Rank Flop in LC

In LC, at least once we hear Vogel reffered to as Oberst. However, being in the SS, he would not be an Oberst at all but a Standartenfuhrer. All though Oberst was often used by common people to describe any German colonel, regardless of branch, you'd think a Nazi like Donovan or even Elsa would know the difference. Oberst is used only in the Luftwaffe (airforce), and Wehrmacht (Army). The SS and SA share Standartenfuhrer as their Colonel rank. The Kriegsmarine(Navy) has no equivalent to Colonel.

this isn't entirely correct. there was no rank named just "oberst" but there were, for example, an obersturmführer, an obersturmbannführer (next to standartenführer, engl.: lieutenant colonel) and an oberführer (engl. senior colonel), ranks, that could and were inofficially shortened to "oberst". did it ever occur to you that he might have been oberst(-...) vogel, a rank that was "lost in translation"?

apart from that i'd very much think that donovan and elsa gave a crap for german ranks as they weren't in the military.

And even now, I'm pretty sure that there're people who support their troops despite knowing if major becomes before or after colonel or not.

Alright, I admit it isn't all that important. But I thought I could stir up some conversation here. And, Jay, there is a rank of Oberst as confirmed by many sites

not to be a nitpick, and also, Vogels Collar tabs show the rank of standartenfuhrer. Sorry if I made a "Who Cares" post but it is something that interested me. No flaming or sarcasm was meant in this post and I hope none of it offended anyone.
