A heartfelt and sad goodbye to you, Johnny. You were around before I was a twinkle in my daddy's eye, but when I grew up, I appreciated you and your humor. I didn't get to watch you much being that I had to be in bed by 10pm to go to school the next day and all. But when I was able to watch you, you nearly made me pee my pants, you were so funny. My favorite times were when you had the live animals on. I'll never forget how funny it was when some critter would jump on you or give you a hard time! You were a master of the ad-lib-- of any opportunistic comic moment that came your way from man or beast. Your warm and wacky humor got us through good times and bad times in our country, and you helped us to laugh through it all. I miss your hilarous deadpan facial expressions while we were rolling on the floor laughing, I miss your good-natured jabs at your guests and I miss your pre-commercial "golf swings."
Goodnight, Johnny-- and thanks.
