mysterious in Raiders. He doesn't talk much. The movie had a great storyline and had comedy.

ToD was more of a dark, evil movie if you will. He was more careless and seemed like because of this he cared less and less about his morals and values. Plus it had very little comedy.

LC really showed what Indy was like. It showed some of his background and his family. It revealed a lot more of the character, and had a lot of comedy in it.

"What happens at 11 o' clock?"

This is my analysis of the trilogy, They are all great movies.

Raiders had the best acting job because He played Indy on so many levels...

tough...but a weak spot for women and snakes. Lots of great emotion

I had to go with Raiders. With LC a close second. The reason for my choice is simple. Without Raiders there would be no ToD and no LC. I figure that if Ford hadn't done such a great job in Raiders we may not have the other two films.

I say Raiders because that was when it was new and fresh. The other two just branch off of it...

I think the Temple of Doom I dont't know why exactly think it might be because it was the first Indiana Jones film I watched. However I think Harrison Ford was fantastic in all three of the fiilms.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the Raven. Enjoy the stay. BTW, how's Mr. Jones doing? He better be gettin' in shape for Indy IV.

Back on topic, I went for Raiders since it was the first of the three, and HF had the added challenge of introducing the Indiana Jones character to the viewers. If he would have screwed the first performance up, there might not have been a TOD or LC. I couldn't imagine...

It was a toss up, between ToD and LC for me, because, I was just thinking of the emotion he showed when he hugged Shorty, and the way he cared for Henry. I got to thinking about the castle scene in the room, with Henry, and just the way he performed, and the way he was, when he told Henry that he hit him, and then, how he said it was alright, and, anyway, in the end, I voted:

Last Crusade.
LC LC LC LC LC LC LC LC LC LC LC LC LC LC. :whip:

Oh, and you can count out the extra vote from CL (Not LC, but CL: Chatter Lal) ;) for ToD.

RotLA - Ford's portrayal of the character (and the script/story itself) in this film was the most balanced and believable. It also has the advantage of mystery. This movie introduced Jones to the world and (thankfully) didn't try to give us the "full story." I also feel that this was the most "mature" (less obvious play with the characterization) of the performances. Ironic, since it was the first, but typical of actors reprising roles.

Ford's acting was great in all three, of course! :)

Temple of Doom. Thats where we really started to see Indy's true colors. Ford was spectacular throughout the movie, displaying comedy, fear, pain, bravado, and heart. Think of the club scene in the beginning, the fight with Willie, hugging Short Round, wrstling for the stones of Cheba, etc. All classic Indy moments acted perfectly by Ford.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Because it's the first one. It's a new character for Harrison.
In the other movies, it's alway the same character but a little bit change.

I agree - Temple of Doom was his best performance.

Well, I feel that Indiana Jones was a different man in each of the three films. Sure, there are similarities in Harrison's performance in all the films but there are some differences in Indy's attitude as Ford played out that character. Indy rubbed off on me as a hard-boiled, world weary, laconic and maybe bitter kind of man in Raiders of the Lost Ark. In Temple of Doom he was more of a slapstick humor, caution to the wind kind of fellow. In Last Crusade he seemed to have this 'rising to grace' and subdued kind of mien. Maybe it was because of the presence of his father or the impact of the Raider's climax a couple years earlier. I think a guy on here by the name of Bob explored this idea a few months ago. Anyway, Raiders of the Lost Ark has my vote as HF's best acting.

Close call between Raiders and ToD for me. Went for ToD in the end cos I liked the different sides to the character that were brought out in scenes with Short Round and Willie.

This really is something of a loaded question.

In all three of the films, it can hardly be argued that Harrison Ford gave anything but a great performance... however, they were all slightly different performances. IMO, that goes right in line with the progression of the character over the course of the three films.

In Temple, you've got a younger, brasher Indy that is hellbent on finding treasure, getting rich, and being famous.
In Raiders, the hard edge is still present -- Indy is not a nice guy. The desire for fame is also still there, but it isn't what is driving him this time.
In Crusade, Indy is wearying of the rip-roaring lifestyle that he's led. He's still a rough-and-tumble guy, but he's visibly getting sick of it, and trying to resume a more "normal" life (which ties in with finding his father).

So regardless of which one you pick as your favorite, you can't definitively say that one performance was better than the others. Ford is such a superb actor that the real question is, "Which Indy is your favorite?"

I'll go with Raiders, because in that movie he had to invent the character in the other two he just had to delve deeper. But he is fantastic in all three.
