I think the DVDs will sell very well if thay come out at the same time as the 4th Indy movie.

I've been waiting patiently for a boxed DVD collection of these. I would buy three sets...one for myself and one each for two sets of grandsons. They are terrific and I know they would sell very well. They are classics. Young boys and adults alike love this adventures series. Who do we push to get these released?

I will gladly buy the sets when they come out, although I'm not sure that they will appeal to those outside of the hardcore fan base or the curious. I think that, with the right marketing and timing, they have the potential to do very well and I hope they do.

Welcome to the Raven, mintcity!!! :whip:
I agree with you... however as a young lass I'd like to say that even little girls love this adventure series (I was like 6 and watching Young Indy every afternoon after school) ;) .

You could divide the poll, asking how well the DVDs would sell if they were packaged as:
1. 22 individually wrapped 90-minute 'movies,' or
2. 2 season-length 6-disc sets

They should sell reasonably well if they're timed to be released with the 4th Indiana Jones movie. I would buy them only if they had English subtitles on them, and I see no reason why others wouldn't buy them.

I'd gladly buy a set. All it has to do is come out first! Honestly, it's about time for this series to come out on DVD. :whip:

I think that it is very very very important that the YIJ series is released on DVD after Indy 4 hits the theaters. The release of Indy 4 will renew interest in the TV series and help them sell better. Not everyone liked the YIJ series, but with a sucessfull Indy 4 in theaters people might give it another chance or even attract new fans. Releasing the TV series before Indy 4 hits theaters will be very counter productive for both Indy 4 and the YIJ series.

They probaly would if they had the right press and retouching on the old TV effects in the movies. I've only seen like two or three Young Indys anyway:( .
I saw part of "the mystery of the blues" on the USA network years back, like the year 2000 back, LOL! "tales of innocence" which in my opinion should of been called something else. His intentions were not so innocent :hat:. And I saw one, I forget the title now, but it was one where INdy's mom feels a bit ill in like China or something. Oh, and the one where Anna Jones almost has an affair with that opera guy(i'm sorry his name escapes me), and Indy has to save the day. I clearly remember Anna breaking down, saying something about how sorry and surprised she was about the whole thing. It would have been quite a scandal back then.
Sorry, I'm rambling. I think DVDs of the show would do well if marketed well.

Not if they did what every other franchise does, and release them RIGHT BEFORE the new film opens. ;)

I disagree. The Indiana Jones movies were very successful, the TV series was not. I would say most movie goers who will see Indy 4 have very little interest in YIJC. I would say releasing YIJC before Indy 4 might even put a bad taste in peoples mouth about Indy 4. They might remember that they did not realy dig the TV series and conclude that Indy 4 might resemble the TV series. The best way to market the YIJC is to release them after Indy 4 hits theaters and hope they can convert new young Indy fans.
Bottom line, If anything Indy 4 will spark Interest in YIJC. YIJC will not spark interest in Indy 4 and would not benifit at all being released before Indy 4

Well marketing sure would love to tie in YIJC with IV.

yeah, I would think that when indy 4 comes to dvd, then maybe we will see YIJC on dvd. but its probally just wishfull thinking.

They would probably sell best if released like a week after Indy 4.
If it was released like tomorrow or something, very few people outside the major fanbase will purchase it until the movie comes out. And maybe not even then.
They have to make Indy 4 good, and then release the TIJC

First off, let me say I Looooooove Young Indy. However, many people find it a bore. Unfortunately, I don't think the series will sell well. However, Lucas should make a small number of copies available to fans who want to buy them online. Also, they should apologize for not realeasing the full series on VHS back in the 1999 (as was promised) and offer DVD replacements of episodes purchased on VHS. That was the biggest scam I've ever seen. If they realized that they weren't selling well on VHS, they should have at least released the rest online.

No offense, but excuse me while I laugh at this statement...
... that's better. That is just not gonna happen.
I would wager that they would sell okay, but not splendidly. An order-only type deal would be the most cost-effective approach, considering the people who would buy Young Indy tend to be more than just casual fans. Most of the people who would buy it would - with a minimum of overstock.
I do hope they all do come on on DVD in one form or another though.

They would sell better as a boxed set, which was the intention. Honestly, I don't know what happened to them? The production certainly isn't at a loss for money.

I think there are two 'main types' of Indy fans
1. Those Indy fans who are interested ONLY in the movies, and so would be anticipating the upcoming Indy 4 but have no interest in any spin off TV series or the DVD release of YIJC.
2. Then there are the fans who love anthing involving the Indy universe, the TV series, books, comics etc, aswell as the films.
I would place myself largely in the former group, although I would be interested in seeing some comics to accompany Indy 4 and maybe an animated series if done right - but I have no interest in YIJC or existing books etc.
I think the majority of Indy fans are in group 1, and so I wouldn't necessarily equate the release of Indy 4 with good sales for YIJC on DVD - although they would probably sell a little better at this time than they would any other.
I understand that there will be other 'types' of Indy fans out there, some will just like Raiders and not TOD or LC, I'm sure there are a few who love YIJC but hate the movies, but I'd say the two types of fan mentioned above account for 99% of fans.

Does anyone know how well the DVDs have been selling? I know they've been doing OK on Amazon.com, but that's not a good representation of overall sales.
