Brave
Well it looks like Pixar the legendary offspring of George Lucas (which somehow fell into the hands of Disney) is forever going strong and that's a good thing for those of us who enjoy their adorable hits such as Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Toy Story and of course Bolt.
The offerings are looking good for 2010 and 2011 as we have a line up which consist of The Bear and The Bow, Up, Newt, Toy Story 3, Up and Cars 2. The next film that I’m very excited about is Disney/Pixar’s The Bear and the Bow which follows the life of young fiery, tangled haired young lady named Merida who from the concept art looks as if she is between being a young adult and a teenager. The Bear and The Bow will be Pixar’s first fairy tale and is developed by Brenda Chapman creator of The Prince of Egypt. Chapman says the story was developed from out of admiration for the works of Hans Christian Anderson and The Brothers Grim. She combined her admiration of Borthers Grimm and H.C. Anderson with her love for her daughter and hence the story -plot for The Bear and the Bow. Princess Merida has an admiration for archery, so strong is her passion for archery that she’d rather turn her back on her royal life and embrace the path of the warrior. Merida makes reckless choices that result in the destruction of her father’s kingdom and the endangerment of her mother’s life. Our young heroine sees the error of her ways and set’s out to undo the damage she has caused. The film stars big names including Reese Witherspoon and Julie Walters. |
Heard about this awhile back. Defintly should be interesting.

I agree. It is my personal hope that Disney/Pixar will turn The Bear and Bow into an online MMORPG similar to that of World of Warcraft or Ankama Games Wakfu. I know that is a far flung hope, yet because of their highly successful Pirates of the Caribbean online I think there might be a chance of my wish becoming a reality.

I love Pixar and I'm looking forward to this too.
One minor correction, though. Quote:
|
Thanks for the correction Junior Jones.
|
Ha I was gonna point out the same correction. I did not see Bolt, but tying shameless mockeries like Meet the Robinsons and Chicken Little to the genius that is Pixar is just highly unfair.
Anyway, Up is the next one and I'm really excited. Is there a Pixar movie that isn't completely original and awesome? I think not. |
I did not like Meet The Robinsons either, yet I do like Chicken Little. I hope there will be a sequel to Chicken Little in the future.
I wonder if The Bear and the Bow will get video games on the PSP, Nintendo DSi and iPod Touch? I can rest assured that I'll buy all three games it they are released to all three systems. Does anyone know if there is a Chicken Little game on the PSP system? |
I see its been a while since this has been updated. For those who havn't been keeping up, the film is now simply titled Brave, Mark Andrews has taken over directing duties for Brenda Chapman (although she is still credited as co-director), and the lead character is now being voiced by Kelly MacDonald (Boardwalk Empire) instead of Reese Witherspoon.

I've noticed that Disney/ Pixar give news coverage to Cars 2 and Monsters Inc University but hardly anything is being made known regarding 'Brave'.
|
I'm psyched for this. Pixar doing a fairy tale? Cheese and crackers, sign me up.

A movie like this does not need to be made into an MMO. The movie looks intresting, though. |

Neat. I hope this evokes a nice mix of Grimm with classic Disney. If this turns out even half as great as Tangled was, I'll be ridiculously happy.

Teaser poster...

Man, that poster is great. Looks so beautiful! Man, this movie sounds like it might be just as dark, or even darker, as The Incredibles. Everything I've heard so far looks phenomenal.
Cars 2 is coming out, and while I'm not expecting much, I hope I'll enjoy it. Shame Pixar's perfect RT is damaged, but I still have hopes! |
Character images...
http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article...s-pixars-brave Looks like we can expect a lot more material and news in the next couple of weeks... |
How is it that the same poster would post a whole new thread on the same topic?
Anyway, hopefully this will fare better than Cars 2. I don't know how a Grimm tradition fairy tale will go over. |

Oops! I'm sorry guys. I had totally forgotten that I'd made thread. Indeed, I had almost forgotten that Pixar was still working on Brave until this week. I've been very busy guys so please be patient with me. I'm going through of stress. Please keep my family and I in your prayers. |
Alas! There was no trailer attached to my screening or anyone else's that I know for Cars 2!
|
Not good quality at all, but this may tide some people over till we get an official HD release:
|
@TheMutt92, that is the BEST trailer I've seen since the teaser for DreamWorks 'How To Train Your Dragon' and Disney's 'Tangled'.
Out of all the Pixar movies that I've seen it looks as if Brave is going to best of the best. The movie poster and the trailer are powerful beyond words. I seriously hope the tie-in video games will be as good as the movie. Does anyone think that Brave could or might become an ongoing saga for Pixar like How To Train Your Dragon and Shrek? |
Quote:
There's something about this trailer, its dark and mysterious... more adult... I'm excited :D And considering the outrage people are having the Pixar has sequelfied on us, I hope (and doubt) this will be a franchise. |
HD Trailer

10 year olds arent allowed here without the permission from mommy and daddy. How old are you?
|
Well, now that I've seen that better quality trailer I've got to say I'm really excited about the movie more than ever. It's looks wonderful. The ambience of the film is like Dragon Nest meets How To Train Your Dragon meets Harry Potter.
|
Seen this? Yeah, neither did I. Seems like the first full-length trailer for Brave was released with little fanfare on the 'net a couple of months ago.
Dig it. |
Disney has released the latest poster for Brave featuring their ginger maned heroine, Merida!
Clink on the image for the full-sized image! ![]() Disney-Pixar also released an extended scene from the flick a couple of days back. Check out the level of detail in the character models and effects, especially towards the end of the scene. The official site has been updated with a short synopsis and a handful of character biographies. Proceed with caution as always if you're trying to avoid any possible spoilers. Is anybody else slightly put off by the amount of humor that's dominated the advertising since the original teaser was released? I'll wait to reserve final judgement, but it's not what I was looking for from Pixar this time around. |

This is nothing new. Kids films always have trailers that emphasize the humor, esxpeically the more juvenile jokes, to try and lure kiddies in. But for those of us who know Pixar, the films themselves tend to be unbelievably great, so I'm not worried. |
Four new character posters were released via Entertainment Weekly this past week. You'll have to click through several pages since site runners love page hits.

Wow, I never thought PIXAR woudl ever have made such a horrible movie. On the raod and wanted to catch up on missed movies so I purchased this - Man that was bad. Didn't they do this already with Brothr Bear? ugh.
|
Marketing movie, this one is. Marketing. Though I do think it ranks above Cars2.
But, yes, it was a very tired story. And they didn't hide it very well. |
I have to admire Cars 2 for what it was - a mad grab for cash and a platfrom to promote Cars Land (Pale have you heard of this?)
What was Brave marketing for? The Ginger audience? Hell the largest Sperm bank in the world won't even take donations from gingers as nobody wants them. What next, target the highly lucrative Albino audience? |
