No Whip sound effect!?!?!?! Wow.....
"Tom Selleck is busy"... Now -THAT- was funny! |
Thanks for clearing that up, Resident. Fan Film is a misnomer, but we're going to use it anyway.
|
"Fan Film is a misnomer"
Only to the pedantic.... |
great job eric thats one of the best I've ever seen:up:
|
Thanks, you guys. I know some of you don't like mixing Star Wars and Indy, but I hope you like this fan film anyway.
|
Thanks, I enjoyed that. I like how you never see Indy's head for the first couple of minutes in and then the camera finally pans up: "That idiot stole my hat...".
Nice music/sound editing, and I like how some of the scenes were shot... but I think they could have been edited down a bit to improve pacing, but then again, its not like I'm a 'film' student or anything so I don't know what I'm talking about... ...the "Beastly Man" was a nice touch. |
Quote:
You might, but we aren't. And I'll be sure to correct you when you do. |
Quote:
Cut these guys a break, ResidentAlien. I'm a film student too, but I don't go round correcting people. Besides, there are big budget movies out there that claim they're films, when they were really shot in HD (like the Star Wars prequels). And if you really want to get technical, I would just like to point out there are only two cinemas in the world that use digital projection. Every other cinema had digital movies telecined in reverse to film and technically can be called a film because a film projector is used for viewing in the cinema. But, like you I wouldn't call it a film, but that's really a matter of perspective. And I have shot on film so I do understand and know the difference quite well. Especially the expense. |

Yes, of course, there's digital intermediary... which isn't involved here. It's digital through and through. I have a right to be stubborn. As I said myself, it is in fact nitpicking, but when you see the whole thing collapsing around your ears and then you have this sort of glib ignorance that exacerbates the problem, well it tends to be annoying. Hell, the film department here at school is starting to do away with film! They just stopped doing the 16mm intro course and turned it into a video course with such memorable projects as talking head interviews. Is it nitpicking? Sure--but better that than allow ignorance on the issue perpetuate. I love shooting on film (aside from that expense as you mentioned  ). Any rate, my initial point of complaint stands--we needn't be bombarded with six different topics about this video. |
Are there ANY fan videos in the Fan Film Theater that are actually films? Even the early ones from the '80s are done on videotape right?
|
Quote:
Most likely. |

I found one on Youtube from the 80s that was shot on Super 8mm. Too bad about the sound though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rz5GTnRFnA @ResidentAlien: How can you film school be called a film school then? I did two semesters of 16mm and Super 16mm courses and Australian film schools are supposed to suck. It's our film school's pride in claiming to be one of the few that keeps the film production courses. I've even had the pleasure of editing on a Steenbeck. But, the industry itself rarely uses film now. If anyone here knows anything about the industry here, they'd tell you that it's low budget, very small and completely in the digital realm. |

We switched to digital editing about 5 years ago I think. There are still upper level film courses but the intro courses are gone which is disgusting. I got in at the very last semester for them so I lucked out. I'll be taking another 16mm production course probably next semester (if I can afford it...). |
I've got the luck to shot two short films in 16mm too. It was 5 years ago, when I studied in Buenos Aires. It's over now. With the new technology it's almost against logic to film in the old (and expensive) way in school. Argentina, with all its fascinating paradoxes, is a 3rd world country after all.
I too like the romanticism of film, it looks great when its well done. But I give more importance to the conceptual and narrative side of filmmaking... and you can see greatness in some simple handycam shots. Would you prefer it doesn't exist because it isn't supported in the best possible format? I am grateful to have experienced the last days of the old school in combination with the born of the digital era. I know where we come from and can see where we are going... Resident Alien, it's not so bad ;) You can put toghether the best things from 100 years of film history, and of course they are a lot more than what you can pick from the present... because present, as a mental construction, can't go to far away till it becomes territory of the Past. I'm totally off topic now :p |
Great use of the music to highlight your scenes! It definitely has the Jones flavor!
|
Thank you all! We worked so hard.
|
A Clip from my Film...
|
How many times, and in how many variations, are you going to post this? We get it... you made a corny low-budget VIDEO. Do you need a thousand topics saying this?
|
You have always been a jerk to me. Spielberg would never say something like that to an aspiring artist. How condescending.
|
And yet you still post the same topic time and again.
I make films too. It's a passion of mine. I don't go around whoring my work. If people want to see it, they will. You've too much pride. Not everyone sees you as some auteur in the making. Let it come to you. |
I thought it was decent. I haven't watched your other vids, but I will try to do so tomorrow. So, I don't know what ResidentAlien means. I hope to disagree with him though. I don't think anyone with an Indy passion can whore their work around... I could be wrong.
|
In which Indy movie does he fight Osama Bin Laden?
That villain is terrifying! Especially at the beginning, running through the woods like an escaped lunatic! Ten out of ten for dedication. :D |
it wpu;dnt play
|
I liked your sketch of SSJ2 Gohan... that was pretty good! My internet is messing up so I'm having a hard time loading videos, so I'll have to watch your Indy film later.
|
Wow, thanks guys. My only purpose in making movies is with the hopes of entertaining people and possibly brightening their day! I appreciate the compliments!

Let's see some of your work, Mr. FILM School. Have you uploaded it somewhere or would that be beneath you? Good job , BigDaddy! |

It's online. A few are on myspace which I've linked to before. If you find it, feel free to watch 'em. I don't advertise. If the subject matter is interesting to people, they'll find 'em. That's what tags are for. |
Thanks for everyone's support! I'm not looking for trouble.

I don't think your accounting for laziness. I'd like to see them, but I don't want to search for the links to them. haha. |
Quote:
I am accounting for laziness. If you aren't willing to search, they can't mean that much to you. And that's fine. I make my films for me. I'm a firm believer in art as a means of purging. I create for my own well being. If they touch others aside from me, great! If not, so be it. |
Quote:
How can they mean anything to me if I haven't seen them? lol. I think you underestimate my lazyness. I get where your coming from and all... but to not link to it when people request to check it out because you don't want to "advertise" and basically saying, go look it up yourself, is kind of dumb. |
Check your PM.
|
Could you PM me your film? I would like to see it!
|
Actually I just found your YouTube profile. It's just your username on Raider.net right? So those are your films? I didn't really get them so to speak, but I wouldn't want to make fun of a film like "[censored]".
??????? |
Quote:
No, that's not my profile. But nice try. |
Good, I'm ACTUALLY glad. Same name though, weird.
I still want to see your film though. |
Wow... this thread is old. I was just looking for my favourite reviewer's films. I didn't realise he was once a member! That's cool. Too bad the film was removed from YouTube though I never got to see it. :(
