I really like the Blister Pack. Awesome.

Nice find! :)

Dr. Indy Jones 09-18-2007 12:11 PM

Boy I can't wait till May!!

Nice find, oh when will May 22 be here?

:D

ChromiumBlue37 09-18-2007 12:18 PM

You beat me to it!!! LOL!

Wow - Hasbro stated that the packaging would not be revealed until Toy Fair 2008!

VERY nice design. Those warm colors will merge nicely with the existing and vintage packaging. The map background and emphasis on the bullwhip are just perfectly designed for Indy! LOVE it!

the designs are simply perfect...Indy has a pretty traditional color scheme and it is nice to see that it is honored here. Now, all we can hope for is that they are released in the 1st quarter of 2007....If that is the case, we should see carded examples very soon.

the_three_bears 09-18-2007 12:49 PM

Excellent.
I really like the box
I am so glad they did not just re-run the old Kenner packaging.
I will take a case of each!!! :D

Ah, but I hope that they do release a vintage like memorial line.....It works sooo well for Star wars and allows collectors to have truly stunning items.

ChromiumBlue37 09-18-2007 02:42 PM

Agreed! There are enough characters that Harbro could certainly pull off a "Vintage" line with definitive versions of the original characters. Can anyone make out the small text on the cardback and blister?

ResidentAlien 09-18-2007 03:16 PM

On the Blister it definitely says "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in that little bubble at the bottom.

ChromiumBlue37 09-18-2007 04:24 PM

Thanks! I was squinting really hard at the screen trying to figure that out. Now to see all of the new action figures and other merchandise that will adorn this packaging!

Wonder how long it will be until we at least get a rumor list of other action figures. I am getting so anxious!

sarah navarro 09-18-2007 06:55 PM

they look so nice, fancy and clean ,I like the colors .EEEEEEhhhh I cant wait any longer!

JimmyPSHayes 09-18-2007 10:11 PM

The packaging is GREAT!!! I love the colors and the whip across the front is a really nice touch. I spend WAY too much time in the toy aisles and this stuff will definitely stand out from the rest of the toys. A lot of action figures now have a black or dark colored blister card and the yellow and orange on these cards are gonna make them really catch a persons eye. VERY nice touch and I can't wait to get them!!

VP 09-19-2007 03:18 AM

Nice packaging, don't like the LC Indy tho.

There's alway a critic!:D

I love the packages! very colorful, fun and eyecatching!

Katarn07 09-19-2007 02:25 PM

They tried hard for it to be simple, but it turned out a bit flashy for my liking. SW lines with the best packaging are the vintage ones (Raiders toys have the same style) and actually even better, the Original Trilogy Collection from '04. How do you make a collector buy yet another repack of C-3P0? Here's how! I'd love the Indy toys to be something like that instead.

Actually, I don't care all that much. It's still lightyears ahead of the "Revenge of the Sith" line (yuck, what were they thinking?). I'll rip most of them open anyways. I stopped keeping every SW guy I got in its packaging 5 or 6 years ago....

Most aren't worth keeping in the pack. they made too many of them!

I like it. I think it looks great.

You have to understand that the packaging is much bigger now due to the fact that they give us more for our money and use the space to pose the figures in attractive positions....It's nothing but a positive thing......There is a place for the vintage style package in a retro line.. However, the new line should move forward in all ways.

to be honest, the old packaging did not work to save the line in the 80's and it would fail today as customers and retailer's expect much more. The Indy line from raiders was a rather big flop for several reasons.

I think the classic figures failed more to the fact that "Raiders" and all the Indy films have a more adult appeal than say Star Wars which is much more kid friendly. I for one agree the new packaging is wonderful.

Well, most people agree that the Raider's and TOD toy lines failed simply due to the fact that the Indy figure was too hard to find....they did NOT make him in greater supply than the rest of the figures. In some cases, he was shipped only one per case....so, as cases arrived, one collector would get an Indy and when no others could be found, the kids just passed up the other figures. If you can't have the main character, why would you want the other figures right?

One thing that could have saved the line a little and it is a SIMPLE move...they should have included a traditional Indy figure in the Well of the Souls playset.

Most parents would have bought the set and a few supporting figures....as it was, the playsets sat unsold with the supporting characters simply because there were no Indy figures to be found.

Man if I could go back in time I'd beg mom and dad for Indy toys! I was too caught up in the Star Wars toys to make time for Indy...what a shame. But to my defense it wasn't until I was in my teens that I discovered Indy. And found I liked Indy BETTER than SW!

You know.. star wars has a MUCH bigger pressence in my life than Indy just based on the number of items I have but the truth is that I too Like Indy better.

I was there for the Raiders toy craze...I was lucky enough to be able to order the 4 packs from jcPenny and Montgomery Ward so, I always had an Indy figure but I also had the carded figures too because at the time, My Dad was a manager for Wal-mart and The toy dept. lady hooked me up LOL!

I do remember going into other toy stores and seeing EVERYTHING but Indy himself.

The search for the 12" figure was one of the worst things you could put a kid through...UNTIL the LJN line came out for TOD....The Indiana Jones figure for that line was the 1st really rare toy I EVER remember...You could NOT find that figure anywhere with ease....To be honest, I have a greater feeling for that figure based on the fact that it took me FOREVER to find it. He truly is a GREAT figure and the accessories are PERFECT!

Now, we know that Indy will be VERY easy to find in some form..I hope there is always a traditional Indy on the shelves with this new series.. just like there is always a Vader and Luke for Star Wars.

If it is not that way and only the minor characters or Indy in his teaching gear hanging on the pegs, things could be repeated all over again.

I'd like to know what the hell kenner was thinking in the old days! What a bunch of dolts! I mean that's like making SW figures with limited Han or Lukes. I hope Hasbro has the good sense to realize that most folks want INDY. I think they know this and will have many Indy's. I can also see they may issue some rare bonus figures. they've done this with the SW line already.

Whoa... Get a load of that big skull in the middle of that homepage picture...

It's plastic counterpart's also on the LEGO Indy IV promopic:

Crystal skull design anyone? ;)

Cool find once again, Chrome! :)

ChromiumBlue37 10-12-2007 08:23 AM

Well, thank you, Sir! :D

This is just starting to get FUN! Hopefully it won't take long for the pace to really pick up and we get rumor listings for ation figures and news of other IJ merchandise!

That designer web page was really cool. The skull was prominent in the background. Almost inhuman. Anyone else notice the Fertility Idol incorporated into the design?

Yep, I saw it. I wonder what that creature left and right at the bottom is though...

Is it a boar?

OMG! THERE'S A BOAR IN INDY IV!

:p
Only joking... (It's very good for morale ;) )

No seriously, that packaging design is just perfect. I hope we'll see it soon and in great numbers in shops all over the globe.
It would be about time... Indy's been treated like Star Wars' less popular brother for far too long!

ChromiumBlue37 10-13-2007 04:24 PM

Well, there are going to be 30 basic carded action figures in 2008. :D Good thing we all approve of the packaging design!

Actually you can tell a lot about a movie from the planned merchandise. Somewhere I read the names of the 4 IJ & TKOTCS Lego sets. These are coming out in May of 2008. Maybe Indy will have to tackle a boar in the jungle.

:p

Anyway... For those who do care... (;) )

There's this rumor going around on a Dutch LEGO fansite about three new Indy LEGO sets to be released in May of 2008...
Here's what they'll be:

7625 river chase
7626 jungle cutter
7627 temple of Akator

You can even pre-order them on www.sailjo.nl...

To be quite honest, I think this thing reeks rather hoaxy...
I mean...
First of all, I don't know what the heck a 'jungle cutter' is. You?
And what (or who ) on God's green earth is Akator? Whatever it is, to my knowledge, it's got nothing to do with any Indy film...
And then finally, when exactly is Indy chased on a river?

Oh well, we'll see in 8 months ;)
Just thought I'd let y'all know.

ChromiumBlue37 10-13-2007 06:14 PM

:whip:

That would be it - exactly! Thank you!

Niteshade007 10-13-2007 08:29 PM

Wow...30 seems like an awful lot. But it's cool that we're getting that many. I guess I was wrong then on my guess that we would only get a couple from the other films.

I had noted that 30 would be a proper # of figures but remember, this includes the Indy 4 figures.

HOWEVER, Let's all be honest. Indy is NOT Star Wars.. we do not have the # of characters to allow for this line to be on the shelves for "YEARS TO COME" Unless Hasbro gets creative...Or Lucasfilm has more Indy goodness planned.. the Indy collection has a limited time to live it's life in. If done right, the Hasbro line could make it for 3 years. at the end of that 3 years we should have about everything possible that Hasbro could make.

Please understand that Hasbro Will not make the obscure background characters for Indy like they do for SW...A bunch of carded regular people are not interesting for kids to buy and Kids are still the target buyers.

JimmyPSHayes 10-14-2007 09:16 AM

Hopefully they'll expand the line at some point to include the Indy "EU". I would totally be up for some Indy comic book 2 packs like the Star Wars ones.

Shortie 10-14-2007 09:53 AM

I may pick up some of the Indy legos, maybe a SW one or too.

AMEN! I really think that there is a true possibility to this. The Comic 2 packs are HUGE sellers for Star Wars and in 2008 Gi Joe will be using the Comic 2 packs in their line...So, it would be nothing for hasbro to use those two examples and transfer it to Indy. Thankfully, Dark Horse and Hasbro already have a great relationship. Soooo The transition should be easy. I'm sure Dark Horse owns the rights to the old Marvel Indy comics too just as they do for Star Wars.

We could have a GREAT thread on which comics and characters Hasbro should produce.

metalinvader 10-15-2007 09:43 AM

There's been GI JOE comic packs for awhile now. They come with three figs though.

But man Indy comic packs would be a god send.It might be our only chance to get a Sophia Hapgood figure.

Sorry but the Gi joe comic packs are now going to be packed with 2 figures....You can look at the news from the Joe Convention to see what hasbro has planned.

All new sculpt figures will come in packs of 2,.....the same will be for Indy.

Gi Joe also has a new Mail order figure for 2008 ( DOC) Here is hoping that Indy does too

ChromiumBlue37 10-15-2007 01:54 PM

I have a really good feeling about Hasbro's ability to deliver.
If excecuted correctly, the entire Indiana Jones line can thrive into 2010. We would still get all of the main charaters, plus some cool extra, not to mention a few beasts and vehicles and some "Expanded Universe goodness".

The Temple of Doom characters will be such a welcome addition! :whip:

AMEN on the TOD!!

If we do not get playsets, Hasbro will be doing the kline a major harm. Indy toys SCREAM playsets.

If they get into Young Indy, we will see a full line into 2010-2012 I would loveto see a Mystery of the blues indy!!

ChromiumBlue37 10-16-2007 09:33 AM

With the current Star Wars line Hasbro states that playsets are not in demand anymore.

In my mind, it just doesn't make sense is to have action figures with absolutely no environment for them to be in. For kids a playset gives play value and for adults/collectors a playset offers a display environment.

As a boy in the early 80's, I had all of the original action figures, the Arabian Horse and the Streets of Cairo playset. Thinking back, I can remember spending hours with those toys. After 25 years of looking at the photo of it on the figure cardbacks, I finally acquired my Well of Souls playset. It was so much fun setting it up with my figures.

I do not get Hasbro's constant push that Playsets do not sell well.

Small modualr playsets like the Indy Vintage line would be a GREAT product....If we do not get at least ONE major playset for Indy next year, the line will havea HUGE black Hole in it.

Unless you grew up playing with the Indy playsets, you just can't understand how much they are needed.

ChromiumBlue37 10-16-2007 11:38 AM

That's exactly the point! Without playsets, the line would be empty!

As kids in the 70's and 80's, Kenner really spoiled us with the 3 and 3/4 line. We had action figures, vehicles, beasts and playsets. We had everything needed to enjoy our own little Star Wars and Indy universes.

If anything, Hasbro really should give us at least one playset from each flick.
The Temple of Doom is an absolute NO-BRAINER as a playset. Kali Ma could easily be scaled as a 12 inch figure sized "statue". The arms sculpted to hold the decaptiated head, schimtar and the two outstretched hands holding the skulls with "chains" to the sacrificial cage. Of course the cage can open to hold one action figure. At the base of the statue is the large skull shrine with 3 removable Sankara Stones. Below that would be a secret trap door that can open to help Mola Ram escape.
