Comic Covers that Scream Indiana Jones but he's no where to be found.
 

Everytime I see these 2 covers I just think Indiana Jones.
This one could almost be a What If Hitler actually got his hands on the Ark and could control its power, or some other Occult artifact like Pandora's box.


And come on! All you need to do is put a Fedora on the guy's head and replace the spear with a whip and you've got yourself a classic Indiana Jones image.

I'd say most of the Doc Savage pulps qualify, though this may be cheating as they did certainly play a part in the creation of Indy himself.

But I really like your covers. I wish I'd lived in the 30s and 40s--it seems like that was the best time for comics.

I'm blinded by the pulpiness of it all!

Here in Italy we've got a whole series of comics that really recalls the ambience and the moods of Indiana Jones movies.

The first issue was released in 1982 and it is published today, every 2 months. Somentimes (especially lately) it is more sci-fi oriented than Indy, but it is really worthy, even because usually the plot it is based on real mysteries...

Damsels in distress, bondage, masks, uniforms. Ain't pulp wonderful? ;)

There were some Weird War Tales and their like from Marvel and DC in the 1970s into which Indiana Jones could step without any trouble. Undead Nazis, strange machines, robotic gorillas...
