When Young Indy was originally aired I was fortunate enough to record it
on both ABC in the States and CTV here in Canada at seperate times and
I noticed that there are small differences in the edits. Some American
broadcasts were a tiny bit shorter.

There are at least 2 that I can identify:

1) Princeton - February 1916 (20 secs.)
After Indy helps Mr. Stratemeyer with a solution to his latest "Tom Swift"
cliffhanger, he and Nancy leave the room - the picture and music dissolve
into the gas/repair station scene. The *extended* version has Stratemeyer
getting up from his desk and walking to another door. He opens the door
revealing 2 men (printers, by assumption) and says that he has a great
new idea for the story...

2) German East Africa - December 1916 (20 secs.)
The opening assault on the German laager was trimmed down on ABC and
did not show a portion of the action including Indy, Remy & askaris busting
through the brush barricade. The cut went from the first grenade explosion
to Indy, on other side of barricade, clipping a guy's jaw with the butt of his
revolver.

I'm curious to know if anyone knows of others and if they've been included
on the official VHS releases. (I didn't buy these particular titles).

I was watching X-Files on DVD & noticed on the episode Piper Maru that they had cut 2.13 seconds when Mulder is talking to Scully about agent Krycek.

And how does that contribute to the conversation?

Just adding support to the post about missing scenes, as I can empathize with Stoo. Although I’m no fan of YIJC’s I realize that it can be so annoying when your favorite scene is cut. For example, it’s so frustrating when George Lucas continues to edit his movies like Star Wars years later. I only mentioned X-Files as I’m a huge fan of David Duchovny, but I prefer Harrison Ford of course.

Do you like Die Hard too?

Do you like Die Hard too?

Yes, Die Hard is very similar to Indy and Bruce Willis is great as John McClane. ;)

Die Hard 2 is my favorite so far… :whip:

Well, The Princeton 1916 Scene is included in the 1999 Video. I don't remember the other episode very well, but It probubly is on the tape

Finally! An answer to my question!:D If the Princeton 1916 scene was
included on the official VHS then I have no doubt that other missing
scenes were as well. This is a good thing.

It makes me wonder why these cuts were made in the first place...
The Old Indy "bookends" weren't very popular so it's not a shock
that they were dropped from the releases but it's too bad the
opening credits sequence was left out, too.

Thanks for the reply, 00Kevin! Imagine my surprise when I joined this
forum and found little enthusiasm for Young Indy. :(

sadly, young indy is dead. no one watched the show, no one talks on the young indy forums (of all the major indy forums, the young indy tables rarely get a conversation), no one goes to the good young indy website http://www.innermind.com/youngindy/

hopefully the DVDs will spark SOME interest
