Sweet! Any info on the creative team or summary?

Here's the back cover to next month's FCBD 2009 book and there's an Indy!

http://www.freecomicbookday.com/comic.asp?ID=10

I heard the writer of the next "Adventures Vol. 2" wrote the "Indy" story in the issue as well.
Wonder if it's a stand alone story or a prologue to Volume 2.
Only a few more weeks to find out!

Free Indy? :D :D :D

indyclone25 04-10-2009 02:17 PM

well it will be a short story but a story nonetheless

yodazone 04-16-2009 01:02 PM

Looks like the Free Comic Book day issue has been released early in the U.K.!

Here're the "Indy" credits for the issue from a fellow fan who picked up a copy:

--------------------------------------------------------------
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Yearning (6 pages)

"the story features Indiana Jones and his sidekick Bhakdi..."

story: Mark Evanier
art: Ethen Beavers
colors: Ronda Pattison
letters: Michael Heisler
---------------------------------------------------------------
UK fans, check your local shops!

AWESOME!:D:up: This is FANTASTIC NEWS and I just have to say how indebted I am to yourself and Raider.net Master Gilles. If it weren't for you guys, this would have slipped right through my fingers.

So how exactly does this "Free Comic Book Day" work? Do comic books stores have a limited stack to give out on a first-come-first-serve basis for 1 day only? Am I going to have to call my local store back home and try to reserve one? (The one in town here doesn't deal with English comics. It's all Bandes-Dessinés.:()

@DIrish: Another title for the timeline! (Great title, too!)

I've posted the first page over at www.throwmetheidol.com

Stoo - it is supposed to be free (no purchase required) at participating comic shops... every shop has different rules as to how they give them out.

Stoo 04-16-2009 01:54 PM

Thanks, Les! You rock. That looks really, really good. Guess I'm going to have to make a call to Capitaine Quebec. (Are you familiar with this store? Montreal's top comic shop for 30+ years.)

Wow, that's some great art. Thanks for posting that page, ThrowmetheIdol!

Yea Stoo, some comic shops will give them away for free on first Saturday of May (the weekend the Wolverine movie opens). Here's the FCBD shop locator to find one near your area:

http://www.freecomicbookday.com/faqs.asp

If your shop sells out early, they all end up on ebay from other sellers anyway. Some copies are slowly started to appear there now.

I know I need to get 2 copies for me for those flip covers...

For those of you in Canada, I take it Chapters doesn't carry the Free Comic Book Day comic does it? We only have 1 comic book store here in Kelowna (that I know of) and I don't know if they'll carry it or not. Gonna have to check it out one of these days.

Nurhachi1991 04-16-2009 04:41 PM

Looks great! I just don't see why we need another damn Star Wars cover ):

But the Indy story looks great I can't wait.

Sweetness!

Stoo, Free Comic Book Day is a little annual event the comics industry has had for a few years now. Pretty nifty...

Indeed. Its about time I make some updates. I guess I'll hold off till May or June so I can firmly place the upcoming YA Indy novels and the Staff of Kings video game.

Just found out my local comic shop isn't doing the FCBD thing this year, so looks like I'll have to pick this up on Ebay. :(

I'm gonna try a few other comic shops in the next town over on FCBD (which is this Saturday I believe) to see if I can snag at least one copy of this. I'll also try to pick up some extras for fellow Raveners, but I'll post if I can get some extra copies.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Yearning

So, the flipside of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Free Comic Book Day comic has an Indiana Jones comic as well as a few others. It's in the adventures style and is six pages long. Haven't read it yet but I thought I would make a thread about. :D

I guess I'm the only one that didn't know this was going to be in the free Star Wars comic? I guess I need to pay more attention...lol

yodazone 04-22-2009 07:19 PM

yea, I went to my comic shop and the owner received 200 copies early but is waiting until next week to give them out. A bunch of stores already got theirs early.

Hey, lightsyder, yodazone posted the cover and a link to the 1st page in the thread below (since it's by the same team) so we've been talking about it there. I'm really stoked for this!

Indy Adventures Vol. 2

Sometimes threads get merged. I wonder if any ever get split?

I just wrote a review for our website. Here it is:

Dark Horse Free Comic Book Day Comic:
-This is the BEST kind of FCBD comic that there is! You get a sampling of 4 of Dark Horse's titles, not just "here's what we think you'll like". First off is Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I give this story a HUGE thumbs up! The story focuses on Kit Fisto and the clones. Great story, great art. A WINNER!!! Next up is Usagi Yojimbo. I've NEVER read Usagi before, and after this, I just might. Short but good story, again, thumbs up. Next is the bad news. I litterally COULD NOT read Emily the Strange. This book is not intended for me, and I'm not intended for it. After that we come to Larry Marder's Beanworld. Again, I don't want to speak bad about a comic that a company is giving you for FREE, so once more, not my cup of tea. Finally, we come to the reason that I wanted to review this book: INDIANA JONES & the Temple of Yearning by Mark Evanier & Ethen Beavers(the creators of the upcoming Iniana Jones Adventures Vol 2, out September 23rd!) . BOTH of my thumbs are SO HIGH UP IN THE AIR they might get caught in a airplane's propeller. In just 6 short pages, both creators are able to pack a GREAT Indiana Jones story with action, humor and heart. The ONLY problem that I had was that Indy didn't get a chance to use his trademark bullwhip. But still, my favorite FCBD story by far!!!

Overall 9 Grahams

Grahams is what we use for "stars". 10 is the highest rating you can get. I REALLY enjoyed the story. Can't wait for more.

indyclone25 05-01-2009 03:50 PM

i can't wait to read this story --- even if its only six pages ... i'm just glad to have another indy story to tide me over
