Crystal Skull or Young Frankenstein
The first image of the film is a mountain.
The opening scene features a casket, (whose contents are sought) being opened inside an enormous building. |

So that explains the post about my grandfather digging up freshly buried... ...and the aliens have big eyes like Marty Feldman. ![]() |
Igor would've been a much better Indy sidekick than Mac.
|
The re-attachment and subsequent re-animation of a disembodied skull!
The schmaltzing of a classic fictional character! Both featured the use of torches! |
Oh my God, you're right. They brought Abby Normal's brain to Akator. No wonder it seared Cate Blanchett's face off.
|
The lead is a college professor...a doctor and so was his father.
|
Both were parodies of that from which they were derived.

Not unlike this thread? There's at least one over-the-top eastern European accent in both movies. In Crystal Skull, we hear traditional songs from the place and era (Peruvian rhythms, Hound Dog and Shake, Rattle, & Roll). In Young Frankenstein, we hear traditional songs from the place and era (something on violin and The Battle Hymn of the Republic, and Sweet Mystery of Life and Puttin' on the Ritz). In both movies, the hero and his smaller sidekick, who dresses in black, rob a graveyard. In both movies, there's a rotating or tipping doorway of some kind. Both movies feature scenes in a library. Both movies feature scenes in old buildings. Both movies have people getting inadvertently wet as they try to accomplish another task. Both movies have people getting lit on fire by mistake. Both movies have love scenes. |

This is all very convincing.

Both Indy/Henry and Frankenstein/Fronk-en-steen are particular about what they are called, but eventually have managed to make peace with their names.
Both main characters are seen on a fog-shrouded train platform, and speak to a young boy about the platform. |

Ja Ja Track 29! Oh, can I give you a shine??? |
Both feature writings of an elderly character which leads each protagonist to a great discovery (Oxley's notes in KOTCS, Frankenstein's journal in YF). Though, truthfully, this one works better with YF and Last Crusade.
Each features a cast member from "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace" - Gene Hackman in "YF" and Jim Broadbent from KOTCS. |
Sorry could not resist these lines
Igor- it's times like this that makes remember me dad the things he would say
Victor- what would he say? Igor- get out of the bathroom your in there day and night give someone else a chance |

Well, I think the quotes speak for themselves...they both have a scintillating script full of phenomenal dialogue. |

I see a connection to KOTCS, albeit uninentional. Quote:
Mutt is telling his father that it's time to get out of the metaphorical bathroom, and give his son a chance. This will no doubt lead into Indy V, bearing the title Indiana Jones and the Hell of a Weak Bladder. |
Quote:
I thought the working title was Indiana Jones: Almost Dead and Loving It? |
Quote:
Better that than "Indiana Jones and the Men in Tights" |
The title hero lectures his students.
Ranking Law enforcement interrogates the hero, inflamed in part by paranoia. |

Very nice. The locals pursue the hero with violent intent, not placated until spoken to by an unexpected head. |
The smaller sidekick who dresses in black, looking down on the doctor below, suddenly appears besides the hero, to everyone's surprise.
