Movies I'm curious about...
Coming up expectations I have over some great films...
- 300 (d'uh !!) - Rescue Dawn: Korean War POW escape adventure with thunder-acting Christian Bale (aka Jim from Empire of the Sun) - Edmond (2005): psychological drama/ thriller with William Macy, kinda reminded me of 'Falling Down'. It hasn't ocme out yet here in Belgium, maybe it's on rental already I dunno... - The Exec: A Christopher Nolan film in the works. It's about corporate warfare, since business have become more powerfull than governments using private militia. Imagine 'hostile takeovers' with uzi's on the negotiation table. - A Scanner Darkly: Dark sci-fi thriller, edited with 2D coloring palette. In a similar yet b/w animated way, I'm curious about Renaissance. - The Fountain: Just for the beauty of cinematography. - Iraq in Fragments |
I haven't heard much about Renaissance. A Scanner Darkly is okay. I think they relied too much on the animation to carry the film just like Sin City; Sin City still turned out to be pretty good though. The Fountain is good except for all the crying in it. 300 is a cross between Sin City and Gladiator.

300 was awesome. Amazing CGI.
Rescue Dawn looks great, but you gotta give Bale creds for more than just Empire of the Sun. What about Batman!? The Fountain was bogus. Just go rent Zardoz. And I never saw A Scanner Darkly, but heard it was really cool if you watch it on drugs, which I don't do. |
Baron, Christian Bale is a great actor and I agree does deserve a lot of cred. The guy is a total chameleon, and disappears into every role:ie. Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, Harsh Times,The Machinist, The New World, The Prestige, and of course Batman.
Rescue Dawn 300(can't wait to see this, think I'm going today) POTC:At World's End even though the sequel I wasn't crazy about, the trailer for this peaked my interest, not gonna lie) The Bourne Ultimatum(I'm most looking forward to this) The Fountain(missed it in the theaters) Pan's Labrynth The Wind That Shakes The Barley(dir. Ken Loach) Hot Fuzz Halloween(even though I'm nervous about Rob Zombie taking the helm on this) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix(just watched these movies for the first time last year, and was surprisingly impressed) Pathfinder(I'm a big epic historical piece fan) |
Well seeing as how I'm a Harry Potter Freak (Books and Movies) I'm defo looking forward to OotP (Order of the Phoenix). That is by far my fav HP book, so I'm hoping they don't totally slaughter the film. I have a feeling it will be good.
Too I can't wait to see PotC 3 At World's End. I love those movies as well, and the ending to the last one just drove me crazy! I enjoyed that movie so much, that I hadn't even noticed that so much time had passed. Sounds stupid, but when the credits hit I was in shock. I kept thinking, "What? It's over?" But yes those are the two movies I can't wait for! :D |
Pan's Labyrinth for sure.
I'm gonna have to rent Children of Men tomorrow too. Movies I'm gonna see in theaters, probably multiple times: Spidey 3 PotC: At World's End The Bourne Ultimatum Indy 4 The Dark Knight Bond 22 |
The Dark Knight
Bond 22 Evil Dead 4 (maybe? hopefully?) Beowulf (just to see what Gaiman has done with the story) Snow and the Seven (this movies been in the making for what... three years now? It's written by Michael Chabon, who I love) The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay (Another Chabon adaptation. Awesometastic) Interstellar - (David Nolan and Steven Spielberg? Heck YES!) The Golden Compass (Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig - yumm) Invasion (Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig - yumm) Rescue Dawn (Christian Bale) 3:10 to Yuma (I hate remakes, and I can't stand Russell Crowe, but I'll give anything by Christian Bale one chance) Fanboys (Detroit Rock City meets Star Wars) Wall*E Ratatooe (I'm not gonna try to spell that sucker out) And I'm just gonna say Indy IV on the chance that it won't suck. |
Abe, since you mentioned the new all cgi Beowulf coming out, did you see Beowulf and Gendel that came out last year with Gerard Butler and Stellan Skarsgard? Also, I has heard of an Evil Dead remake by Raimi, not necessarily a 4th movie?
|
I wasn't aware of the other Beowulf movie... I'm primarily interested in that movie just because I'm a fan of Neil Gaiman's writing.
Oh, I know there will never be an ED4, it's just wishful thinking. |
I just got back from seeing TMNT (it wasn't that great  ) and I saw the preview for Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. That movie looks pretty good. Of course the preview didn't show much, but of course the effects were awesome.
So I'm looking forward to Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer for sure. :D |
The Bourne Ultimatum is my number one most anticipated film of the summer.
Second would be the Halloween remake since I'm a huge fan of the original and a early Carpenter fan. Though I'm very skeptical of Zombie's vision after not being impressed or even liking House of 100 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. I'll give him one thing though, his movies strike a chord, they make you want to take a shower after watching them they're so grungy and disturbing. Pathfinder, since I'm a big historical epic fan and I'm very interested in Viking and Celtic history and mythology. POTC: At Worlds End, I'm surprisingly excited to see this one after the so-so Dead Mans Chest. |
