It's become a habit. Everytime I find a new recent picture of Alison Doody, I can't help but show it to you guys:
Here she is, on October 30th, at the Irish Film and Television Awards, looking as splendid as ever:

30's/40's is NOT OLD!! 85 and up-- now THAT'S old. Frankly, I'm tired of people suggesting that once a woman turns 30 she starts falling apart, getting hot flashes and collecting social security. BTW, men hit their sexual peak at 21-25, women at 30-35.

Yeah right: Im 25, when I get married she'll be younger than me. I'll stay married to her...for a while. Until she turns 40, then Im dumping her ass for some hot 20yr old massage therapist!!! I'll just keep doing that every 20 years or so. To quote Dazed and Confused "I get older and they stay the same age." :P

Men can stay attractive well into their 60's (Harrison Ford) or 70's (Jack Nicholson, Sean Connery) whereas women start to lose their looks in their 40's. Im not being mean, just a fact. Compare Julia Roberts now to 10 years ago, or what about Allison Doody? Not nearly as hot as when she was in LC. How many 40+ yr old women celebrities do you see gracing the cover of magazines, or headlining movies?

Ouch! That's kinda like a slap in the face! You sound like the type of person to walk up to a gorgeous 18 year old girl, point to her face and yell, "By the time you turn 40, you're gonna look F'UGLY! It's a FACT! Stop crying! You know it's gonna happen!!"

Beauty isn't about age. We all know that. In fact, it's such an inherant truth, it's present in nature.
How many people could call their grandmothers ugly?

1. Julia Roberts was never attractive.
2. Alison Doody looks very good for her age.

Is that why more and more young guys are going after older women? And besides, women are the ones who have to bear children. That speeds up the aging process a bit.

1) Julia Roberts was hot when she was 18, she was really hot in Erin Brockovitch (5 years ago) but has started loosing her looks.
2) Allison Doody does look good for her age (like I said) but she looked WAY better in LC, and we havent seen her in anything of note since then.
3) Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore dont count.
4)
Name one supermodel 40+ that has headlined any fashion show/magazine/or special?
Name one actress 40+ that has headlined and carried a movie all by herself?
Name one 40+ actress that was the lead in any TV show that was successful?

And who called Grandmothers ugly!? I never said that. Or walking up to 18 year old girls and teling them they'll be ugly in 21 years??? I never said any of that! All I'm saying is women lose their looks before men do, Im sorry its true.
And YES of course I was kidding about dumping my future wife for a young 20yr old.

According to Hollywood, physical beauty might be the only measure... But I hope that most people aren't so shallow as they buy into that. (I'm mostly talking about REAL life, not what works in Hollyweird).
Insisting that everyone fit some stereotype of beauty is lame. That standard has fluctuated throughout the years. Back in the day... doughy, pale chicks were the bee's knees. Even in our own century, Marilyn Monroe didn't fit the mold of today's anorexic models with implants. She had naturally occurring CURVES (and how :)).
Finally, the propaganda that every man should be with a 21-year old regardless of his age is a bunch of crap. It's insulting to women everywhere. There are more important things than mere appearances... Spending a lifetime in love with one person is worth infinitely more than a constant rotation through the babe-of-the-week.
EDIT: OR, I'm glad you were joking. But unfortunately, I don't think some people are. Good ol' Harrison and Calista come to mind...

OR, your views to me are quite hilarious. :D And by the way, I wasn't intending to upset you with that 18 year old post. I had too much coffee, so I'm on overload. I intended it to be a funny post, just highlighting the current situation in time in a humorous manner. :D

It's not the child bearing that speeds up the process (infact the opposite effect happens to women who are pregnant.) IT'S THE CHILD that ages mothers! lol

At 44 Joan Allen almost won a best actress award for her Role in The Contender and yes, she carried that movie.
http://festivaldeauville.free.fr/2003/images/allen.jpg
(she was pretty good in Plesantville too, at 42)
Glen Close carried Fatal Attraction at age 40, and that was in 1987. Her accolades about carrying movies after that in well noted too.
And keep an eye on Nicole Kidman. She is 37 and is showing now signs of wear. Heck, I'd tadpole with her any day :p

I just got back from the Chiller Theater Convention at the Meadowlands. I was lucky enough to meet some huge childhood crushes while I was there, namely Elvira and Daisy Duke.
Elvira--real name Cassandra Peterson--was actually not dressed in her Elvira gear, but as a regular person. According to the IMDB she is 55 years old, but my jaw dropped when I saw her. She looked like a million bucks! Just absolutely gorgeous. And I told her, I said, "You look like a million bucks. You look amazing!"
Daisy Duke, on the other hand, did not age quite so gracefully.
But the point is, you can be a woman over 40 and still look as amazing as you did at 20. Just look at Teri Hatcher.
By the way, Olivia Hussey was there, and she looked beautiful as did Melody Anderson from the Flash Gordon movie.
Age means nothing, it's how well you take care of yourself. I mean, I just saw a recent picture of Sophia Loren, and I admit it gave me naughty ideas. And she's 70!
Back on topic, that picture of Alison looks fantastic. And I think she looks even better now.

Congratulations to everybody who has found the exceptions to the rule!!! Now think about all the 40+ men who have carried movies by themselves, are headline musicians, and still remain attractive. In fact, go to a website that has Best Actor/Best Actress for the past 6 years, add up all the men vs. all the women who were over 40 when they won . Let me do it for you:
Last 6 Best Actor Oscars:
2003 Sean Penn (over 40)
2002 Adrian Brody
2001 Denzel Washington (over 40)
2000 Russel Crowe
1999 Kevin Spacey (over 40)
1998 Roberto Benigni (over 40)
total: 4
Last 6 Best Actress Oscars:
2003 Charlize Theron
2002 Nicole Kidman
2001 Halle Berry
2000 Julia Roberts
1999 Hillary Swank
1998 Gwyneth Paltrow
total: 0
any questions???
Edit: if you keep going back it gets even worse.

What are you exactly trying to prove? That men are better than women just because some of Hollywood's top actors are attractive in their golden years? It's Hollywood! They're supposed to look good! Give me an example of someone average like the rest of us.

1) Allison Doody looks good for her age.
2) Men age better than women.

Where are you seeing an increase in this trend? :p
A FEW guys will date older women but even then its stops WAY before the chick hits your mom's age.
But I've known girls in that HAVE dated guys their parents age...and more than once. Sickening if you ask me...
Pregnancy doesn't speed up the aging process, that's a myth.
So is that saying, "I used to be a size *insert that size you loved when you were 16*. But, I'm just can't seem to be able to lose all that baby weight I accumulated."
Lady, your kid is twelve. :p
I believe nagging and lack of sports can be directly attributed to the aging process. Nag less during the ball game, and I garantee women would stop getting those weird lines that seem to appear at the eyes and mouth when women hit their mid-20s. :p :D :D

See, the thing with cold hard facts is that you can often read them a number of ways. You can read this to determine that women lose something of their talent once they reach age 40, while men actually develop talent. However, you could also read it to say that there is a problem with a society that overvalues youth and traditional visions of physical beauty in women. That's how I might look at it.
