You sound like Dr. Evil. That and the intriguingly aged photo complete with suspicious stains bodes very well!

Well, I looked everywhere to support my guess to no avail...I even resorted to math!

Club 33?

Great to see he made it to his next stop!

Was hoping for more from Lance, but his posts were a nice change of pace/style.

Cheers...:hat:

Lance Quazar 10-06-2011 04:37 PM

Whoo hoo!!

Terrific picture, Pale Horse! Can't wait to see hear all about Indy's secret rendezvous.

p.s. - there are PLENTY more pics from me. Indy and I were working in the processing lab the moment up to his departure, so stay tuned!

Pale, your regular posts are cryptic enough! Now your going to twist our brains with tests & riddles?

One suggestion, if I may. It would be cool if Pale Horse waited to post his photos until after Lance's are done. Otherwise, it would sort of spoil the great, linear narrative we have going.

What do you say, guys? Yes? No?

Lance Quazar 10-06-2011 05:29 PM

I have so many damn pictures still in the editing phase that I don't want to "hold the Horse", if you'll pardon the expression.

And I promise to get at least another set or two up before Pale Horse can possibly complete his. I've been working a bunch the past couple days.

Don't think there will be much issue with the narrative. Pale Horse is sending Indy back to me for a very brief return before I pass him on.

There are one or two LARGE Los Angeles landmarks that Indy has not yet visited.

But don't worry, all SIGNS point to only very short return. But it's something I really 'WOOD like to do.

inky_skin 10-06-2011 05:37 PM

Just wanted to chime in and say a MASSIVE thank-you to all participants so far. You've taken a simple idea and made it richer and more exciting than I could ever have hoped. Long may Indy circle the globe :whip:

Lance Quazar 10-06-2011 06:06 PM

Unfortunately, due to a photobucket glitch (and the Raven's maddeningly inconsistent ability to "edit" posts), the original "splash page" for Indy's SDCC adventure got lost.

There's no real good place to repost it, but since I do want it in the official record, I'm just gonna put it here....

That's good news, Lance. Things should work out perfectly for a smooth narrative, then.:)

The Hollywood sign! Are you going to take him to the Chinese & Egyptian theatres? How 'bout the Capitol Records building? Indy is probably a fan of Miles Davis who was on their label.

By the way, your 'word balloons' are an excellent idea. Wish I had done that with my photos!:(

I went to the Getty Museum a year after it opened. Pretty slick place. Too bad you didn't put Indy in the photo with the stained glass window.

A-ha, I see it now. So Indy has already been to Grauman's/Mann's. Keep 'em coming, Lance!

Indeed. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to particpate rather than just be a spectator. Lance Quazar's 'word balloons' are a great idea and Pale Horse's teaser looks extremely promising. Special credit must be given to Le Saboteur for promptly forwarding the figure from me to Billy Ray in order to catch his unique chance of Afghanistan locales in time and especially to Rocket Surgeon for dishing out $50 from his own pocket to rescue Indy from the nether regions of his local post office. Of course, it was your idea to begin with so you deserve the biggest 'thumbs up', Inky Skin. A true team effort!

This is kind of like 'Indiana Jones Meets Phileas Fogg' except that it's taking Indy much longer than 80 days. As of today, it's been 510 days! (06 May, 2010 - 07 October 2011) Anyone feel like calculating how many miles/kilometres?

Inky, will you be updating the map anytime soon?

Montana Smith 10-07-2011 11:23 PM

Great pictures, Lance. And educational, too!

Stoo 10-09-2011 05:40 PM

It would be cool to get a shot of Mini-Indy looking at Harrison Ford's star in the pavement of Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

With a caption saying, "Harrison who?"

Lance, my good man, "Sesame Street" is supposed to be based in a borough of New York City, not the greater Los Angeles area!;)

While we wait for more of Indy's travelogue, here's a trippy tribute to the #10, which (at the current rate) will probably be the number of years it takes for Mini-Indy to circumnavigate the globe:

Lance has certainly set the bar...here in L.A.

This short trip might provoke some fun though...stay tuned

NickTurner 10-10-2011 03:27 PM

Great post Lance!

Is it my imagination, or does the 'Greatest Lover' Oscar sport an appropriate appendage?:D

inky_skin 10-11-2011 07:46 AM

@Lance - Way to go out on a high ! If I believed in voodoo, I could almost imagine a bit of Ford's DNA transferring from those hand prints and imbuing our little mass-produced Hasbro buddy with some real Indy magic ;)

@Pale Horse - That's a helluva teaser. I'm a huge Disney-phile, so seeing Travelling Indy on such hallowed ground is a real thrill for me. Until I can get there myself, I'll have to live vicariously through him. Damn - I hope at least a Club 33 matchbook ends up in the Grail Diary !

I'm going to do some thread excavation this weekend and freshen up the running order (check that everyone is still present, correct and ready to receive). At the suggestion of Stoo, I may also rehash the map and try and crunch the mileage figures. Stay tuned :whip:

Lance Quazar 10-11-2011 01:24 PM

Great teaser image, Pale Horse! Hope you guys had a great visit, can't wait to see the rest of your pics!!!

Billy Ray 10-13-2011 01:55 PM

Haven't been keeping up with this like I should!

Lance, awesome work my friend! Indy with HF's handprints/star were a stroke of genius!

Pale Horse, great teaser and really dig the antique photo look...can't wait to see more!

Stoo 10-16-2011 07:50 PM

@Lance: Great stuff. My favourite is the one with Indy standing on Harrison's star saying, "Besides, there's nothing else to see here anyway." Instant classic!

@Pale Horse: Classy photo from Club 33.:hat: Great things must be in store...

@Inky: To save you the trouble of searching, I updated the latest itinerary back in post #465, Oct 2010 - one year ago! (Cripes, has it been that long?)

inky_skin 10-17-2011 04:05 AM

@Stoo - thanks for saving me the effort mate (although there are a few names on there I haven't seen around in a while).

Pale Horse 10-25-2011 11:40 AM

Temple of the Forbidden Eye

Part I

That's what I call a perfect fade in...

This should rile everyone up!

And it begins

Pale Horse 10-25-2011 11:47 AM

...Part I continued

Deeper in the Jungles

Well, that didn't go well...

Now...that made me hungry (STAY TUNED)

Stoo 10-25-2011 12:31 PM

WOW! Damned fine & exceptional work, Pale Horse, and you even got Indy sitting on the truck!:hat:

Love the Tootsie Pop owl reference!:)

Montana Smith 10-25-2011 01:29 PM

Yay! What Stewie said.

Except the bit about Tootsie Pop! (I've no idea what that is - I thought Indy was getting to know Moloch in Bohemian Grove back there).

Love the aged shots and the moody looking ones near the end!

Stoo 10-25-2011 01:57 PM

Smiffy, you can see the classic, '70s Tootsie Pop commercial here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ0epRjfGLw

The aged look on Pale Horse's photos is a gorgeous touch and the colour shot inside the actual "Forbidden Eye" ride is a coup-de-grace.

NickTurner 10-25-2011 06:24 PM

First class update! :hat:

Once again this is the best thread on the Raven...

Lance Quazar 10-25-2011 08:21 PM

Pale Horse, this is OUTSTANDING!!!!!

The pictures are spectacular - great, great, GREAT job on the "antiquing" of the images. Clever and funny captions, too.

The truck!!! The ride!! Excalibur!! My favorite pic is the low angle looking up at the temple.

Can't wait to see inside the vaunted Club 33, an area more secretive than the Grail Temple itself.

Gorgeous, gorgeous work!!!

Dr. Gonzo 10-25-2011 08:48 PM

I have to echo what everyone else has said... great stuff.

You must have placed that reservation for 33 a while ago...

Rocket Surgeon 10-26-2011 08:07 AM

Amazing balancing act on the Duck!:hat:

Any curious onlookers...don't see much of a crowd. Getting your shots in the "pre-opening" hour?

harvey 10-26-2011 08:34 AM

That's next level work, right there.

Pale Horse 10-31-2011 10:47 AM

A bit of a regret. Traveling Indy could have been an internet meme...because he could have been here this weekend.

This is the KJ92508 Halloween House. It's on the street behind me...we've taken the family a few times now.

Heh, I saw a report about that house on CNN the other day. Has mini-Indy already left for his next destination?

Pale Horse 10-31-2011 11:45 AM

As I understand it, Lance has him back for some last minute stuff in LA, and then he's on to Nick up in the bay area.

He was only with me for my Disney Club 33 trip.

inky_skin 11-07-2011 05:23 AM

Again, thanks to the pressure of "offline" life, I've been badly neglecting this thread

@Pale Horse - there aren't sufficient superlatives to describe how thrilled I was to see Indy hanging off the front of that truck. Are there any more pictures to share ? I know Lance has some, and that Nick Turner is eagerly awaiting Indy's arrival...

Henry W Jones 11-08-2011 08:02 PM

This thread is highly entertaining. Very creative stuff. Great work everyone!!!

InexorableTash 11-12-2011 08:54 PM

I'll be down in La la land (visiting the DL of course) next weekend if little Indy needs transport up to the Bay Area.

If not, Godspeed little fellow - great adventures await in SF!

Pale Horse 11-15-2011 04:52 PM

Continuing ...

Please forgive the poor low light quality of my point and shoot, and the general laziness of the post processing process

In the upstairs lobby

Awaiting the menu

Eating

Waiting for dessert

For the uber fan, only

Those in the know, know that Walt never got to eat at his restaurant. Tragically, one of the CM busboys said that this was his favorite table. In true PH fashion I said: "Walt died in 66' and this club opened in 67'. Explain that". I smiled as he sheepishly walked away.

But the image above was inspired from this window, and it's the same window that Traveling Indy ate at. This is the view, from that window.

Now, those not in the know, know.

What a doofus (the busboy, that is). By the way, the steak looks delicious! Did you give Indy a bite?:)

Pale Horse 11-16-2011 10:56 AM

Truly, that green bean/broccoli/pea dollop there above it (on the right) that looks like it was scooped from a lunch cafeteria was the bomb. Everything made there comes from a central kitchen 2/3 stories below. When I worked at the French Market back in the day, leftovers from the club were put out for the employee kitchen. Waste not Want not.

Best thing about the Club, for us...is the desserts, and cocktails. The rest is just somewhat ... similar.

Lance Quazar 11-20-2011 02:42 AM

NickTurner 11-29-2011 06:06 PM

Lance has more pics to post, but I can't resist posting some teaser pics. It's cool to be able to unpack the well-traveled Indy, set him on your desk and take a snap right away! I had opened up some figures the night before....

Indy is looking a little worn around the edge of his hat! Who knew that item was painted? Shoes are scuffed too, though that is to be expected from all that travel. I had to resist the temptation to spruce him up. I figured this was all part of the deal - travel scars? Voyage fatigue? Building character or something? Anyway here is another quick pic.

Wow the dust really shows up in pictures! :D

NickTurner 11-29-2011 06:24 PM

Some more fun stuff to keep things going till I get out and about! Folks are right when they say it's just plain fun to take pics of this guy. I'll have to edit it down to just the good ones as it will be tempting to post everything!

Rocket Surgeon 11-30-2011 07:41 AM

Good to see he's still moving, but where did the red line stop on this leg of the journey?

Can't wait to see the sights...:hat:
