Even though TOD is my favorite, I'd never argue with Raiders being ranked number 1. It's a film in a class all of it's own for sure.

Likely to always be this way for me. Although there's times I can go back and forth on TLC and KOTCS depending on my mood but overall this is pretty firm for me.

All of the films have implausible and unrealistic stunts and such, true. I was just pointing out that TLC often gets a free pass for all of it's OTT and unrealistic moments while people always like...

I think it was a major aspect of what made the first two movies as good as they were and it was a little disappointing they did away with it come TLC. KOTCS didn't really have it either, I'm hopeful...

The downtime is to take a break from the action and calm down a bit to get more involved in the story and characters. Non-stop action after a while gets old and tedious, which is why action has to be...

That's a good point. It felt like a major pay off when you got to the truck chase in Raiders and the mine cart chase in TOD.

I worry for Indy 5 that it'll essentially be TLC 2.0 instead of something different and bold to end the series on a good note with. With the backlash KOTCS got that Spielberg is surely aware of, it's...

The confined, claustrophobic and oppressive feeling of TOD IMO was part of it's strengths and worked since it was a different type of adventure from Raiders. Funny thing is even though TOD has less...

I'm sure there's some others here who rate TLC as their least favorite, any others? It's not a popular opinion but occasionally there's somebody who rates it at the bottom. It's easily my least...

I was actually consider starting a TOD fans thread but this one seems to do the job just fine :D

TOD has always been my favorite. I acknowledge Raiders is the best in many ways but I find TOD to be...

Mola Ram and it's not even close, although Belloq and Toht were also effective villains. But Mola Ram is pure evil.

I think I mentioned before but I also think TLC suffered from having the dullest villains of the series. After awesome adversaries like Belloq, Toht and Mola Ram, the likes of Donovan, Elsa and Vogel...

I didn't even notice that but comparing the fedora with the ones in the other films, yeah. Something about it by comparison does seem just a tad bit off.

It's a minor thing but the tie Indy wears in TLC with the outfit is an odd choice, too. It'd be impractical in either scenario of the first two films.

I think in TOD his outfit still had that organic feel you mentioned, like it was what he wore when he was exploring or adventuring. In TLC it became more like a costume when you learn he stole the...

I still feel that moment cheapened Indy overall, revealing his signature look wasn't even originally his own. Made him seem inauthentic.

That actually reminds me how I never liked the revelation Indy stole his signature look from Fedora at the beginning. Something about it just cheapened the character for me, to think his signature...

Very much agreed. TLC is still enjoyable but you highlighted so many of my own issues with it. Way too goofy and slapsticky, and very much feeling like a cartoon version of the first film. At times...

I'd love for Indy 5 to really re-capture that vintage pulp feeling both ROTLA and TOD had. TOD in particular also has a distinct EC Comics style with it's style and colors, very evocative of...

That is sadly true. You don't see much in terms of them these days and what you do see ironically comes off as an Indy knock-off more than anything.

The increased humor IMO was a mistake. The other films are all humorous sure, even TOD, but TLC is the only one that goes for straight-up comedy and slapstick. For me this really undermined the...

Still, the basic similarities and parallels they share are certainly there and pretty undeniable. There's enough that's different true, but still, TLC retreads much of Raiders and is the only one of...

Thing with TLC is that of all the Indy films, it's the only one with a "been there, done that" feeling. Raiders is the first and both TOD and KOTCS both feel unique and different, even if to some...

Yes but KOTCS at least differs things considerably whereas TLC tries to parallel Raiders in a lot of ways and IMO too much so. The Nazis again, another Christian artifact, the desert setting, etc. it...

I find it just doesn't hold up as well as the others for some reason. It might be because it's the only one with a bit of a "been there, done that" feeling since it's using Raiders as it's template...
