Well it's official, she said "Yes!"
Once upon a time, there was a bachelor, who was the epitome of all thinks classicly reckless. But happenstance would have it differently, and it started on that fateful night back in April of 2002. He was cocky, she was taken, but neither let that get in the way of learning how to love each other.
So over the next three years they broke down each others walls and defenses, and built a strong relationship with the right focus and the right ideals. As his father once said, "...they have dated longer than some people have been married." The relationship was proving it was stronger than either person though possible. And on a balmy warm Friday night, he took her to the restaurant where they shared their first formal dinner together, three years earlier, almost to the day. He smuggled the contraband in his sock, passed the box discretely to the waiter, who in turn delivered the box to the general manager, who held the eternal symbol of love in the prized wine cellar waiting for the dessert. And after dinner, filled with laughter and love, the wait staff signaled our protagonist to swallow the cottonballs filling his mouth. He got down on his knee, as the rose petal platter come to the table. The restaurant filled with joy as strangers threw money. Some took pictures and little children clamored to see the kind of happiness on the couples face that is uniquely childlike, wondering if we had stolen away some of their youth. And so, a new chapter begins in the life of the reckless (former) bachelor. I bid farewell to the life of wonder, and yearn now to make a great relationship, into an even better marriage. ![]() |
Congratulations m8 that is sure good news to hear!!! ;)

Congrats...
Married life is the best! |
Congratulations!
Hope all turns out well for you too, ToJ. :) |

eesh, how can cynical Philly fans even contemplate the optimism of marriage! :D :p ;) (I had to ToJ, I had to)... Plus, I looked at rings for 10 years, I know a bit of what you're going through. Nervous is a good way of putting it. |
My folks were engaged for three years before they married...they just passsed year 27.
Congradulations PH, I am excited to hear the great news. When is the wedding? |

I'd like to see a Deadlock satire compare & contrast of a typical day in the Pale Horse Abode with the ToJ Abode. . . . . Seriously, great news Deadlock. I couldn't be happier for you. Does this mean you have to give up the pyro gigs? |
Are you kidding, how else will he be able to keep the "sparks" in their relationship?
|
Cool Pale. Married life is one kick ass crazy ride ;)
|
Wonderful News, may best of luck and good times be in store for both of you.
And repeating some previous sentiments, married life is wonderful. (Coming from a 16-year-old girlfriendless boy) :p |
Will it be a traditional Jewish wedding? ;)
|
Congratulations Pale Horse! I wish you the best for that next chapter.
|
Congrats Pale Horse! Nice ring btw, you've got good taste!
My boyfriend's best mate bought an engagement ring for his girlfriend last week. Must be something in the air... Oh, and happy birthday too! |

Actually, Thanatosis and I are wanting to incorporate some different wedding traditions from around the world. As important as marriage is, sometime the ceremony can be quite stale, and boring. If we can do something less traditional, we would like to. I was going to do a separate thread about this later, but maybe it will work here. When you say "traditional Jewish", what did you have in mind? And if anyone else knows of crazy wedding traditions, feel free to throw it out there. Who knows, maybe there will be pictures of it here. :) Quote:
Thank you of the wishes, it sort of pales in comparison to the rest of my high, but I very much appreciate it. Also, that ring was the closest pic I found that looks like the one Thanatosis is wearing. She has a round solitaire in white gold, very much like that picture. Quote:
Yes that satire would be quite amusing. I would like to read it too. As far as the pyro gigs, they have been few and far between since 2003. I was asked again this year, but it was the first year her and I got some quality time alone with each other on the 4th. But she just recently said she would go out and do some recreational shooting with me, (something she was against for some time). It's not as exciting as explosives, but it still should provide some spark. |
Congratulations, Pale Horse! To echo ClintonHammond, married life is truly wonderful.

My sister met and began dating her (now) husband when she was seventeen. They got married when she was thirty.

I don't own a fedora. |
How did you get to be a moderator without a fedora?
Anyway, congratulations. Marriage is great, as long as you work at it. Don't get fooled into being lazy. Keep dating, even after the wedding. |

Well now is a good time to get one. http://www.adventurebilthats.com & http://www.the-magic-wardrobe.com/Co...=SearchResults Congrats, apalehorse. |
How the heck did I miss this thread?
Palehorse, may I say that it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Not only do I consider you to be a good online friend, I also consider you as one of the greatest guys on the internet, and I wish you many years of happiness and fulfillment in your marriage. Let's all drink to Palehorse ![]() |
"I also consider you as one of the greatest guys on the internet,"
oh yes he actually is one of our members. :p apart from this - congratulations. perhaps i should say something indy-related here but one can't always be indy and for the sake of your wife i hope you aren't. ;) as you seem to have the patience, i'm confident that this marriage also can live through the harder times. although marriage is very ordinary and usual in general, for a single man marriage is an extraordinary step and what would life be if there wouldn't be something extraordinary in each of us. as i see now, this was another great opportunity for me to say more than i had to say, so for now good luck and don't be so foolish to think you wouldn't need it. ;) |
congrats man, be coo and good luck
|
Sorry to be late in wishing you congratulations and best of luck, Pale Horse.
I am pleased to hear that your engagement was appropriately complicated. Do you think the general manager of the restaurant was a Mason? ;) |

Michael Jordan a veteran restaurateur, is general manager of the Napa Rose Restaurant at the DISNEYLAND Resort in Southern California. The California Restaurant Writers Association (CRWA) has named Michael “2001 Sommelier of the Year”. Prior to joining Disney in January 2001, Michael was the general manager for Pinot Provence restaurant for Joachim Splichal in Costa Mesa. He served as the GM of Spencer’s restaurant in Pasadena. Michael was then owner and chef of Bella Teresa restaurant with wife Teresa in Corona del Mar, GM of the Mobil Five Diamond Award winning The Pavilion restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel in Newport Beach. In addition, he was chef and later GM of his family’s four Italian restaurants, Matteo’s in California and Hawaii. Michael has more than 35 years of restaurant experience. The Napa Rose is the signature restaurant for Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel® in Anaheim, California. You know, now that I think of it, "you may be more right than you know." How odd that the restaurant chosen for that evening was the Napa Rose. The history of Napa is very unique. It currently holds CA's oldest public library still used for it's original purpose, yet the building is quite odd in appearance. Combine that with the Rose, and we are really on to something. Then there is the label Sommelier from the French word: sommerier, derived from a vulgar Latin word: saumrius (alternate spelling) which roughly translates to packhorse. That is not too far off from the modern words, Pale Horse. I think the connections are tied to the fact that the restaurant in a Vintners paradise, and that, according to Biblical metaphor, shows there is a vine, and there are branches. It all ties together, and if I can just define the knot... ![]() Quote:
awwwh, shucks. But alas, my secret is out. I have been charming another more deeply for many a year. She is my Grace and the reason I steal flowers from street side vendors. Sure, the women of the Raven can make me blush, and even go a little coy, but Thanatosis is a part of me like no other, and that gives me Illumination. Quote:
And a Raven member I will always be. This is my Cross of Coronado, (sort of, after king makeing Templar rituals, and the links between Alice protagonists in literature and film with mind controlling sex slave social programs, and the matrix connection between the Church of Rome with genetic research, and pondering the meaning of "We have to talk..." another 4 word phrase with deep seeded meaning). But you hit on one of the most important things I have learned thus far in our relationship. Patience. It is the first requirement for love. The more patience I demonstrate with Thantosis, the more I love her. I didn't think that quality was something that would show on a message board, but I am glad a quality she fostered is demonstrated for others to see... Quote:
Since I can't invite the entire world to the wedding (though I would love to get you all on a registry, lol), maybe everyone at the Raven can chip in so I can wear a Fedora on our wedding night [have you no shame, Mr. Pale Horse?!?]. After all, our wedding will be styled after the Golden Era timless classics of the 40's and 50's. Some things never go out of style. Quote:
Never happen, I'm not a Philly fan!!! :p :D :p :D :p |

[Jokingly]Over the line! "[S]tealing flowers from street side vendors?". Someone is getting way too giddy for his own good. Exciting times, true -- but we're all gonna be diabetics if you keep this up. |
