This thread is just for discussing anything related to geneology: which will most likely be family history. Just to give the conversion a gentle cattle prod, houseofnames.com is great for family crests. I found my grandmother's maiden name, Hackert, was Irish (not German) and a spelling variation of Hackett, meaning "man with axe." I couldn't find my surname, though, due to it's Slovak origin. Unfortunately, I no longer have any family members who are fluent in Slovak. Enough of my waffling. Go ahead and post.
