Yes, we've had quite a bit of snow on and off, but it's only about an inch thick now. It turned sleety earlier today, which helped to get rid of some of what had already fallen. We have an outside temperature gauge, which is sheltered somewhat by being in the open wood store, which went down to -8.4C a couple of nights ago. Our hot water pipes were frozen until midday following. I heard that around 30-40 miles west it went down to -18C. For a lot of members around the world this is probably just a walk in the park, but for us Brits it's like the end of the world! |

It's all relative ;) Those in locations used to snow probably don't give it a second thought. But as you said, give us a sprinkling and it's the snow-pocalypse ! |
Tell me about it! About 2 years ago (4th Feb. 2009), I was stuck in Scotland the day I was meant to fly out because of the worst snowstorm they'd had in 18 years! A couple of inches of snow paralyzed most of the southeastern U.K.! Waited in the airport for 10 hrs. before being told the flight was cancelled and had to stay an extra few days. The radio & TV were reporting schools closed, buses routes not running in London, etc. all due to a mere SPRINKLING of snow.
Pussies!:p:whip: It's still a crying shame that the original Indy got lost but I like what you wrote about him having to burn the diary to stay warm.:D Nice photos, Inky, especially this one: Quote:

The awesome factor just increased. :D

Nice pictures inky. Very nice. Glad to see that Indy is a bit more user friendly! If you're still taking applications, I would like to have Indy visit again. |
No updates in a month. What's the status?

Busy working at finding a new job. This project will be getting an update towards the end of January. |

Sorry to hear you're not settled yet, so good luck on that front, inky. Don't worry about mini-Indy, I'm sure he doesn't mind waiting for his next trip. Just sort out the important stuff first! :hat: |

Good luck in the job hunt, guv'na.:hat: |
Happy Day
YES! Stopped in to get my mail and what do I see? Indy's back!
I can't tell you how psyched I am! What a load off! I offered a reward to anyone in the mail room to find him and posted the return address...and the package was found. A bit bruised and battered but he's all here. "SIGH" Where shall I send him? |
Holy Smokes!
I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!! WOW! What FANTASTIC news!!!!!
How much was the reward, Rocket? Nice going on your part. Hats off.:hat: This was how the remainder of the U.S. leg was scheduled before Indy took a trip into The Twilight Zone: 11 - USA: Orlando (theinterchange) 12 - USA: Indianapolis (bonoferox) 13 - USA: Culver City (Lance Quazar) 14 - USA: LA / SoCal (Pale Horse) 15 - USA: San Francisco (NickTurner) 16 - USA: San Francisco (InexorableTash) 17 - USA: San Francisco / New Orleans (Le Saboteur) |

I would cringe everytime this damned thread would pop up, I had to try something! At first it was lunch for the mailroom, (pizza or something) but it didn't yield. So when I thought it looked hopeless, (the mail room is a pit!) I upped it to $50 for the individual who found it. Took a month after that.:hat: I'll be glad when it's over and property of another custodian. |
The $50 reward is very noble of you, Rocket. I'm wondering if the package was sent & returned or if it ever left the mail room at all. It's been almost 6 months!
Inky Skin is going to be THRILLED! As for: 11 - USA: Orlando (theinterchange) It was decided to scratch him off the list since he didn't seem to be reliable due to the fact that he has only posted at The Raven 2 times and his failure to get in contact with you so Bonoferox in Indianapolis is probably next. Inky (or Lance) will have the final say on that. |

I agree with one of your earlier posts regarding regular posters here...while nothing is guaranteed, it would be wise. Harvey wanted in and is still around!:) Laird has been Globe Trotting as of late... |

True. Memphis is awaiting the return of the great adventurer. :whip: Antarctica would have been sweet. |

Maybe Mini-Indy could give me a hand editing the read-along adventure! |

Amazing and unexpected news! So the post office were holding Indy ransom? |
Note to self:
When Indy does make it to L.A....say he never got here and hold onto him until R.S. and the fellow Raveners pony up a profit.
Let's see...Disney's (Temple of the Forbidden Eye) for a two-day pass is $99.00, plus parking @ $14.00, plus food, lodging, gas, and the requisite souvenirs ... Starting Ransom will be about $350.00.... :whip: :p |
Hysterical, Mr. Horse! I was thinking along the same lines.:D
Anyway, I just PMed Inky to tell him Rocket's good news. Hopefully, he chime in soon enough. Can't wait to hear what he has to say... Where's Lance? |
Inky is back and in full executive control of the project.
This is outstanding news! Thanks, Rocket! Can't wait to see his next adventures! |
I'm glad Indy was found! Poor guy's been holed up in that box for ages.

Maybe he was just in hiding until the anger over KOTCS had subsided a bit. |
Well I'll be damned. Indy is like a bad penny - he always turns up. Rocket- many thanks for your efforts - please PM me your address as I have something for you by way of thanks.
I'll be honest - this is just the lift I needed. I'll review the existing list of participants and do a little 'project management' this weekend. Let's get the boulder rolling again folks :whip: |
Indy, no matter what, always seems to make it out of those crazy situations. I bet he was still wearing his fedora, too. ;)
Great news! |
I am so glad he is not dead!
|
Awesome news! I hadn't checked the thread in a while, mainly because it just bummed me out. So glad to hear our intrepid adventurer has been found!
|
I still would love to be a part of this, if possible.
|
I know I already got to spend quality time with Indy in Afghanistan, but my offer still stands to sponsor him here in San Antonio. Would be a good excuse to re-visit the Alamo, Riverwalk, and various Spanish missions in the area.
|
Most excellent news! (Well news to me. Haven't checked this one in a while. I know 10 days in web land is an eeeeeeternity!)
Still looking forward to having Indy visit San Francisco, taking in Oakland and the East Bay! (Maybe Mount Diablo would be a good stand-in for the famous logo!:D ) Just one caveat - my daughter is getting married April 7 so between work and wedding prep, not forgetting model projects and beer brewing, it will have to be after all that. Shouldn't be a problem, but I can't be the first taker. Rocket, the search for an initial host of the second coming, er, too grand that! - The Indy World Tour Mark II, continues! |
Ok chaps...
I'm keen to get Indy on the road again as soon as possible, but starting a new job etc has prevented me from giving this project as much attention as it deserves. What I propose is that Rocket sends Indy on to Lance and we sort out the other slots at a later date. My rationale is as follows - Lance and I are good friends and I trust him to take care of Indy and do something creative with him in the short term, plus it allows Rocket to get shot of what seems to be a bad luck talisman ASAP and keep the momentum going. Provided Lance agrees, I'll contact Rocket with a forwarding address in the next couple of days. Onwards ! |
ok!

Thanks for stepping into the breach Lance. You ok to liaise directly with Rocket ? |

Congrats!! |
@Rocket / Lance - have you guys been in touch with each other ? Where is Indy at ?
|

Lance sent me everything I need. He leaves today, pictures later.:hat: |
The San Francisco contingent is ready, eager and waiting! And we're having decent weather so far this year, so get here soon, Indy!
(FWIW, I'll likely be visiting Boston, Yosimite, Vancouver, Calgary/Drumheller and Anaheim this summer, so Indy might have a chance to tag along on at least one leg.) |
Quote:
Great news Rocket - let me know if you want me to spot you some extra cash to send him tracked... |

Along with the ransom note from the post office! |
Right chaps - what's the status of Indy ? I'm assuming he has dispatched - has he arrived ? Updates please !

Well, I've heard from Lance - no dice. Rocket - should I be concerned ? Not getting any communication from your camp...

Hard to believe that this project started 11 & 1/2 months ago! In the meantime, here's another leftover (outtake) photo: The brand new interchange of Avenue des Pins & Avenue du Parc (Pine & Park) with the McGill Athletic building on the extreme left behind Indy. ![]() |

I'm no prude - and I'm sure Dr Jones isn't either, but I know there are younger folks on the board. |
man i got to meet him;)
|
Right - hate to be a whiner - but if anyone knows Rocket outside of The Raven, can you please tell him to contact me. It's been several months since Indy's miracle return - and little/no communication. I realise we all have lives to lead, but it doesn't take that long to simply send an item of mail
|
@Inky: "Miracle return", indeed! I sent an e-mail to Rocket and gave him a friendly whip to his tuchus*.:whip:
