    Disney eyeing Chris Pratt

The problem with Chris Pratt, as I see it, is that he's a comedian first and you always get this "Andy from Parks and Rec" feel from him that he's adorably stupid. A lovable oaf. I couldn't really take him seriously in Jurassic World partially for that reason. Honestly, when I saw Mad Max...

    Ancient aliens

I just came back to lay some flowers down at the gravesite of this thread. This was a fun thread, and deserves to be remembered. I actually plan on reading some Hancock and Von Daniken when I get the chance, now that I'm back in the States and can get a library card for books written in...

KOTCS vs. The Mummy, National Treasure and Lara Croft films?

Yup, I'd rather watch the first National Treasure or the first Mummy movie over KOTCS any day. Especially the first Mummy movie--I think it's rather underrated and is a legitimately good flick. I hesitate when it comes to Tomb Raider, though. No matter Jolie's attractiveness, Lara Croft is an...

    Red Letter Media on KotCS

You're merely sounding like a butthurt Star Wars prequel fan. There's enough self-deprecation in these videos to choke a dinosaur, and your accusations that they "have no respect for the medium" is baffling to me. But as you said, they are polarizing, particularly with the Star Wars prequels...

How do we know anything is true?

Very possibly not. However, this bad boy right here . . . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burckle_Crater . . . lines up nicely, chronologically (relatively speaking of course), with the Sumerian/Biblical Flood.

Games with heavy Indiana Jones influences

I've actually played a bit of Deadfall Adventures already, and I'm already liking it a lot more than "Tomb Raider." There's exploration, puzzles, and just an unapologetic level of pulpness to it that allows me to ignore the budget voice acting, plot, and dialogue thus far.

    Adventure Novel recommendations

Will Adams is alright--a little bland in his writing, but his material is at the very least more grounded than Clive Cussler's stuff. I think I've only read The Alexander Cipher, though I've possibly read The Exodus Quest but have entirely forgotten about it. Even though I'm not really...

Why does everyone hate Temple Of Doom?

As I've grown up, I've come to appreciate TOD more and more, to the extent that I might actually like it more than Last Crusade now. Temple of Doom is dark and terrifying, while Last Crusade, as good as it is, is the beginning of the unfortunate demystifying of the character of Indiana Jones...

    The Name of the Rose

Name of the Rose is one of my favorite novels of all time, and if you really want your mind messed with, Foucault's Pendulum (by Eco as well) is like the Da Vinci Code on anabolic steroids.

    Ancient aliens

Well, he does get a bit weird later on. I don't know what to think of his Nephilim stuff (never have really looked into Bible apocrypha that deeply), but I will say that, regarding the worldwide flood myths, this is an interesting feature to consider: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burckle_crater...

    Ancient aliens

I'm admittedly only 40 minutes in thus far--I'll have to let you you know what I think of it when I get to it. I actually hadn't heard of the new pyramid theory, and it is pretty intriguing.

    Ancient aliens

One of things I often wonder about is whether guys like Von Daniken and Tsoukalos are snake oil salesmen, insane, zealots, or some odd mix of the three. As said in the first portion of that video, Puma Punku is described on the History Channel as being made of granite and/or diorite and thus...

If the "box" is "logic and common sense," then goddamn right I'm a happy square in the "HEARD." :hat:

    Ancient aliens

Wow! Because they both have concentric circles, they must be related! Oh, look! I found this random image on Google Image search! Clearly the ancient Mesoamericans knew from their alien masters that someday some CEOs would be bored to death by physical data security policy graphs during...
